Great send-off game for Big Ben, one of the all-time greats. I'm glad for his tremendous and often under-appreciated career and sad to see it end. As I mentioned in the Big Ben thread, he came into the league just as Caste Football was being launched and he was the last NFL star from that time still around other than the GOAT. Fantastic career, and a class act. Despite how the announcers presented it during the game, it wasn't always a "love affair" between the city and Ben. In many ways the DWFs didn't deserve Big Ben but it's all ending well and he's cemented his place in the pantheon of Pittsburgh athletes.

Absolutely. The Steelers obviously were never "my team" but the guts and sheer talent from Big Ben has been a career for the ages. Maybe not top 5 of all time but maybe top 10 or 12. That can be argued by those who want to argue. I don't. It's not an issue. It's been a great treat to see one of the all-time greats play against the odds at many angles; from the DWFs, to the media and last and certainly most infamously, some of his own teammates. Hats off to him. HOF is certain in five years after next week's finale. That is if they don't sneak in mathematically to the playoffs.

Good for T.J. Watt. 21.5 sacks in 12 games is nuts. If you extrapolate that to a 16 game season you get an absurd 28 2/3 sacks. We can only hope he breaks Strahan's record next week against Baltimore.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Gonna be must see tv next weekend as 4 teams are still trying to make the playoffs.

Then you have Kupp going for the All Time Single Season Receiving Record & TJ Watt the Single Season Sack Record!

Yep, it's gonna be an exciting Sunday. On a related note to your post in the Kupp thread: how many fans and sportswriters complained when Jerry Rice's 1,848 yards in 1995 broke the record of 1,746 that Charley Hennigan set in 14 games in 1961 (which, by the way, extrapolates to 1,995 in a 16 game season, which is higher than the 1,964 mark set by Calvin Johnson in 2012)? Not many, I imagine.

Hennigan is hardly ever talked about beyond his magical season. I remember a good 25 years ago I saw his season listed in a sports almanac and did a who's that? I know in Houston he is known and I think has a wall of fame position in Tennessee but beyond that he is rarely mentioned. When the hall of fame had a super class of senior candidates to clear up some of the backlog of candidates he should have gotten serious consideration for the hall(as should have many others).

When players that are marginal hall of fame candidates in the various big 4 leagues don't get in after a generation only stat nerds tend to know of them if they never watched them play.

I watched my recording of the second half of the Packers game and as I thought before I fell asleep in the first half it was nothing but a scrimmage masquerading as an NFL game.

Ha, media desperately trying to make a story out of this... every news outlet has a piece about it, even Fox News and CNN.. and if it were a white quarterback in question, nobody would care...

This is why Fox News is just as much a joke as CNN and certainly not on "our side." I like Tucker Carlson but pretty much everyone else on Fox ranges from mediocre to laughable. Fox News is owned by the same (((people))) who own all other mass media, and pushes the same anti-white agenda. Oh no! Wicked rayciss whyte coach has no faith in incompetent blekk quarterback! Call Ben Crump!

Great send-off for Big Ben. One of the all-time greats, not just for his skill, but his longevity.

TJ Watt is a beast! Showed why he absolutely deserves to be the highest paid defensive player in the league.

That was a well-deserved send-off for the great Big Ben. I felt throughout his career he never received the accolades he deserved.

After seeing his comments about Mond I hope Zimmer is back next year!

The hell with Mond, Zimmer’s got himself a hot young girlfriend....
I don’t usually give a crap about this kind of stuff, but go Zim!

Agreed, I enjoy Tucker as he will talk about topics most others (and no other msm) will cover. That being said Fox News has seriously deteriorated over the last few years.

17 not as good as 16. A little flat. Next week will have high stakes game and some lame duck games. A chance for some of our guys to get a look. Not that it matters as a lot of times their fate has already been decided. But still...

Cousins was born August 19, 1988, which makes him 33. He should still have several years of good football left.

My memory is faulty. For some reason I thought he was born in 1990. Guess I should have looked it up.

The record is 22.5. TJ has an excellent chance to break the record. One sack will tie it and two sacks will break it.

I think he has a good chance.

What is also great is that both TJ Watt and JJ Watt would be towards the top of the all time single season list. I think TJ will break the record. He will be flying all over
the field. You can try your best but your not stopping this Man Child TJ Watt!

Just did a brief check on Kittles numbers, as of Dec 15 he was at 850 yds with 3 games to go, next 2 games he aquires 50 yds more, now has 1 game legt to go over 100 yds to reach 1,000 for the season. My question is this: he was at 850 yds with 3 games left, he literally was being ignored in the last 2 games, was this intentional to deny him the chance of hitting 1,000 yds or was he covered that well? It rings suspicious to me...

Garappolo ignored Kittle in Week 16 as they were going out of their way to get the ball to Deebo Samuel in that game. Week 17 is explained by Trey Lance being a terrible quarterback so far. No way to know for sure what's going on, but the 49ers are on a hot streak going into the playoffs. Kittle went over 1,000 yards in '18 and '19 before having injury problems last year, and thousand yard seasons by White TEs aren't rare, so although no outside of the team's coaching staff can answer your question it may be that they were using his excellent blocking skills more to help the run game, and also to help Samuel, who has been the best receiver/runner in the league this season after Cooper Kupp. It's been frustrating to watch, as I've posted about a few times over the past two weeks. If Lance is the starter next season I would expect Kittle's numbers to fall noticeably.
