Mike Alstott is gonna retire

Yeah, that's a question of day before he retire..I know there a lot of thread on him but I think he can have this one for his retire..
That's a sad day for us, one of the best running back(he should have been) is gonna retire..

Thanks for all you'r amazing big run. You were a REAL running back for me, shoulder down and run!

I wouldn't say RIP, he didn't die, he just retired! Still a great player, and I believe he will be a HOFer eventually.

Where did you hear that he is definitely retiring? I just looked on buccaneers.com and all they said was that he's missing the 2007 season with the neck injury.

He hasn't officially retired, but he'd be 34 next season. It's pretty amazing he lasted as long as he did considering how much blocking he had to do rather than be just the featured running back he should have been.

It looks like it's the last roundup for Mike. Similar to the Moose and other hard charging power backs his neck and spinal cord have paid a high price for his bruising style. Funny on the ESPN column they noted how since Gruden hit Tampa Mike's production dropped like a rock. If I hadn't watched some games last season I might have bought Massah Gruden's bag of goods on why he was underutilizing Mike. But last year Mike looked near vintage Alstott when given the chance to touch the ball. Gruden may have cost Mike a shot at Canton...

Given his very "Germanic" look, Gruden would be one of the last coaches to play the best players. Alstott, Jurevicius, Farmer, Gessner, Lynchand others, when Chuckie's around whites at taboo positions are sure to be waived or under-utilized.

I remember when the Edsel went down late last season. Gruden at a press conference stated every back before Alstott, then exasperatedly said and we will give Mike the Ball. It's like Mike was his version of Rudy.......

Alstott was the transition running back -- the only white back allowed to semi-regularly run the ball since John Riggins and Craig James and all who came before them. He should have been a featured back -- I believe he would have led the NFL in rushing more than once -- but now we're in an era without apparent end where white men can't even be backup tailbacks much less the featured runner. Today's another bleak milestone in Caste System and NFL history.

Well, at least we won't have to sit there and listen to moronic anouncers talk about how he "rumbles and bumbles and stumbles" down the field anymore. Just the way they described him was insulting enough.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching arrogant, cocky, negro defensive players hurt themselves trying to tackle him over the years. The best is when some idiot safety or outside linebacker got caught standing flatfooted with their arms wide open, and Alstott would come plowing through, running right over him. lol. Mike, you gave more negros head-trauma than advanced-calculus class.

Ladies and gentlemen, a moment of silence please for Mike Alstott...the hardest RUNNINGBACK to take down...ever.

As much a I loved and admired Mike Alstott, I always thought of him as the "token" white man at the position. In all reality, he had as much or far more talent than 90% of the RB's in the league for the past 10 years. His ENTIRE NFL CAREER was simply a shame to me. Obviously, he's a great athlete, a caring family man, and even better citizen and teammate.

I always used to think of the Alstott situation as a conspiricy. Think about it, "they" allowed ONE white man to run the ball in 10 years of NFL history. However, Mike (as well all know) is not your average RB, he's probably the biggest and strongest to ever play. However, as much as I think about this...the more I wonder if the NFL "chose" Mike in order to portray whites as "high-motor," "intense," and "hard-working." Either way, I can't even think about the NFL without hating everything they've done to my all favorite athletes...I can't even imagine how many white RB's were better than Alstott and were passed over, truely pathetic. It's really sad; Alstott could have had a Jerome Bettis career (probably w/ a better YPC if used correctly). But have faith guys. Sam McGuffie is going to win the Heisman, change some perceptions and go on to have a 10,000 yard rushing or better NFL career!
