2017 Southern Miss Golden Eagles

Since 2006, Southern Miss has had 5, 8, 5, 5, 2, 6, 6, 4, 4, 7, and 6 white starters. It looks to be 6 again this year, which should make them the whitest FBS school in Mississippi again this year. Interesting to note that starting WR Chase Whitehead is a transfer from USF where he was evidently not in the rotation at all before coming to USM to contribute. This is very similar to the ultra-shifty Casey Martin from two years ago who transferred from Houston to Southern Miss and developed into their best wideout. Both players are about the same size as well.
