since Freddy Adu is a bust, the search continued and finally revealed the "next big thing" in American soccer.

of course, he is black. and even better, his parents are poor "immigrants" from Haiti... ladies and gentlemen, may i present to you the next face of American soccer... Jozy Altidore.

the only good thing about his hype is at least he appears to be a solid pro. unlike Adu who never did anything except run around and be black.

Brian McBride is my favorite US Soccer player. There may be others I am unaware off though, because I mainly get to see the English premier league. I like his attitude. He just gets on with the game without the diving, crying and moaning of so many of todays soccer players.

) just ahead of Brad Freidel. He is a similer player to Alan Shearer. A player with good skill, awareness, intellegence, clinical finnishing (feet and head) and tough as a nut! Last season he cut his head open with blood all over his face, but he carried on playing as if nothing had happened. LEGEND!

O and as for this Jozy, he'll probably just be another overated Freddy Adu. I saw Adu play in Seattle last summer for DC United against Real Madrid and he did absolutly nothing all game apart from lose the ball.

Did Adu just get picked up by Benfica? He'll never reach what he could have been, I think he should have played European ball early in his career as with most Americans. I wouldn't call him a bust yet, but his play, pace and even will to win left something to be desired in the couple of games I watched him play last year.

Don't know anything about Jozy to comment on him but I am not expecting too much.

Sorry, just read the article and it did confirm that Adu is with Benfica.Edited by: mrjohnnynofear

The Benfica fans are expecting big things from Mr. Adu, since he has been hyped so much (he was met by a large group of fans at the airport). This will increase the pressure on him. I predict that he will underperform. I have nothing against the guy--he just hasn't shown soccer fans much.
