now i'm really convinced he will run sub10 if nothing strangs happens.
What i already liked which is for me difficult to say in english but that he got a good as you see in the statistics that he got a good 60 meter to 100 ratio.the good 100 meter sprinters have always a good 60 to 100 ratio.you have guys that need a world record in the 60 meters to run sub 10 in the 100.top speed is not only very important in the 40 to let say 70 meters but also the last 30 meters.because the last is just top speed-1% and for some sprinters 3% speed, not may difference between sprinters, most of the rime when a sprinter beets another sprinter on the end it is because he got a higher topspeed with a slower start and not beets him because the other slows more down.

I predit for pepe leflew, the caucasian rocket this year a 9.92.

He ran 6.55 with no competition to push him. i believe second place went to 6.78? If he runs against the 6.5 guys from usa, england, jamaica etc...he will run faster... and stop comparing him to Shirvo or Nagel. Lemaitre is built differently. He is long legged with closing speed. Nagel, and shirvo were straight out of the block guys. Lemaitre is as unique as Bolt. Tall, very long legged with the turnover of shorter sprinters. That is the key why Lemaitre will go sub 10 this year and probably sub 9.9 by the 2012 games, if not sooner.

The champagne is ready and I will share it with everyone when it happens. Lol.

I'm not comparing him to Shirvo or Nagel. I was just talking about how they cracked under the same pressure he is facing. They both said it had an effect on them. I don't see this pressure stopping Christophe. At the same time though, the sooner the sub 10 happens, the better. The media, and fans can be very demanding and it wears on a person after a while. Please just let it happen this summer. I would say at the moment that he has the potential to run in the 9.95-9.99 range in good conditions with a fast start. Time will tell but it's hard not to get excited!

I can't wait to see a video of both of these races. The wait is killing me. Keep it up Christophe. Set your goals high my friend. If you dream it, you can acheive it!Edited by: white lightning

I hope everyone is well aware that if you put him on a fast outdoor track literally right now and made him run run a 100 and 200 meter, he'd be easily sub 10 and sub 20.

Basically, I am not even hoping for his speed to improve. I am hoping he stays alive and healthy.

It was similar to Gerry Cooney when he fought Holmes. Way too much internal pressure for a guy to have. The day I knew that he was too juiced up so to speak(poor choice of words for this forum) was the day in Seville when he bowed in a winnable semi and he didn't final. There were a bunch of scratches in his semi-final and he only needed a 10.14 to qualify for the finals. He had a look of pure shock mixed with frustration. Edited by: white is right

I've talked to Christophe several time on facebook, and he has joked around about the pressure. he seems to handle it well. I make it a point not to bring up the ten barrier since he is most likely bombarded with it. I always try to emphasize where he is at for his age and that there is no pressure. unlike shrivo at 19, this kid still has allot to improve on. he is still very raw and has a way to go in the strength area.he will break 10 no problem as long as he stays healthy and keeps his head right. this kid breaks 10 and he has a open full paid invitation to the USA for a weekend of partying in the city of his choice.

Your french must be better than mine. I know very little. He is a great kid. I have also said hi a few times. He has his races posted on facebook. Hopefully someone will upload them to youtube before too long. His talent is off the charts. If he comes to the US, I will have to meet up with you guys. I say Vegas. What better place to celebrate one of the biggest stars in sprinting. Remember that he is far faster than Gay, Powell and many others for his age. He will get so much faster as his strength continues to improve.

The biggest things he should do in my opinion are as follows:

1 Stick to a strict healthy diet.

2 Get plenty of rest.

3 Have a really good sports massuese & chiropractor.

4 Make sure he has be best coaching, training, and facilities available.

5 His coach needs to make sure they don't over race him.

6 Lots of stretching/pilates, and plyometrics.

7 Get a good strength training coach.

8 Take time to relax and have fun so that he never loses the desire to stay on top.

That is a short list of things he should do. He probably is doing most of these things already. He needs to really take care of his body. Running at these speeds is hell on your body. It takes time to recover. So far, he is in great hands.

If he ever comes here, I hope he knows that we are some of his biggest fans in the world and we support him all the way.

I'm not positive because I haven't seen the race participants but I'm around 90% sure that Martin Lamy finished 2nd in the 200 meters race against Christophe. If so, he probably ran right around 21 seconds flat. The guy continues to improve by leaps and bounds. Nice to see France with alot of young talent to compliment the older guys like Pognon who have been around a while.

Great post. Thinks that make you go hmmmn. It's like the commercial with the Heinz Ketchup. Anticipation. Christophe has lower his 100 p.b. by 9/100ths and his 200 personal best time by 25/100ths of a second. It makes you think what may be possible outdoors. I'm hoping he can duplicate these performances at the French National Championships in two weeks. Who knows, he may even run faster! Just stay healthy Christophe.

I cannot wait for this summer. It cannot get here fast enough. If I had my wish, I would be at the European Championships. I need to save my money for London though. I will be there. I'm trying to get a bunch of guys that want to go to the Olympics and Europe for two weeks. The trip of a lifetime.

Hello, all, been following this board for a year now, i am not an expert in sprint (and track and field), more specialised on MMA, rugby and soccer, but very enthusiast with Christophe (Pepe leflew has whitelightning calls him
smiley36.gif
), anyway, as a french i can translate any interview or video in french for you!
I can't assume a daily overview on the forum, but at least a weekly one...
Just find it, i ll translate!

Thanks ukthul. That is very kind of you. What kind of beer do you like? Lol. Feel free to post away. We could use some ladies here from France as well. They have to post pics of themselves as their avatar though! Hey, a guy needs some eye candy once in a while. Hehehe.

Good luck to Chrisotphe this weekend. I feel that we will see something special.

PepeLeFlew is faster than you! Haha.

Good luck to the Master!

Albinosprint:

Thanks for the welcome, i'd say that Christophe is, for the moment,an unknown by the average french, even if he had a few reports on the mainstream medias, but...
Track and field, if it is not a major sport as soccer or rugby, has a solid base of supporter in France, enough to have national and european championship live on national TV, as well as the golden four meetins, and a few others...Not to mention, that the world champs 2003 easily filled a 75000 personn stadium..

The Culozien broke the record of France's hope of 60m Bruno Marie-Rose

Another record France in the wallet of Christophe Lemaitre who loves to drop. "He was super happy! He jumps from the finish line to the starting line. It was really fun, "testified yesterday his trainer Peter Carraz from room Aubière (Puy de Dome) where" Kid Bugey "set a new indoor record for France hopeful of 60 meters. Winner of the championships of France category 6''55 the Culozien (19) lowered her personal best mark on the distance of seven hundredths to clear Bruno Marie-Rose tablets hundredth (6''56 7 February 1987 in Lievin) to ten hundredths - again - the record of France senior Ronald Pognon (6''45 in 2005 in Karlsruhe).

"Christopher is gone, in the same tempo as Lesourd (2nd) which has both a small build. This is proof that progress in this area. Then he walked: once it starts, it goes very quickly and he finished with two yards ahead ... "Carraz told once again enthralled by his pupil:" I hoped that he passed below 6''60, but perhaps not so. "

Previously, the champion and European junior record holder in the 100 m (10''04) had dominated the series without blinking (6''69) and semifinals (6''64).

With this performance, Christophe Lemaitre climbs to fourth in the world balance of the season, dominated by American Ivory Williams (6''51 February 6, Boston). Nevertheless, this performance will not change his plans. Early in the season, he had decided to abandon the world indoor Doha (12-14 March). The 60 m being a bit "short" for his size (1.90 m), he prefers to concentrate on preparations for the European Championships outdoors in Barcelona (July 26 - August 1). "The goal of the indoor season is already met, said Carraz. Enough! 6''55 is very good but not exceptional and yet he can not run a lot faster this year. With this timing, it could become final (the world indoor) but it would be foolish to aim higher. We'll see next year.

Another title for Christophe, he won the french indoor championships in a very good 6'56.

He seems to be consistent in that range which is amazing for 19 yo kid.

That's the end of his indoor season.

A lot of hopes for the outdoor season.

What an outstanding run by Christophe. The pressure of a national championship is not easy to deal with. I like the fact that he rised to the occasion everytime. To run a 6.56 against the best guys in France is very impressive. I'm so happy that he has won the indoor title. That was one of the big knocks on him a few years ago. That he would probably never be a good indoor sprinter. He has proven his critics and skeptics to be wrong. Congrats Christophe. I can only imagine what he is capable of this summer. I hope he takes a little time off to celebrate before he resumes his training for the outdoor season!

The Master does it again! Way to go PepeLeFlew!

Wow, 6.56! For a tall skinny non steroidal 19 year to go that quick, what can I say, he's a prodigy, a genetic freak. He'll break 10.00 for sure this outdoor season.

The fact that he runs in that 6,50 range in an consistant way means he will run between 10'00 and 10'10 regularly this year.

Before thinking to become a sub-10 you have to be consistant arround 10'00 (not like Woronin for example who just did 10'00 and that was it)

So, he will probably have a 10'05 average time with a peak arround 9'95-9'97.

Fantastic!!!! Or maybe, in honor of our French champion, I should say "FORMIDABLE!!!!!"

This proves that Christophe's 6.55 was no fluke!!! If he can do that consistently then look for times below 9.9! Remember, he has the best top end speed around! This is just great news.

If anyone finds a clip of this, post the link asap!

Christophe Lemaitre (AS Aix-les-Bains), champion of France of 60 m in 6 " 56: " I really gave everything to gain my first title in Elite. I expected to make a good time after my performance of France under 21 and I knew that I would have to feel well to gain this title. My start in final is better than in series even if I do not take out blocks among the first ones. Then, I return well. The meeting of Liévin will be my last competition of the season and I shall have in heart to make a good time over there also to enclose my indoor season in beauty. Then, I shall concentrate on summer. I still have things to be improved, in particular at the level of my stake in action. "

So last 60m in Liévin.

Is the Lievin Meet next weekend or two weeks from now? I really hope someone uploads the race to youtube soon. There are so many of us that want to see it. Congratulations to Christophe and good luck to him in Lievin. I have a feeling he might just throw down another personal best! I sure hope so. This summer is going to be the most exciting track season in years!

Felicitation Christophe Lemaitre!Edited by: white lightning
