The more and more I watch Stanford and look up and down there depth chart I can honestly say they will win the BCS. Obviously I am very biased because of my football worship of McCaffrey but David Shaw is a very good coach and Stanford has truly a good # of trick plays that they are not afraid to run with ubiquity.
They also have a very strong defense returning with I think about 7 or 8 starters coming back. They will at least win the Pac 12. Even if McCaffrey goes down their back up rb is almost as good and runs a 10.5 100 meters. I only question the wr's outside of white guy Trent Irwin. Shaw may be blackbut he seems like a decent guy and I have seen him hype McCafrrey on a good # of occasions. Most people will pick Bama' but this is just a hunch. Their offensive line will reload and be just as dominant as they were last year. One more thing about last year's team. Their wr's that did play really did a consistent job of blocking downfield. That only comes from good coaching.

I like Iowa a lot. They are returning CJ Beathard - a very underrated and under appreciated qb nationally. Their defense is also stout and offense shouldn't skip a beat with Beathard at the helm.

The thing about Stanford is they are replacing Hogan at Qb so they might take a step back this season because they need to break in the new quarterback.

Both of Stanford's new quarterbacks may be untested but they are almost Hogan clones and behind what will most likely be another great offensive line and defenses concentrating on stopping the future Heisman winner they should get extra time in the pocket or to set up play - action pass plays. They are both tall , strong and just athletic as Hogan. Not enough people gave credit to Hogan for his athleticism as he is no Manziel running he was pretty damn good though. If they can get by the Kansas State opener unscathed I think they can run the table though I do see a vastly improved ( very black ) USC team causing them problems. USC is going to be very good as well this year.

USC depends on the QB situation as well. Both Stanford and USC lost really good QBs to the NFL. USC does have two white defensive players to keep an eye on at least in Porter Gustin and Cameron Smith.
