White starters from 2005 are 9,7,7,10,11,11,10,10,8,7,7,6,and 7 in 2018. This year looks like 6.

Like so many teams this year you figure things might look OK until you delve into the details and realize yet another team with a caste glow.

That said I sort of like their HC Dave Clawson. He doesn't strike me as a true blue caste disciple and his recruiting reflects that. Also Wake was one of those rare teams last season that started a white RB, a white WR in Alex Bachman and a white S. Don't see that too often.

Now sophomore QB Sam Hartman will be a back up. He showed flashes last season when he started so he could end up starting at some point this season too.

Others on the two deep include OL Allen Rappleyea and Michael Jurgens. Also LB Chase Monroe should see the field. TE Brandon Chapman.

But to me the most important new players are two stud freshman WRs. Taylor Morin might get PR duties at some point and has terrific speed. Highly rated Nolan Groulx has exceptional moves , great hands and true quickness. Both are slots and while nothing is certain I get a feeling we might see both of them on the field at some point during the season. Not as highly rated as the above two they brought in a multi sport WR named JD Kavel who might contribute down the road.

Two key returnees include RB Cade Carney of course who went over 1,000 yards last season. And junior S Luke Masterson who played really well. NFL talents? Maybe.

Offense:

OG-Nathan Gilliam
OG Sean Maginn
OT-Jake Benzinger
RB- Cade Carney
TE-Jake Freudenthal

Defense:
S-Luke Masterson

Hartman was really good as a true freshman. He was injured and of course lost the job - something that only seems to happen to whites.
