Taylor is definitely not a fool. A protégé of Sean McVay, he’s learned a lot from his old boss. I have a theory that Taylor, deep down, prefers White OL, as McVay does, but he’s had sumos pushed on him by Willie Anderson, who apparently has been a Bengals adviser to the front office for offensive linemen for some time. Whatever is going on I’m so glad to see the Bengals have finally learned their lesson. Look for them to be a CF favorite next year.
A little off topic but Black o-linemen are also being signed by various teams as there's not enough overachievers to go around even if teams want them (and some don't). Will there be an improvement in the draft this year and in years to come? Team executives have to be willfully blind not to notice the large number of sumos drafted early each year who bust. But it's the same way with Black QBs -- the many busts are quickly consigned to the memory hole while the ones who succeed are salivated over.
Smart moves by the Bengals and I gotta say, the only highlight for me the last few years was Burrow coming in and not only lighting it up but coming in and being everything they have been trying to prop Mahommes up as. Watching the angst and anger by the Media, so certain they could sell Mahommes as the Tom Brady/Peyton Manning hybrid we have all been waiting for only to have Burrow swoop in and take the mantle. Very satisfying.
DE Wyatt Hubert has decided to retire before ever getting to play in a NFL game. He was injured all of last year, I believe his retirement was injury related.
