Is any other somewhat white rural communities getting pushed to have some sort a rail going to their neck of the woods from some urban cesspool like Chicago? Over the last couple of years or so this has been pushed big time in my area (Minnesota - rail from Chicago to Rochester/Minneapolis). It is very unpopular with the people as they realize it will bring more minority crime to the area. I see that it is one of Obama's major plans in the so-called stimulus package. It also fits Obama's racial agenda and the racial agenda of his bosses which is to destroy any last remote white areas with Urban sprawl.

I wish we had more rail in this country. I don't think it will bring more crime. The railways were extensive in America before the car took over in the 40's and 50's.
We should have expanded rail instead of building the Interstate highway system. It's easier to committ a crime with a car.

public transportation to new areas winds up resulting in criminal types in those areas. Ive seen it before firsthand. Areas that were once nice turned into dumps with higher rates of crime years after public transportation was available to that areaEdited by: dwid

Even if it's minor crimes such as D+D(drunk and disorderly)inner city lowlifes had no way to get out to the outer burbs/country in Metro Toronto and now thanks to better PT, bus drivers get attacked and guys that look like they were from a rap video cause chaos in McMansionville....

There aren't a bunch of minorities taking the train to rich suburbs of Chicago and causing problems. The majority of the people have access to cars anyway.. There are also a ton of Mexicans living in the suburbs now. They are taking over some suburbs and it has nothing to do with mass transit. It would be nice to have an all white city with good mass transit like European cities. Although through stupid immigration policies, Euro cities are being ruined also. Rapes have tripled in Malmo Sweden due to muslim immigration.

Yes, it does have to do with public transportation. You would be surprised on how many do not have cars.

Why do you think all of those people were stuck at the Convention Center and the Superdome during Hurricane Katrina? The ones that caused problems, looted and shot at helicopters when they tried to save them. Its because they did not have a car to leave. Or they just didn't have enough money to leave like gas, a place to stay etc.

That was a big problem that the government has now fixed. They now have a plan to evacuate all of those people without cars or means to leave themselves in greyhound buses before a big storm hits.

Many of those people were sent to Houston on greyhound buses. Houston's crime rate skyrocketed. Most are still living in Houston. Many did not want to leave, they felt better accommodated. Better public transportation. Well and the government was giving them free money to stay at hotels, i think they still are, not sure.

The ones that came back to find that the majority of the public housing was boarded up were "shocked" and got fema trailers with no real plan on leaving them and finding a place. Yet they wanted to sue because of the formaldehyde that was in some of the trailers. I think I would leave if the trailer had formaldehyde in it.

I dont know how much the train costs to get to the rich suburbs and how long it has been in effect, but trust me over time, there will be more criminal types in that area.

It was before the 1970s when my grandpa moved my dad and his brothers and sisters to New Orleans East. It was a nice suburban place then, little to no crime, majority white people. Then they started having routes where the bus system reached New Orleans East. By the time I was growing up in the mid 80's early 90s it was majority black, terrible crime problem. I went to an all black school which didnt exist in the 70's out there. The blacks started coming in and slowly pushed the whites out.

This has happened in multiple nice places in the New Orleans area. No affordable housing for people without jobs? fixed with housing vouchers.

Its not really a matter of them taking a train to the rich suburbs to cause problems. Its about them slowly migrating to those suburbs. Like i said, you think they cant afford it, but the government will find a way to put them in nice houses. They are reproducing at a much higher rate than us and there is lack of housing for them. The government is not just going to let them stay on the street, they will accommodate them.

Meanwhile I am struggling to get a house, you think if I ran out of money the government would get me a house? I would be out on the street. If anyone thinks that the government will help me then let me know because I will spend all of my money and let them give me a free house since they are just wasting good money away.

I know this is off topic but it brought me to this:
which makes me think of Brad Pitt. He and Angelina Jolie have funded the building of all these nice houses for poor people in New Orleans. Well, these are not just "nice" houses. These houses are state of the art. Even though the houses look weird, they provide solar panels and all kinds of stuff like that, basically they get free electricity and such. They're some sort of state of the art self sufficient houses. in the middle of where an extremely poor neighborhood used to be before Katrina and intended for those people who lived there before the storm. Like all those people needed was a nice home to fix the poverty problem, no these people will become self sufficient along with the houses and wont have to rely on the government anymore. Haha, The people who live in these houses are not going to keep them up. Just like the project buildings that used to have whites in them, it will get run down.

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20052779,00.html

Green Project Just look at the designs for those houses.

ill post some of what they talk about, there are 6 different designs of houses the are using. Heres some of things each different house features (yes they feature even more nice things besides what I am posting)

"The designers used a smart and efficient approach to energy using a heating and cooling system that combines natural ventilation with a geothermal system. The project features an innovative rainwater collection and recycling system, which reduces the potential for neighborhood flooding, provides resiliency in the event of future disasters, and provides environmental benefit."

"The buildings are placed efficiently on the site, thus creating opportunities to beautify the grounds and provide local production of food for the residents (e.g., community gardens, orchards, and open space)."

"A café and community center address the economic and social needs of the community as well as environmental concerns key to sustainable design."

"# The placement of the solar panels is innovative in that the panels help achieve the net zero energy goal, shade the buildings from the afternoon sun, and protect the residents from high winds in hurricanes
# The design incorporates community vegetable gardens and includes a rainwater collection system as part of a small park."

All of these designs where they barely have any electricity bill or none at all and they are supposed to grow their own food and keep up with it? haha. Id like to have one, I would actually take care of my place. But since my Irish ancestors came over here in the late 1800's and were treated like sh*t (they competed with blacks for jobs, given the same opportunities as blacks and the same amount of rights as blacks when they came here), worked there way up through the worst jobs possible, like digging ditches such as the New Basin Canal (8,000 Irish died) I am not eligible to receive one of these houses. Maybe I should build a time machine and tell my ancestors not to try and rise above at all, because the government and rich people with guilt will help you eventually.

I would not have a problem with this if they went through the same interview process with the future inhabitants that they went through with the designers of the houses. If they found the right poor people who were really willing to keep up these houses I think it would be a great idea. They are just going to give them to any poor person that happened to be affected in the area. Whats the matter Brad, you dont think poor black people would have a "clear understanding of the need to address rising electricity and energy costs and mounting health problems caused by exposure to unhealthy building practices."? Guess what, there are a few, but since you are giving the houses out to any poor black person who was affected by Katrina, they will not be kept up.Edited by: dwid

Great read, BTW.

And along the proposed rail in Minnesota they already have plans for subsidized housing. The formula is the same in all areas of this Country.

Does anybody doubt why Obama is so crazy about these light rails? If you don't think it's racial then you are dreaming.

DWId, You make a good point about New Orleans. The trains in Chicago have probably been around over 100 years. Many suburbs were started along the lines. There is good transit to get downtown, but if you don't have a car in the suburbs, it's a bit hard to get around. It's not like they can take a bus to the grocery store. Many of these higher end suburbs don't have moderate apartment complexes where many of the section 8 people would live, so that probably keeps down the problem groups , coupled with the fact that there is no local mass transit other than to get downtown. Some of these suburbs have certain lot sizes and strict zoning laws that will keep these people out. They know what things will attract this sort of group and they keep them out through various laws. It seems it's the buses that cause the problems. It's too bad this country is being ruined.

Thanks, Kaptain!

Baltimore has had a light rail line running down Howard Street (downtown's main shopping street back in the day) since 1992. It stops at the Orioles and Ravens stadia. I've ridden that line a few times. It's done nothing to alleviate the seediness that Howard Street had acquired by the time I moved to MD from PA in 1985.

"New Orleans East", dwid? Was/is that within Orleans Parish or is that the area around Slidell (s.e. St. Tammany Parish)?

New orleans East is within Orleans parish but it is kind of seperated from the heart of the city by the Industrial Canal which the high rise goes over, but that is the actual name for the area, its a little ways from the main part of New Orleans, but the city itself is small in size, its not spread out like other big cities. On the interstate there is a big block set in the ground that says that reads New Orleans East in big capital letters. And the area is referred to as New Orleans East. Its gotten even worse after Katrina, alot of displaced drug dealers have set up shop in the East.

Then there is Irish Bayou which is right before the bridge basically the furthest east you can go in New Orleans before hitting water (where they tried to force all of the Irish people to live back in the day to get them away from society). Then there is the lake and then St Tammany Parish where i currently live.

Which after Katrina has had an influx of displaced poor people who get housing vouchers So now the people who fled from New Orleans East in the 90's (like my family in the late 90's) are now looking to flee from Slidell, i think the new chosen area is Picayune, MS.

The other places I was referring to were places like Metairie which has seen an influx of criminals even before Katrina. It also has spread to the Westbank which is across the Mississippi river, but that was also before Katrina, like everything else it also coincided with public transportation being available and housing vouchers.

It also can be economic. As many new malls will open up in the outer burbs and these malls need minimum wage workers. The local communities will provide few of them. So it's bring the extras from Tupac Shakur videos....

well in New Orleans East they had a mall called the Plaza, it got so bad most stores closed their businesses because of shoplifting and such. It wound up having very few stores to shop in. It was a decent mall....when I was 4 or 5.

There should be plenty of high school kids that should work for min wage in the suburbs but tat usually isnt the case. Even if their parents have money, they should do it to learn about work ethic. I think kids today get too much handed to them.Edited by: dwid
