here's a little tidbit from dd.com:

"Rutgers running back Brian Leonard told every team he is a running back, not a fullback. He worked it that way. His cone scores were great for his size/speed ratio. A former Bills' scout told me Leonard reminds him of Ronnie Harmon. He's a valued prospect, but I see him going in round two. His best chance to go in round one is the Patriots. I think Cleveland really likes him a lot, too, and is trying to look disinterested. But their scouts were eyeballing him from a suite in his workouts"

Who the f^ck is Ronnie Harmon?

Ronnie Harmon was a great affelete that played RB for the Iowa Hawkeyes on the Hawkeyes first trip(1986) to the Rose Bowl since the 50's.

Growing up a Hawkeye fan, it was a heartbreaking day for the all Iowa Hawkeye fans.

4 fumbles in first half when he had only fumbled once all year. HBO realsports did a documentary a few years back implicating Harmon in the scam.

Scumbag...

Didn't hurt him though as he played in NFL for 8 or so years.

Leonard has stayed on track and maybe even strenghthed
his draft stock by proving he could compete with the brotha's all the while sounding more intellectual and logical to all the other running backs being interviewed you know some of the scouts had to find that very refreshing that here is truly a student athlete and someone who clearly understands what is expected of him at the next level, and who knows that he can't disapoint those who have supported and followed his career thusfar. What can the pundits really say not big enough not true 6ft1 224 lbs not strong enough 28 reps most of any running back not fast enough 4.49 in the 40 yard dash. What bothers me the most is that Tony hunt is talked up more than Brian, and he is also projected to go higher in the draft. Brian truly has to have broad and very strong shoulders because he is single handidly carrying whites in a game that has shunned many who have come before him. Having said all that I still beleive that he gets drafted in round 1or 2 and will be a feature back at the next level things have got to start changing for the better and soon.Edited by: White Power

Actually, as I've said in a recent post, Leonard is projected as the 4th RB taken by NFLDraftscout.com (a highly respected site) ahead of Tony Hunt, but unrightfully behind Michael Bush and Mershawn Lynch. I believe Draftdaddy also has him ahead of Tony Hunt! If I were drafting the only HB I'd take ahead of Leonard would be Adrian Peterson. The one thing that is annoying me though is all the scouts doing the conventional thing and comparing Brian to Alstott. I like Mike Alstott alot, but Leonard is a completly different player. Leonard will not be one of the best power runners ever like Alstott, but he is more fleet of foot than Mike!Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

i think leonard should be ahead of everyone except peterson and lynch but only because lynch did have great production in college and if i were a coach i would pay attention to that as well. leonard IS however more talented than lynch and i would put him right up there with peterson in terms of physical talent

I think Leonard could go in the 3rd but most likely slip to the 4th. Unfortunately

A better comparison would be Roger Craig without the extreme high stepping. Craig looked like he was doing Ukrainian dancing.......

On the fox's sports NFL draft prospect list of the top 400 players available Brian Lreonard is listed as a running back and the 48th best player on their draft board. Also they have him as a riser on their list pretty strong indication that Brian will be drafted as a running back. However they list his 40 time at 4.52. I thought he ran 4.49 at the combine oh well still they seem to like him as a player comments please. I beleive this is a good sign for all of us who have followed this talented runner let's all hope so for his case.

Thanks for the link.I pulled out my stop watch which i did on a lot of the players.Leonard on my watch ran a 4.46 and a 4.47.Thats why any time I hear a report that a white player is slow when we know that not to be case e-mailthe people who write this garbage and then proof them wrong.I think we were going to have to take this that whites can't play and start proofing the people wrong.

Their is no reason to think Brian can't be a feature back in the NFL, However what I feel is pundits are so called experts are afraid of calling him a running back or they might be kicked out of the evaluation process all together. It is really a crime to think he can only play fullback. Some web sites have him listed as a running back and some still have him listed as a fullback even though he clearly stated that I want to play running back. Whatever happens he has got to stick to his guns and insist on playing running back so far he has his numbers bear out that he is an elite athlete, but as we all know sometimes numbers aren't enough to convince the masses of uninformed fans. On the positive side he does continue to move up draft boards but this might be an attempt to go against the grain or stand out who knows anymore. I have followed his career since the first day he entered Rutgers I knew from his first carry yhat he was a stud and could possibly break the trend of not being drafted as a running back. What is wrong with thinking their should be some white guys capable of running the football they're only 125 million of them in the country surely one of them can be a feature back. There hasn't been one for so long it can't stay this way for ever can it. Why don't more people speak out about this injustice or have we all gotten to the point where we just don't care. This web site allows for the true expression of fans real sentiments frankly it is long overdue.

Sorry boys, but how soon we forget. Remember Mike Hass? He just did better than any other college reciever his last year of college. Then got drafted late, then was traded to the Bears, then languised on the practice squad, now... Brian will be lucky if he makes it in the 5-6 round, and even luckier if he gets limited fullback play in the NFL. History supports this (Brock Forsey)

I would also recommend not getting too excited about Leonards chances. I'm guessing mid rounds draft and blocking fullback. Really, does anyone think that there is a coach in the NFL that is going to give him prime time carries? I don't see it. Much too risky. If Luke Staley could be discarded then Leonard doesn't stand a chance. But I hope I'm wrong!

Luke Staley didn't have the benefit of continuous combine coverage, something that is a huge advantage for Brian. People got to see what he is made of. He also seems to be getting a good media buzz.

I just hope that if Leonard IS given a shot, that he produces, big time. If he gets noticed and 'buzz' from the media but fails to produce on the field, it is going to be worse for white running backs in the future, not better.

This thinking that he won't be drafted as a running back is exactly what the brotha and all their adoring white idiot fans want you to beleive. Things happen in trends the black quarterback has been around after many said they would never be able to play the position me included. The idea that this clean cut white athlete will never be given a chance is absurd if it was any other sport or any other position besides running back. Leonard will be given a chance by some team he will have to seize his oppurtunity or his career could very well languish in obscurity only time will tell. I for one am tired of the excuses and reasons whites can't run the football what kind of society have we become that something so blatantly racist as this is accepted as the norm. NFL wake up and start giving the white running back a chance. It all starts with Leonard, and then let the flood gates of oppurtunity open wide for all those wishing to play the position. Let Leonard be our Warren Moon.Edited by: White Power

White "team player"(Leonard) = blocking bag in NFL

That's just the way it is unless Leonard decides to grow some big balls and actually challenge coaches who play him at FB. You can't be afraid to stand up to coaches in football especially if you think your better at another position. Personally I stood up to my j.v. coach back in the day and told him I wanted to be moved to CB(from OLB). I was a 6'0 white CB a rarity in h.s. football. It worked out well and I had a good run. They usually play only short white guys and blacks at CB on the h.s. level. They make the 6'0 and over white guys usually play safety of beef up and play LB.

he has already said he wants to play RB and is looking like he will stick to it by losing weight and running a good 40

He has stood up so far and said I want to play running back. He said it at the combine and during countless interviews. Leonard is no dummy he knows what he is doing. He knows in order to rock the boat you have to make waves, and I feel that he has let it be known of his true intentions whether he is allowed to play the position he wants remains to be seen. I beleive that he will be a running back at the next level some team will take him. He is too good of a talent to be wasted at fullback. Sometimes athletics have to come down to talent and not skin color, Leonard can be just as good or better than most running backs coming into the leauge this draft. He has got to be given the chance to prove his worth.Edited by: White Power
