Wilson's style really isn't the type of style of play of a young Vick it's comparable to Joe Theismann or Doug Flutie. Watch old Redskins games and watch the listed 6' foot Theismann roll out to throw or do a naked bootleg and you see Wilson. When Flutie scrambled and made magic with big throws after the pocket collapsed it's similar to Wilson when he burned the 49'er secondary. Any scout can see this but a writer with a pen can see anything he wants and report it as such...
Oddly enough I was watching a draft preview mid-last week and Brandon Allen from AK was being highly touted as having all the attributes of the "proto-typical" black QB although they didn't say that, just discussed his upside.

It is irritating but at the end of the day if he found a white QB that could match those guys he would back down.
There are plenty that can. He just flat out refused to recruit any of them. Welcome to Caste System 101 - class is now in session.

Merril Hoge thinks Manziel has bust written all over him

"I see bust written all over him," Hoge said. "Especially if he's drafted in the first round."

"He has absolutely no instinct or feel for pocket awareness. He has an instinct to run. That's a bad instinct if you're going to have that in the National Football League. You have to play in the pocket with traffic around you and throw it. When traffic comes around him he runs, and that's dangerous in the National Football League."

"(Manziel's) skill set does not transition to the National Football League," he said, "and it's a big, big risk."
Hog

Merril Hoge gave one of the nastiests critiques of Tebow I ever heard; in fact, I can't even stand listening to the guy after I heard that.

Don't flatter yourself. I've been watching and following football when all you could see was a grainy image on a TV bigger than a Buick.

Watching football and understanding the caste system are two different things though. Your perspective should be interesting since you actually got to see the caste system take hold in the NFL as white players became forbidden to play certain positions - whittling whites down to essentially the positions of QB, TE and OL in present day football.

Let's give this man a chance to give his views. Believe it or not, those with a long-term perspective gained from the school of hard knocks that is life, have the most to share. We have too few new posters to greet one with hostility -- unless and until he proves worthy of it!
