ENTIRE Russian team of 387 athletes will be banned from competing at the Rio Olympics

The entire Russian Olympic team will today be banned from competing at the Rio Games next month, The Mail on Sunday understands.

According to well-placed sources, the International Olympic Committee will punish all 387 Russian sportsmen and women in the strongest possible way after revelations of their country’s state-sponsored doping programme shocked the world.

The country’s corrupt track and field stars have already been banned from the Games, and last week lost a desperate legal challenge to overturn that decision.

The political gamesmanship goes back to the 1980 Olympics, when the U.S. boycotted the Games in Russia because -- irony of irony now -- of the USSR's invasion of Afghanistan, a country where Washington has been squandering trillions of taxpayer dollars and the lives of soldiers for 15 years now with no end in sight.

The Soviets retaliated by boycotting the Los Angeles Games of '84. The U.S. almost boycotted the Sochi Games in '14, but instead used them to finalize their NGO-led coup in Ukraine. And now this. The U.S. (more specifically its neo-conservative madmen) has been the aggressor in creating Cold War 2, which is currently more dangerous than the first one ever was with NATO pushing Russia over and over again.

The Olympics, like modern centralized government, are unwieldy and unworkable. Why would any country want to waste billions of dollars for a two-week event, which also turns the host city into an armed camp and greatly inconveniences the people who live there? It's obvious a third world country like Brazil can't pull it off, and it's pointless and ridiculously expensive for "developed" countries to hold them.

Russia was perfectly justified in taking the majority Russian Crimea. The US only cares about self determination when it's a Muslim majority trying to break away from a Christian country after having massacred all the Christians.
