From Bill Simmons's draft diary:

"Utah picks NCAA near-legend Gordon Hayward ninth. He was two inches away from being the real Jimmy Chitwood. I loved everything about that pick: Made sense for the Jazz (they needed a perimeter scorer); I can make Utah/white guy jokes about it (what's better than Utah stealing the best available white guy from Indiana?); and, by the way, if you don't think Hayward is going to cause a riot among Utah women, you don't know Utah well enough. They may as well have drafted Zac Efron and converted him to Mormonism.

Bilas says Hayward reminds him of "Luke Jackson coming out a couple of years ago." According to my Jay Bilas Thesaurus, that means "I think he'll be out of the league in three years."

Is there any doubt that if Bill Simmons ever made a single "black guy joke", he'd be permanently banned from ever writing another column? But, he can mock and ridicule "white guys" all the time, without ever worrying about any sort of consequence at all.

The nobodies who were drafted this year will soon be forgotten with the exception of perhaps a handful. I really wish the NBA would implode as soon as possible, but as long as DWFs continue to attend games, I don't expect this 80% black league to change at all.

We know that there is a huge discrepancy between what the NBA announces as attendance at games and what the turnout really is at many games. And who knows how many tickets are sold at reduced prices or simply given away? And of course corporations in every NBA city buy up large numbers of tickets for employees and clients. The number of actual DWFs still buying season tickets may be down quite a bit.

If the NBA received the same amount of media coverage as the NHL there would be only one of those two leagues still in existence and it wouldn't be the NBA. But the media (e.g. the anti-white Cultural Marxist system that runs the country) won't let the NBA go down. The league will continue to get media coverage way above the general interest level of the public, and if need be money (overtly or covertly) will be pumped into the league to keep it going as is or close to it.Edited by: Don Wassall

Another thing that makes me mad is that most of the athletic white guys rarely get to play if they are even lucky enough to get drafted. The league seems to only want unathletic shooting white guys or else a few big centers to give fouls. On top of that, guys like David Lee, Joe Alexander and many others need to be in the dunk contests but you have to be invited.
The nba will continue to go down hill unless they draft more whites. I truely believe that they would rather fail than to add more diversity(more whites, asians) to the nba. All I can say is to be careful what you wish for.

Diversity? What are you talking about white lightning? The NBA is in great shape. Didn't you hear that they recently received the top mark, an "A" for diversity?

NBA Receives A For Diversity

An 80% black league gets an A for diversity.

Iam suprised that Parakhouski(belarus) and Shved (russia) were not drafted.
Parakhouski is 7-0/275 and 6% bodyfat, with unlimited potential and Shved is even better still, a real future all-star.

I was reading my local paper a few days ago and according to them the 2010 NBA Finals had the highest amount of viewers since the 1998 Finals. The 1998 Finals if you recall were between the Bulls and Jazz. The Jazz had lots of white talent such as Hornacek and Stockton.

It's interesting that there were barely any Europeans or other foreign players drafted. I guess the league hasn't benefited from the likes of Nowitzki, Kirilienko, Gasol, and Ginobili. Maybe Jesse Jackson threatened David Stern to stop giving the young brothas jobs away to a bunch of crackers.

This was a boring draft of no-names.

Most boring draft in recent memory, I barely paid any attention to it in the last few months and last night which is unusual for me. What happened to Scheyer was a crime, but sometimes a free agent can pick a team better suited for his talents than when you are a draft pick forced to try to make that particular team. I would love to see the Mavs pick him up.

Agreed. Usually I am excited to watch the NBA draft every year and am anxious to see where most of our guys go. Unfortunately just from reading all the media garbage ripping talented white players leading up to the draft, I had a feeling the "whiteys" would get shafted.

Scheyer is a hell of a player as many here have posted. If he doesn't make it in the NBA maybe a career in Europe wouldn't be that bad of an idea(ala Nick Calathes). Zoubek might be one of the most improved players I have ever watched!! As a freshman he seemed like a big immobile blob and now he's a great addition to have. He can rebound, he can block shots, and he's a team player. You'd think that would earn him a role on some NBA team, not to mention he's frickin 7'1! I am utterly shocked that the Celtics drafted Harangody! Bout time they get some actual Celtic blood on the team. Bouldin should have been drafted, he pretty much ran the show last year at Gonzaga. The analysts want you to believe that the Zags are more "athletic" than they have ever been, but look where that got them this year. St. Mary's rightfully put them in their place in their conference tourney.

The only reason I can think of, besides obvious discrimination regarding the lack of Euro whites being drafted,is that NBA teams do not want to waste a lottery pick ona guy like Ricky Rubio and have him turn them down and stay in Europe for a couple more years....

Oh and another thing. Every year the NBA has to dig harder to find "talented" black nobodies who have unlimited potential as athletes and all that other bullsh*t. In many ways the NBA almost focuses more on the athletic side of things then I think a lot of other sports do, even football.

Was this the worst draft for white players ever? I'm not sure but 8 whites taken out of 60 picks is pathetic. Last year 14 whites were actually drafted so that is almost 25%. Quite a few Europeans went last year. The problem though is that most of them are still playing overseas as of now.

Scheyer and Bouldin can compete with players like JR Smith and Andre Miller. Really disturbing how they went undrafted. Zoubek can be a serviceable player ala Greg Ostertag.

Harangody, despite his solid career in Notre Dame, is more likely Scalabrine's successor, waterboy-cheerleader. I hope he proves those Zulus wrong, but chances of that are remote at best.

White European players are more cautious than ever thanks to the struggles of their predecessors like Fernandez, Rodriguez, and Milicic. Patience was never the NBA's calling card. When you get drafted, they not only want you to come over, but to show results right away. The NBA has been spoiled by the awesome rookie seasons of players like Jordan and Lebron.

Vast majority of white players take time to adjust and excel to NBA standards. Nowitzki, Nash, Stockton, etc., are prime examples.

One possible solution to this dilemma is to raise the age limit to 22 years. White players tend to mature between ages 22-26.

According to all these draft "experts" neither Bouldin or Scheyer would have been able to create their own shots at the NBA level. They could do it fairly easily on the college level so I don't see how they would struggle in the NBA. Sure there would be faster players than them but I'd say their speed would be about average in the NBA which is good enough to have a nice career.

Nowitzki was the laughing stock of the league when he was drafted by Nelson. It did take him a while to adjust but playing in Europe had something to do with that as well.

As far as Nash goes he's the most hated guard in the league. I can't even tell you how many times people have told me he's over rated because he's white.

I see the need of a Bird-like white player more than ever. In the last 30 years, there hasn't seen a white rookie with an impact like Bird's rookie season. Every white rookie I've seen (in my lifetime) always had a slow impact. Gasol's rookie season (17.6 ppg) was the best outside Bird's rookie season in the last 30 years, and it's still quite a blessing he became Laker. Even McHale took some time to blossom.

The only hope now for guys like Scheyer and Bouldin is to do a Brad Miller (undrafted free agent). Teams like Dallas, New York, Indiana, Milwaukee, Toronto, and Phoenix could get these guys, if they choose to.

Actually Keith Van Horn's rookie season was even better than Gasol's. He averaged 19.7 ppg his rookie season on 42 % field goal shooting. Pretty solid numbers if you ask me.

The Bulls also had Rusty Larue, Bill Wennington, and Joe Kleine. The Jazz also had Greg Foster, Adam Keefe, and Greg Ostertag. Both teams were actually close to being half white.

Gasol was 2001-02 Rookie of the Year though.

Van Horn was for a time the Nets franchise player. He had the best FIRST 3-years by any white American:

1997-98 - 62 games, 19.7 ppg.
1998-99 - 42 games, 22.8 ppg.
1999-00 - 80 games, 19.0 ppg. (career-best season)

Then came Kenyon Martin and Jason Kidd, it was bye bye for him. I was so frustrated how that 2001-02 season unfolded. How can someone that good become a 3rd option player and not see much action the 4th quarter? He did enjoy a good playoff that year, helping beat the already coal-Black Celtics, but to lose to the Lakers in the Finals.

Van Horn was never the same after that tumultuous season.

I didn't feel like starting a new thread for the N(egro)BA draft which is tonight. I was reading through some old treads I posted alot in back in 09 regarding the draft and prospects. Man, have I changed alot in the last few years. I have essentially boycotted the NBA and happily embraced hockey (it helped that my hometown Rangers had a great season). Anyway, I felt like torturing myself today and looking at some mock drafts to get a sense of which Whites will be drafted. Depressing doesn't begin to describe it.

There are only 2 Whiteys locked into the 1st round, F/C Tyler Zeller and F/C Meyers Leonard. Other than them, French SC Evan Fournier may slide into the first as well as F/C Miles Plumlee. So a best case scenario of 4 of 30 is despicable and dare I say, "an all-time worse". The 2nd round mocks look no better.

I will not watch this mess but I do hope our few fellas that do get picked go to White "friendly" teams.

Yes, this should be a historically bad draft. My guess is only two whites go in round one, but Plumlee could sneak in at the very end, viewed as a career white bench player.

Is the French guy even white? Doing a google image search, he looks white in some photos...in others he looks sort of exotic? I have seen the same photos.

He has a French surname, so his father is French. He might be half Arab or could be pure French but have Mediterranean
ancestry. French people from the south of France can tan quite dark and look much different then the people that border Germany and are across the channel from England.

A new thread should have been started for this year's draft rather than posting on the 2010 draft thread, for both search engine purposes and those searching CF for a current thread.

The next person to post on the 2012 NBA draft, please start a new thread.
