"Argie"--merci pour l'article en Francais. Tres interessant. I will now use my rusty French to summarize the article for my fellow English speakers.

It is a long feature in the French sports paper, L'equipe. Most of it is based on interviews with five track experts, include LeMaitre's coach, Pierre Carraz. Carraz thinks Christophe can medal in the Olympics. Donovan Bailey's former trainer, Dan Pfaff agrees. Ato Bolden thinks his best shot is in the 200. Christophe does not think he can currently medal, but he hopes he can in 2 years time.

There is then discussion of whether Christophe will focus on the 100 or 200 (apparently, the French are quite interested in this debate--if only Americans could get so involved in track!). It seems clear that his trainer, Carraz, believes the 200 will be Christophe's best event. Bruny Surin thinks he should simply run both events. Christophe states that he prefers the 100. He says that even if he runs only the 200 in a championship, he will run the 100 the rest of the season. So he's clearly not thinking about dropping the 100.

There is then discussion of whether he can beat Bolt (not bloody likely).

Finally, there is an article that seems to talk mostly about his personality. He is quiet and likes to have some time to himself in his room. In this article, by the way, the coach of the French 4 x 100 relay refers to Christophe as "the Mozart of sprint."

I hope I got all of that right!

Thanks trackster and just so you know, I am also getting impatient for the season to start. Especially in a year with the World Championships of Track and Field. It's going to be special.

For anybody that cares TFN rated Lemaitre 10th in the 100 meters in their world rankings. I found it pretty low as he won the Europeans and the Continental Cup. There was quite a debate on the board about the staff of the magazine not recognizing the meets that he won. I personally think Gary Hall has a bias against White short sprinters. He has seemed to pooh pooh the results of many prospects over the years. I'm not saying he should be cheering for anybody but his comments on the board seem more Debbie Downer than anything else.....

thanks for that story about him and the Japanese tests. Very interesting.
They made Shirvo special shoes too. I hope these make a difference

He's in Miami now so it'll be good to see what comes from that

i've found a potential theme song for Christophe whilst he's in the Land of the Rising Sun ... Big in Japan by Guano Apes. it's just a bonus that i like their version of the song.

for a long term career theme song I suggest this great choir of Gounod: "gloire immortelle de nos aïeux" = "IMMORTAL GLORY OF OUR ANCESTORS" Edited by: bk21

Lemaitre is going to race 5 times indoors this year. I can't wait for Feb. to get here! It would be really great if he could evenutally get down into the high 6.40's but with his mediocre start, I'm not holding my breath. We shall see though as they are trying to get him to become a better starter. I still think he lacks the strength to be explosive out of the blocks like most of the elite sprinters.

Wow those are some solid times for this early in the season. Especially over the 60 meters in his interval drills. Thanks for the update. Can't wait to see him lower his p.b. indoors.

Run on beach is very difficult and tiring.

It's very good for tights and calves I think.

I agree. I used to race some of my friends on the beach when I was younger. It was exhausting. It's king of like running in snow. Alot of Aussies get in great running shape by running in the sand. I recomend it to anyone. Running hills is great too. Both directions give you benefits above and beyond just your normal training. I like over speed training as well. Love having you here Twinsen9. I wish more people here would discuss track. Not only on this thread but in the 2011 thread. This is going to be one exciting year!
