True enough referendum. Michigan had 8 white starters in 2005, 7 in 06', and 8 in 07'.

That seems to be the general consensus. In some of the source materials I used, they talked about Threet probably not being the best QB for Rod's system. Read-"He's white." Things will definitely change in Ann Arbor over the next few years.

I don't know what others think, but if McGuffie stands out over the next 4 years, and wishful thinking, is the first white RB to win Heisman in many years, it wouldn't matter what the rest of the team is like. That's what keeps my hopes up at all about UM.

Good optimism Electric Slide! I forgot about McGuffie. You are right, if he stars i could give a damn about the rest of the team. If he wins the heisman, he will be the one remembered in history.

Thank you celticdb15! I try to look at things this way... Any time I see a white player succeed, I know it has a ripple effect through the universe in some sort of way. If McGuffie is a star, it may only change a few people's minds about whites at running back. But it may open up a couple doors for others, and have a positive impact for the future.

RB Kevin Grady was arrested for DUI and may be done at Michigan.

This may open the door for McGuffie. According to some of the Michigan football blogs, Sam is impressing the coaches early with his ability and work ethic.

Michigan running back Kevin Grady has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drunken-driving charge.

Police arrested Grady on July 2 and measured his blood-alcohol level at 0.281 percent, about three-and-a-half times the state's legal limit.

His trial was to have started Thursday in Wyoming District Court but instead entered the plea on July 29.

Grady must either spend three days in jail or perform 24 hours of community service. He also must serve 12 months of probation and pay $3,290 in fines and fees.

The 22-year-old has been suspended from playing but is practicing with the team.

Update to orginal post for new starter info. I didn't include Sam as a starter because it is highly unlikely that he will start most or even half the season, even if he has an other-worldly performance against Utah, assuming he even starts that game.

Too bad he's still wearing that revolution helmet, I hate those

This reminds me of an interesting point that I've made before, but people don't usually understand. Having worn a Revolution, I personally believe they're too light-duty to be worn by a position that sees a lot of contact, such as running back, safety or fullback. People like Jacob Hester who tend to lead with their heads in times of trouble could end up with serious damage, in my opinion.

I think it would be interesting for the NFL to do a study some years from now, to go position-by-position and study people who have worn Revolutions in terms of brain health and function. I don't know if anyone cares, but this was a concern of mine after I suffered from migraines while wearing one in high school and playing strong safety.

Sorry to waste your time. Just wanted to bring that up.Edited by: PhillyBirds
