Thanks Frederic! I just saw he could've represented France on the site Transfermarkt.

I agree about Holland and Belgium - these two will easily be the darkest Euro squads besides "France." England may not be that bad; as I've said, they'll have 8-9 white starters most likely.

probably because he played for many years in france so he got the french passport

That makes sense, then. I wasn't aware of where he played his club football.

It looks like Neymar might've tweaked an ankle or something in warm-ups just a second ago as well, but I think he'll be fine.

everything can happen with brazil, they don't have much talent but they are very physical and above average in skill
go croatia!
i hope that rakitic will have the oportunity to kiss his boyfriend on the pitch at the end of the game
he's a great player though, very good signing for barcelona

I don't think Rakitic is gay. I just did a quick search, and it looks like he's got a beautiful wife and daughter:

Go Croatia!! I just hope Eduardo or Sammir doesn't come on and get the match winner though...

wow, almost a goal from croatia
the cross came from marcelo's side
expect this to happen a lot because marcelo can't defend, he lost his place in the starting 11 at real madrid

I remember when he did that, haha but I didn't get the sarcasm for a second there.

Croatia's had a couple of chances so far... they've started pretty well.

1-1 after a goal by neymar (bad goalkeeping by the croatian)
neymar should have been sent off after elbowing rakitic i think a few minutes earlier

Here in the US, the commentator said something like: "No need to worry about that, it's just a forearm," or something like that.:dodgy:

That was some bad defending by the Croatians there for sure. Let's see how they respond.

on french TV lizarazu (former french international) and wenger said that it could have been a red card because it was obviously intentional

I agree with that. The Wenger and Lizarazu sound very objective and fair. Brazil is a favorite at ESPN for sure.

The slow motion replay showed clearly that Neymar was looking away from the ball at Modric a second or two before the clash. So he knew exactly where Modric would be.

There was also bad refereeing when the ball went behind the Croatian goal line yet no goal kick was called. Instead it was played back to Oscar who almost scored.

the referee will never give a red card to a "star player" early in the opening match, espacially if the player is brazilian
it's unfair

What a BS penalty call by the ref!!!! Fred is a diving cheat, like the rest of Brazil.

I was fully expecting the ref to give a penalty the first time a Brazilian went down - theatrically - in the box. And now Neymar with two goals could already be on his way to the Golden Boot.

this is not even theatrical, it's totally fake, there was absolutely no foul, no contact

Ian Darke and Steve McManaman (the ESPN commentators) were incensed by the call. That's saying something. If this is any indication, Brazil's going to get their hand held by the refs the entire tournament.

What did Wenger say on French TV about the penalty?

I'm watching an official FIFA feed so I don't expect any criticism from the commentator on any decision made by the refs.

The fix is in... Imagine if the referee made the same penalty call against Brazil? He wouldn't have made it out alive. The sport is extremely flawed when a single, unreviewable, judgment call can decide the entire match.

he said there was absolutely no penalty, no doubt about it, and that people will talk about FIFA again (because they are criticised a lot right now)
