I told my dad before the fight that Byrd would give it to Hopkins.

Joe really outclassed Hopkins tonight. Hopkins held the entire fight, and didn't really land anything meaningful outside of the straight right in the first. Joe didn't land many hard shots, but he pushed the pace, forced the action, and totally outpunched and outclassed Hopkins.

And, let me repeat what other have stated...

Hopkins got beat by a white boy.

Hopkins realized after a few rounds he was going to get beat by a white boy so he starting making excuses like faking low blows. The way he cried you would've thought Golota hit him

Without watching the fight myself, I've heard it was very exciting.

Fights such as this one are infinately important towards the CF cause. Perhaps if Hopkins had not run his mouth repeatedly with concern winning for his race and "culture," this wouldnt have been as embarressing a loss for him. Obviously, this assh*le got exactly what he deserved. I'm POSITIVE that super-caste ESPN, if they mention it all at, will fail to mention the race issue brought on by a racist black fighter (as is standard).

Hopefully Hopkins will retire in shame, and we never hear his name again in boxing.

Nice work tonight, Joe!

The judge that had it for Hopkins is black (Adelaide Byrd). Surpised?

No surprise there, nor from from Kevin at Yahoo.

LAS VEGASâ€â€￾Joe Calzaghe beat Bernard Hopkins in a split decision in their battle in Las Vegas. Yahoo! Sports had it 114-113 for Bernard Hopkins, Adalaide Byrd 114-113 for Hopkins, Chuck GIampa 116-111 for Calzaghe, Ted Gimza had it 115-112 for Calzaghe.

A great win for Joe Calzaghe.

It`s a shame about the split decision. This will give the blacks a chance to cry foul. They will also say that Joe committed many fouls by hitting black boy, Bernard Hopkins, low on several occasions. However, it sounds like Hopkins just couldn`t take the punishment to the body that the white man, Joe Calzaghe, was delivering.

From what I`ve read so far, it sounds like to me that Joe deserved a clear unanimous decision in this fight.

Kelly Pavlik whipped Jermain Taylor twice.

Maybe we need Joe to whip B-Hop twice to shut him up for good. A rematch across the pond in a few months sounds good to me.

Another win for the good guys! Congratulations, Joe!!!

By the way, anybody have the punch breakdown numbers?

ESPN:

Calzaghe landed 33 percent of his 707 punches, while Hopkins connected with 27 percent of his 468 blows. Calzaghe had the edge in power punches with both total blows and accuracy, and he heavily outjabbed Hopkins.

In perhaps the most telling statistic of all, Calzaghe connected with 232 punches, the most ever landed against Hopkins in his 21 fights that were tracked by CompuBox statistics.

Thanks, Bart. I was just getting ready to post the same thing myself.

The numbers make a very convincing case that Joe Calzaghe deserved the win on points, regardless of a 10-8 first round.

Joe was more accurate, a lot busier, had the edge in power punches etc. Also, the numbers say he was the best fighter Hopkins had ever fought.

Great work, Joe!

The f...ing White Boy Won! I had Joe winning by 3 or 4 point. Bernard is a rotten person. He knows he lost that fight. He has no class, he should have given Joe his due. That little fake, " I hit it in the groin, oh it it hurts" BS is beyond belief. I would have loved it if a chick stroked me like that.

Anyways I am looking forward to the rest of my weekend knowing Joe won. Hatton should take notes. By the way Max Kellerman called a great fight, and his analysis was spot on! A another post about kellerman will be forthcominng. Never call Max but a professional!

A Kevin Iole article finally gets it right:

"Calzaghe had to listen to months of taunts and then wrestled as much as he boxed Saturday. Clearly, he was feeling good about what had happened. And so he couldnÂÂ￾ft resist taking a jab at Hopkins when he was asked if Hopkins had said anything to him before leaving the ring.

ÂÂ￾gHe didnÂÂ￾ft say much,ÂÂ￾h Calzaghe said, grinning devilishly, ÂÂ￾gbecause heÂÂ￾fd just gotten his ass kicked by a white guy.ÂÂ￾h"

Thanks, Joe Calzaghe! You`ve made us proud!

I love it!</span> I bet on Joe back in Dec. and never looked back! I saw how everyone doubted the old man, but I knew he'd fight this racist POS with everything he had!

Joe Calzaghe is a man among men, and I wish him nothing but happiness &amp; good fortune in his retirement!

You deserved this Joe!

I apologize for jumping in on this, but boxing is a passion, and I've been following JC for a while. Pride is an understatement, to say the least for this fighter!

Emotion got the best of me, &amp; I'll try to be more respectful in future posts.

Great site, by the way.

Congrats to Joe! Excellent fight. Joe was able to change his gameplan on the fly to disrupt Hopkins and take it to him. I see either Pavlik or Jones on the horizion. Nice fight Joe!

If Joe hadn't been so foolish in the first round then It would've been a much easier fight for Joe. What really annoyed me is that Cortez allowed Hopkins to deploy excessive grabbing/holding tactics which is exactly what he didn't allow Hatton do against Mayweather. Joe showed his workrate once again but not so much the skill that we've become used to.

Anyways, I'm glad thats out the way now, and it's got to be Roy Jones next. I'd hate to see Joe v Pavlik, my two fave boxers. I doubt it would happen anyway because I think Calzaghe would see Pavlik as a BIG threat to his clean sheet especially with the age on Pavliks side and his KO ability. I think Joe is only looking for big names who are around his age.

Welcome aboard Capt Larsen. Thanks for the great photo of Joe. This was a great weekend for our fighters with Joe grinding out a great win against a HOFer, but f..king sore loser Hopkins. This man afterward gave the most dullusional explaination for his "win".

It's important to note that Joe Calzaghe moved up a weight class, and it's probably difficult to adjust at a new weight against that division's topflight contenders.

That being said, I believe Calzaghe was in complete control throughout the fight, especially in the latter half.

Hopkins' histrionic moaning about low blows and cheap shots are typical Serena-Williams-esque attempts to complain about the result after its inevitable conclusion.

Stay tuned for accusations of racist fight fixing.

Can you IMAGINE the commentary in the MSM against Calzaghe if he had pulled a similar stunt?

"Quit being a b--ch, Joe," they'd say.

Hopkins was outclassed throughout the match and had they fought a 1960s style 15 rounder Hopkins might have even been knocked out at the end. It was clear that Calzaghe had better stamina and was the aggressor throughout, hence the decision went rightfully his way/

Moreover, if Calzaghe had said before the fight, "I will not lose to a black boy..." this fight would have been media-huge. John Saunders and Michael Wilbon would do daily commentaries -- for ESPN TV and radio -- on how the ugly, virulent bigot Calzaghe should be beaten into submission and then castigated from decent society. Hopkins' win against the forces of darkness would be story number one on all network newscasts, and headlined in every major newspaper. Hank Aaron would expound on the ugly "racism" he faced when he closed in on Babe Ruth's HR record. Dubya would present Hopkins with a Medal of Freedom. (Hopkins might be a no-show at the White House if the South African government invited him to be honored on the same day by Mandela). Obama, Hillary, and McCain would vie for photo ops with Hopkins.

But the races were reversed, so no great media uproar, at the time of Hopkins' comments or now.

The CompuBox Punch Stats indicate that the split decision was unfair to Calzaghe who should have been awarded a unanimous decision. I thought that Hopkins fought a boring, uninspired and weasel-like fight with his incessant holding and his pretending to be hit by a low blow. He should have been penalized in more than one round for the holding which the referee allowed him to do for most of the fight.

Max Kellerman is problematic as a commentator for reasons that have been often articulated by Caste Football posters, the principal one being his cleverly subtle, negative attitude about white fighters. His interviews after this fight however, are another recent example in what I perceive as a trend by him toward more nearly balanced commentating and less anti-white bias. Perhaps he now realizes that white fighters are better than he thinks they are or perhaps it's simply that he recognizes that it is futile to attempt to distort the obvious reality that whites are demonstrating dominance in boxing and doing so not only because of hard work and willpower, but also as a result of skill and athletic talent.

Calzaghe won every single round. Every single round easily according to compubox. He landed twice as many shots. Anyone know who the moronic judge is who gave Hopkins the edge? I would sure like to know.

Kellerman had a look on his face like he was disgusted and embarrassed with Hopkins. I loved it
smiley32.gif
It was like he couldn't believe that he had to talk about another white fighter which he loathes so much.
