Looks like Kovalev beat Ward into retirement. I knew he took the worst of the damage in those fights but this is unexpected. I expected him to take 12-18 months off and then come back but it looks like he is done. This article calls him #1 pound for pound but none of those lists are official. I could never have him #1 after the way he "won" those fights.

Kovalev will be thinking "Wisha, coulda and shoulda." The 1st time Ward hit him low in the second fight, he should have done the same. Now he is stuck with the 2nd loss. I had Kovalev easily winning the 1st. Also, idiot management and questionable moves on Kovalev.
