Greg Lewis was cut today, so obviously Pats like what they have in Edelman.

Hopefully Edelman is the Patriots kick/punt return guy this year.

More trouble in paradise:

Belichick: Discipline Matters Internal

Four New England Patriots players, including receiver Randy Moss, were sent home from Gillette Stadium for being late for an 8 a.m. meeting Wednesday, according to a league source.

In addition to Moss, the other players were defensive end Derrick Burgess and linebackers Adalius Thomas and Gary Guyton, according to the source. The players were apparently delayed by weather conditions. All four were absent from Wednesday afternoon's practice.

I was SHOCKED to find out that all of the players disciplined were BLACK! Must have been out late at a strip club.

Here's another story that talks about how the Patriots are struggling, rebuilding, bla bla bla. It talks about how the defense lost great players (Bruschi, Vrabel, etc.) and added malcontents (although the story doesn't use that word) like Adalius Thomas and Shawn Springs as part of the problem. And then it goes into great detail about how the offense is stagnant because of no running game and no recieving threat out of the backfield since Lawrence Maroney is blessed with hands of stone. I know the solution to the Pats problems. Get Danny Woodhead from the Jets, and all will be okay on the skill position side of the ball.

I think pigs would fly before the Patriots acquired Danny Woodhead and actually played him. They already have two white receivers in Welker and Edelman and in today's NFL that is being generous.

I agree, wa33, but I'm just offering the solution which is the most obvious to folks here at CF. You as well as I know that it won't happen, but it would solve the problem. I wonder if Nate Kmic is still in playing shape, as he could do it, too.

Adalius Thomas is an over-hyped, over-paid bust in New England, and a prima donna to boot. Maybe Belichick is finally realizing that there are many deserving Whites that can play defense very well besides the now-departed Mike Vrabel. Mike Wright has thrived with increased playing time, there's no reason to believe Ninkovich won't also.

Patriots signed OLB Rob Ninkovich to a contract extension through 2011.

<DIV ="s_pNewsTextMain">This deal was finalized on Nov. 6, but is just being reported now. Ninkovich gets a $350,000 signing bonus and will make $1.3 million over the next two seasons. He is primarily a special teamer, but with Adalius Thomas constantly in Bill Belichick's doghouse, Ninkovich's playing time on defense could be on the rise.Edited by: Don Wassall

If Ninkovich and Wright become regular starters on defense, I think the Patriots will become the team to root for in the AFC playoffs. The Colts, despite their complete lack of white defenders, are also an option.

The Packers, assuming Nelson and Havner get substantial playing time, should be our NFC team.

Gee, who else might be signed? Todd Pinkston? James Thrash? David Terrell? "It ain't over till it's over" is truly a saying that applies to black scrubs and journeymen in the NFL. From Rotoworld:

Patriots signed WR David Patten to a one-year contract. Patten caught 57 passes for 792 yards and three scores in the wideout-friendly Saints offense in 2007, but turns 36 before the season and has been a leg muscle tear waiting to happen for the past two years. He'll compete for a roster spot in camp, and isn't likely to help as more than a fourth receiver.

Shame. They have two GREAT white receivers but are signing ham & eggers who happen to have the proper pigmentation.

You're probably right, but just the fact that they signed him is annoying. The way the NFL recycles black retreads over and over is pathetic.

TE Chris Baker just signed with Seattle (surely as a backup to John Carlson; I mean not even in the NFL can he be considered a threat to Carlson), leaving the Patriots with no tight ends to speak of on their roster. Would be nice to see them snag Dennis Pitta, but Belichick tends to be a creature of habit so I expect an afflete or "project" of some kindis what they'll end up with.

If Belichick is a creature of habit...maybe he can draft another versitile athlete from Kent State...Jameson Konz...Julian Edelman sure had a nice rookie season. Pitta would be a nice pick up as well!

I have a feeling that the Pats are going to draft Toby Gerhart. He fits in with their all american image. They need a everydown running back to help get them back to the super bowl. Toby is the man. They pick at #22 so he will be there. The question is will they take him. I sure hope so. Either New England, San Diego and or even Texas would be a good fit for Toby.

Really? All talks I've heard involve Bellichick wanting Tim Tebow. I think they have 4 picks in the 2nd round...so Toby or Tim may very well fall into their lap. I still believe that Tebow will be a 1st round pick. I believe Toby will be an early 2nd round pick (33-45 overall). CJ Spiller was a great player at Clemson, and he's also black"¦thus he will be taken ahead of Gerhart regardless of team need (scat or power back).

The Pats have made some insanely moronic 1st and 2nd round draft picks of late, especially on defense. For the longest time, they needed quality LBs to replace their aging vets and scrub youth players....so they passed on guys like Paul Puz, Dan Connor, Connor Barwin, Clay Matthews, etc, in favor of random black scrubs (pencil-neck safety, Pat Chung, for instance). We saw the fruits of their labors on display this past season.

Bellichick loves black defenders and black TEs. If he were to whiten those areas, they would be undefeated every season. At least they finally let former 1st round TE Ben Watson, one of the worst starting TE's since Robert Royal or Bubba Franks, walk via free agency. The do-nothing TE Chris Baker was also not resigned. I've heard talk of the Pats trading for TE Greg Olsen...which would be quite wise.

He probably got tanned from his playing-days with the Houston Cougars.

Being in New England, he probably looks like Casper now!
