Here are your starting white players for Brian Kelly and the Fighting Irish. Since 2005, Notre Dame has had 10, 11, 11, 11, 10, 10, 11, 11, 9, 8, 6, and 8 white starters. It looks like 8 again, with a possibility to drop down to 7 if Trumbetti loses his position battle. Once again, Brian Kelly is gong with an upside-laden black QB. Durham Smythe has been a very consistent player at TE, yet finds himself possibly usurped for a starting job by, you guessed it, an upside laden black. I do think Smythe will keep his job though. Offensively, watch the left side of Notre Dame's line, with Mike McGlinchey and Quenton Nelson aiming to be first round picks next season. Both of these guys are absolute studs. On defense, the one to watch is junior Rover Drue Tranquill, who may very well lead the Fighting Irish in tackles this season.

He's recruited two white QBs for 2018 and 2019, so that position should lighten up in the future. He's also recruited a few more defensive players as well. I think the Irish will be up around 9-10 white starters in the future, provided our guys pan out. Backups on this year's edition to watch for: QB Ian Book, slot WR Chris Finke, TE Nic Weishar, the entire backup OL with the exception of LG, and pretty much nothing on defense at the moment.
