I've been trying to think who the last white safety(NOT INCLUDING JOHN LYNCH) to start in a Super Bowl was? I cannot recall the last guy before Lynch to do so. Any one know?

Er... may be one closer but I believe that Gary Fencik started for the 1985 Chicago Bears in their Super Bowl victory.

How about Adam Archuleta for the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI?

Right you are, Don. Archuleta is listed as a starter. John Lynch was actually in the Super Bowl the very next year with the Buccaneers.Edited by: PhillyBirds

I don't think he is white. He looks mixed race to me. Maybe half Asian or Aboriginal Hawaiian.

Mark Kelso was the usual starter at free safety for the Bills in the early nineties. I think he started most of their superbowl appearances. He used to get a lot of flack from some TV pundits for a lack of athleticism and lack of hard hitting, but in my opinion he was a sure tackler, a good cover guy and had a knack for interceptions. He actually wasn't that fast in the open field. He was a 10th round draft pick that started for about seven or eight seasions in the NFL and went to four superbowls. Not bad.
