When Reus is at home, going against people he knows he can beat, he feels confident, relaxed. This feeling allows him to get out in front and run his best race. In international competition, he is against people he knows are superior to him. This causes him to tighten up, not run his best race. Obviously he needs to overcome this.

The clock doesn't lie. He is a ten flat sprinter. More international competition would be good for him. He would get used to it, then start to perform better.

Someone had this to say about Reus on another track discussion board:

"Reus can't run fast if somebody runs besides him. As long as he is ahead he is very fast."

I think that pretty fairly sums up Reus' record.
In that way he is reminiscent of Craig Pickering.

Or Asafa , although from a far superior starting point

Any Olympic predictions? I see Daphne Schippers as being a real bright spot for us. She looks so strong right now. I could see her doubling. She looks capable of getting into the 10.6s in the 100.

Came across the vid on Youtube. It's interesting in that has some classic films including Woronin's 10.00.

Will this be the year Julian Reus finally makes the finals in a major championships? I sure
hope so. His form hasn't been as good as previous years but you never know. He missed the
semifinals at lhe last champs by thousands of a second. Hoping he can break through to at
least the semis and maybe if all goes right his first finals. That would be a huge confidence
boost which he badly needs at 29 years of age. Good luck to Julian Reus next weekend.

I'd love to see him running relaxed against top quality. So far he's only been a big fish in a small pond and he needs to up his game as time starts to run out

Reux in final ? It woud be a BIG BIG surprise, for me it's impossible, may be in 2018 at european championship but at world championship, it's too hard for him.

sorry, but I'm going around 10.20 for Reus, all the while hoping I'm wrong. But if you habitually tighten up it never changes.

I've got bronze twice after leading at 90/95m and hearing them coming. I'm an expert choker

Lol! Very true. Handsome guy, great haircut.
He ran some fast times in Germany, but only in Germany.
However, he only ran well against Germans. Otherwise he performed poorly in every major competition outside of Germany.
Never made the final of the European Championships despite having some of the fastest times in Europe.
I think his career is basically over now.

The European Champs are in Germany in 2018! So if Julian Reus ever has a chance to make a final of a major championship
and possibly medal it would be next summer. He is on home soil and he will be 30 years of age next year. It's now or never. Who knows? Maybe he can end his career on a high note. No matter what happens he is the most best german sprinter as far as the men go that they have ever had. It's just a damn shame he doesn't have the ability to race as well outside of Germany. It's very odd. I still love watching him run and hope he can somehow break through next summer. The guy like Kilty deserves to go sub 10 and he also deserves at least a medal for what he has done for german sprinting there locally. Maybe their next star will te able to run those performances or better everywhere like most elite sprinters.

that's true. Imagine the money he would have made in endorsements if he went sub 1o and won something. He'd be cover boy for Vogue.
I was watching the Euros live in Amsterdam last year and saw him get just bundled out of the final

It is cool to be a fast fish in a slow pond but when you go up against faster fish than you in a much bigger pond and you are not able to respond it is like running in quicksand...it is almost a waking nightmare...I would think Rues wants to do well and it has to be extremely demoralizing knowing he could get his mind to match his legs he could make the finals of most meets and go sub 10.

thing is, even if Reus gets that sub 10 at home no-one's going to blink an eye except for the adoring home crowd. The accomplishment will be devalued because we who know a little about track will know a world title, even a world final, isn't coming

Julian Reus is now 31 years of age and is without a doubt the best german male sprinter outside of Armin Harry that we have ever seen He holds German Records over 60 & 100 meters. This is a great sprinting collage video I found of him. I think you guys will enjoy it. Reus has inspired many of the German youth to take up athletics.
