I'm noticing a weird pattern with these AZ Republic player profiles: 80% of them are on white players, on a team that is as black as they get. Weird. Maybe its like the TV cameras on MNF, which highlight the white players, trying to hide how black the league has become?

Cardinals Profile

Lyle Sendlein
Position: Center.
Height, weight: 6-4, 300.
Age: 24.
College: University of Texas.
Hometown: Scottsdale.

Background: Attended Scottsdale Chaparral and helped the team win back-to-back 4A state championships in 1999 and 2000. Played in 49 games at Texas, where his father was a linebacker (1977-80), and was an integral part of the school's national-championship team that beat Southern California in the Rose Bowl. Played in 12 games for the Cardinals last season as a rookie and made two starts.

How he got here: Signed as a rookie free agent in 2007.

2008 projected role: With starting center Al Johnson recovering from a knee injury, Sendlein is now No. 1 on the depth chart and keeping the position well covered until Johnson's return, which should be in time for the season opener.
