Cole Henderson was the fastest White high school kid in America in 2013.

as a junior, he won the Class 3 (the largest track classification in the state) State Championship in Illinois in the Indoor 60-meters (pb of 6.85), Indoor 200 (pb 22.55), outdoor 100 (pb 10.51), 200 (pb 21.50), and long jump (pb 23-11 1/4). not a bad year's work. he was so good, in fact, he single-handedly took the team 3rd place award at the Outdoor State Meet.

not just a track guy, at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds Henderson is a playmaker on both sides of the ball for his high school football team (Pekin, IL) which plays in class 7A (the second-largest classification in the state). during his already-mentioned junior year at wide receiver/kick returner he had 1,241 yards and seven touchdowns; at safety he totaled 67 tackles, 3 fumble recoveries, and 3 interceptions), his speed is a game changer.

he runs 40 yards in a reportedly blazing fast 4.35 seconds, has a 36-inch vertical jump, and bench presses 285 pounds.

he is so explosive, he was named as one of the 25 Most Dynamic high school athletes in the USA by Reebok. so why does he only have a single Division One scholarship offer to play football (Northern Illinois) and only one to run track (Illinois)?

So Cole repeated his championship in the 100 meter dash, 400 meters, 2nd in the 200 and long jump. Considering he is 6 foot 4 inches on a frame that could easily fill out, I just can't figure out why some MAC or WAC school didn't want to turn him into a tight end?

At least he got a track scholarship out of the deal to go to the University of Illinois. Must not have had that hip wiggle, felony convictions, or room brightening smile.
