I'm glad he's playing and I hope he does well, because if he doesn't all the drama will have been for nothing.

As a Jet fan, I'm not optimistic. Bad trade. Nothing good can come from getting a guy who caused all this trouble. NOTHING GOOD!!!

Good thing for Favre he got out of that fishbowl in Green Bay and to a nice quiet place like NY.

You go from medicine ball wounded duck throwing Chad Pennington to rocket throwing first ballot HOF Favre. You should be thrilled. He didn't cause all the drama either, that two-faced liar Green Bay has for a GM played his part if you believe some of the things Bret has said about him. I do.

guest301,

Sorry, but I've got to disagree with you on this one. Nothing good will come of a three ring circus like this.
I don't know anything about the G.B. General Manager. Maybe he's no good as you say, but I don't think Farve has what it takes anymore to take a new team far. Plus, he's older now and more likely to get hurt at this point. He's due for an injury.

The good thing is he clears up the mess about Kellen Clemons now. If anything happens to Farve now. Clemons will finally be the starter.

Anyway, this is all conjecture on both our parts at this point and only time will tell the tale now.

Did you see the numbers he put up last year? Those numbers were comparable to any season he had in his prime. You say he's overdue for a injury, he's been overdue for a signifigant injury his whole career, it hasn't happened. He's the Cal Ripken of the NFL, he doesn't miss games. You never know when a player will start to slip but there are NO signs at all that Favre is slipping. Your Jets will at the very least with Favre healthy for a whole season, double your output of victories. We will see at the end of the season who's right but I really think you should be excited as a Jet fan right now. I predict a wild card playoff contendership run for the Jets. Just wait and see.Edited by: guest301

I agree with guest301, I had Favre last year in FF and he was one of the top guys. He can still play. Less talented QB's then him have played longer. While there is no gaurentee that an injury or team chemistry won't hamper his effectiveness, Jets fans should be thrilled to get this guy. Lots of worse a-holes then him are starring for other teams and putting up good numbers. The Jets just upgraded themselves bigtime.

I agree with Jaxvid. There is no question that the Jets have upgraded themselves. Who was even talking about the Jets 36 hours ago, virtually nobody. We will get to see two Tom Brady vs Brett Favre matchups in the regular season. Any football game where the two main hyped up stars featured are larger than life white guys like those two is a good thing for all of us here and our purposes.

Sure Favre can still play. His arm is strong and he hasn't been hobbled by injuries. But he is going to be in for a rude awakening if he doesn't perform well in New York. The fans are not like the those in Green Bay and the rest of Wisconsin who worshipped and treated himlike a god.

I was shocked by polls showing his popularity turned downward. In fact the majority of fans blame Favre NOT management. Never thought I'd see this happen.

One of my brothers who has been a bona fide Favreophiliac actually called him a prima donna and diva.

Brett's interviews and comments haven't helped his cause. Heis angry with the general manager for not landing Randy Moss, which infuriated many fans who hate the Vikings and remember Mossdancing in the end zone and mocking them by pretending to wipe his a$$. Trust me on this one, lots of foks are still pissed by that routine. Brett's receivers coul not have been very pleased, after all they played great and led the league in YAC.

He was very upset that ThompsonhiredMcCarthy instead of his good buddy Mariucci.

That had to go over big with Mike Mc.don't you think?

Even the old guard Packer players are upset about what has transpired. Paul Hornung was miffed that the Packers were offering Favre a sweetheart deal of 20 millkion bucks after he retired just to show up once in a while and shake hands. He said the old timers are having hip replacements, get barely get around, have many medical issues and they don't get money from the team. Favre took it as an insult. By offering him that kind of loot he would be expected to stay retired after he did indeed retire.

Brett wanted to be traded to an NFC North team because then he could play against the Packers twice during the season. How do you think that made Packer fans feel? Oh Brett, we love you so much and you want to comeback and beat us in spite?Yeah, you would get back at management, but you would destroy our team in the process?

Here is the weird part. Brett could have said he would come back and mentor Rogers for tte good of the team and be ready to play when called upon. Then when Rogers faultered and he probably will the fans would clamor for Favre to come in and save the day! He would be an even bigger hero to them.

But he made it plain that he would not do that in the Susteren interview. If the Packers were really concerned about his legacy, they could not consider him as anything but the starter.

In spite of all that Mccarthy spent several hours trying to straighten out the mess with Favre, but he said that Brett was not going to let all that previous stuff go, thus, the coach said Brett was not in the mindset to continue with the team and they made a deal.

The polls:

All the Jets' fans that work for ESPN are certainly happy now. Mike Greenberg, Linda Cohn, Steve Levy and co. didn't try to hide their ecstasy over Favre joining their team. Tony Kornheiser, who is supposed to be a long-time Washingtonian, was positively giddy over the trade.

I've made it clear how I feel about Favre, but the Packers have certainly handled this situation poorly. Yes, Favre has obviously tried their patience with his incredible indecisiveness over the past few years, culminating in a retirement that he was ready to retract only moments afterward. Still, the team's absolute refusal to let him come back as the starter is strange. It's hard to think of a comparable situation; all-time great, coming off one of his best seasons, wants to come back but the team opts to go with an unproven player instead. You'd have to think that there was a lot of animosity between Favre and the team behind the scenes.

At any rate, it has been an interesting story.
