I am not so down. As we get to the final 8 and 4 we will see very few blacks. Argentina, Germany, Netherlands and even Italy should go far. Yes, they have some quota blacks and subs but these are still white teams. I am personally hoping for a Germany v. Argentina final. Maybe some injuries/red cards to oafs like Balotelli and Boateng as well. I still hold out hope for Russia, Croatia, Bosnia and Greece to make the next round and maybe pull a surprise to make the round of 8 or even 4.

the number of african and asian teams are always increasing

concacaf did pretty well this year but they still send the worst team of the world cup almost every time (honduras this time)

Who's not rooting for Argentina? I agree, I think they're are best shot. After Argentina, the next best team would be Germany, and they even start Boateng and two white-looking guys in Khedira (who may not start if Schweinsteiger gets fit) and Ozil.

I just don't get the people that won't root for Argentina. Not all white people have blonde hair and blue eyes...

I'd love to see Russia do well... but not creating very many chances against South Korea makes me think they won't be getting very far.

white teams with a great chance at the title: germany, holland :icon_confused:, argentina


white teams that need to get out of their group:
greece (they need to beat ivory coast, it's very important)
croatia (it will be very hard for them, they will have to beat mexico)
bosnia (they should be able to do it, then they would face france in the next round)
portugal (to kick the US out)
and russia (they are the only white team of their group so they have to do it)

then uruguay and italy will battle, only one of them will make it out of their group, and both could go pretty far

I hope y'all are enjoying the World Cup. I haven't watched a minute of it but I don't criticize anyone that has. While I dislike these faux nationalistic spectacles, similar to the Olympics where the "French" team has no one of real French ancestry and the "German" or "English" team has a roster full of people with no genetic link to the home country. I understand that it's possible to pick and choose the few players that one may feel a kinship with.

What bugs me most about these games is the idea that some country actually represents some segment of the population when they fill their rosters with "diversity" and have so many players that are not native to the home country. When I watch a countries team I want to see the people of that country. Why should I root for one group over another? Just because of the color of their shirts?

That is the essence of american sports, the players all play for some geographic entity that none of them has any relationship with, so the point is to train the fans to cheer for someone that is one of "their" players, when in reality they have nothing to do with them.

I hate that the poison of american sports and it's brainwashing of fans to root for aliens has spread worldwide. I much prefer a team of people that represent the true roots of the country. Can anyone tell me a team that has all or almost all of it's players selected from the genetic natives of the country they represent? Japan perhaps? China? That is the type of team I can root for. I like truth in advertising.

I completely agree with you Jaxvid. What's the fun in rooting for a national team when 8 of the starters have no connection to the country (Switzerland)? Yesterday, the announcer in the France Switzerland match said that only 8 (I believe) of the 23 players on the Swiss roster actually had two Swiss parents? How can any Swiss person even root for that team? If this keeps up, what's the point in having a World Cup for nations? If we end up getting a bunch France-like countries in the Euro teams in the future, why would anybody watch that. It takes a sick individual to enjoy cheering for a "team" that doesn't represent them at all.

And for the teams, it's mostly the non-white players in these countries that have no connection to their countries.

about japan, if they don't have a brazilian player this time that's the first world cup they play without a brazilian player
they had one in 1998, 2002, 2006, and in 2010 they had a brazilian who was half japanese half white brazilian

The average Falkland Islander (Scottish and Welsh) has deeper roots than white Argentinians like Cristina Kirchner or for that matter a lot of white Irish, Polish, and Italian Ellis Island immigrants to America. The brand of football they were playing for having three of the best dribblers on the planet(Messi,Aguero,Di Maria) was atrocious!

Yep. They promote this crap. I remember when they played in the last World Cup.

The only way Khedira, Ozil, or Boateng will ever get benched is if they get injured. It's ridiculous that Loew plays these guys at all times, even if they've missed the year with a knee injury, or haven't been in the best form.

Yes,Khedira was also the worst player on the pitch in the CL final(quite an achievement,as Benzema too was on the same pitch).

Tim Cahill is the tournament's hero for me,so far - he took out Martins Indi,the ugliest black in the tournament! Hopefully Martins Indi won't play any further part in the tournament.

I don't know either... I'd take Kuyt or Hentelaar in place of those guys any day!! I think Depay and Wijnladum have gotten on because Strootman (starter) and Van der Vaart are out injured.. the Dutch did use 9 white starters through a lot of their "important" qualifying games and friendlies I believe.
