This message is for jacknyc. Henrik Larsson is only 21 years of age so he is just starting his career. Yes covid and other things have slowed him down but he has the talent to succeed. If he
was older I would agree but the kid is 21! He will get back to running fast. Look at Kranz, Wagner and Almas all german sprinters who are not doing good outdoors. All I'm saying is be patient
and I think we will see Larsson get back to form soon. I want to see all of these guys succeed. We have so few elite white sprinters as it is. We need more guys to root for.

Kevin Kranz hasn't ran a single 100m either this season sadly. Out of our current sprinters who do you think will break 10 seconds next WhiteLightning?

I would say Rohan Browning. After that I would say Matthew boling. Quinn also has a chance but Browning and Boling I believe are a lock this summer or next at the latest!

Oregon Freshman Cole Hocker wins the 1500M

So happy to see Cole Hocker bring back memories of Steve Prefontaine. Hocker won both the NCAA Indoors Nat'l Champ and NCAA Outdoor Nat'l Championship! :)

Sad to see Georgia lose the relay but I'm hoping Boling didn't go all out as he is saving his best for the 100 and 200 meters. Also Laird is just amazing so no disgrace to lose
to this kid at all.

He has a better shot in the 200m, but still it will be a real battle for him to medal there.
The race is at 6:37pm PST.

Matt Boling runs 10.19 for 6th. Laird wins in 10.05.
Matt will get there.

Like he has been in most of his races this outdoor season just running stiff and tight. Fighting himself more than anything. Still so proud of the kid. The pressure on his shoulders
has to be unbelievable and it would crack most kids. Learn and grow from this Matthew!

Boling was never challenged in high school. Now he is challenged in every race. That's why he is running tight and tense.
So he has to adjust to running against this level of competition. His coaches need to help him with this.
But as I mentioned before, Georgia's head coach has resigned. I don't know how that will effect Boling.

Don't get me wrong. LSU has alot of amazing athletes all over the track but I find it a little strange that they are dominating almost every competition. Maybe it's nothing but it's just
somehow smells like those magical yams from Jamaica. Even their freshmen are world class. Wow is all I can say. They already clinched the team nat'l championship.

6th place for Boling in the 100 (and probably would have been 7th if the guy inside him hadn't pulled up injured). That's disastrous, considering what he was doing before this year: some had him making the Olympic team. Seems like our guys always start off fast but go backward: think of Shirvo (10.03 aged 19 and never went faster); LeMaitre (ran 9.92/19.80 when he'd just turned 21 and never went faster); Craig Pickering (set his lifetime PB aged 20). Had such high hopes for Boling, I actually thought we could have a Bolt-style superstar. How silly of me :(

And now Boling just got 5th in the 200. Another big disappointment.

I think he is overtrained. He needs some time off. He just ran a 20.06 a few weeks ago.

Yes we all feel your frustration but this kid is built different. This to me is more emotional and mental than physical. He beat Laird for the nat'l championship indoors over 200 meters and was crowned
national champion. Give him time. The expectations were a little too much for this early in his career. I'm still as pumped as ever about what he WILL ACCOMPLISH!!

Don't give up on the kid. Yes it was a very tough weekend but he is growing, maturing and learning. Sometimes you have to fail in life before you take those steps forward. As a few other posters here
said it could be a case of overtraining. He is so tight!

That's what I mean - he beat Laird only 6 months ago but now he isn't in the same ballpark. It just seems to be a pattern with white sprinters: peak around age 20 and then decline.

We'll see. He certainly won't be going to the Olympics.

For someone on this message board you don't sound like someone who is rooting for our guys? I'm not trying to be too harsh as you've been here a long time but most of your posts are so negative!

What pattern? Shirvington because Australia has a clean athlete policy. And Lemaitre in the 100 because he was a club sprinter with a high school coach and he was in a double masters degrees program in Engineering and Computer Science?

Allan Wells was 24 when he started training, peaking at 29. Borzov was 23 then had multiple injuries and still came back with 4 months training to win 100m bronze in 76 after being double gold in 72.

Actually I pretty much forgot about this board for 10 years after LeMaitre flopped. Then Boling emerged I started to pay attention again. Of course I'm rooting for our guys, but after having your hopes raised and being disappointed time after time, I guess you just have to be realistic. I thought Boling might be the guy to blow away the competition and head to the Olympics. Not finish 6th at NCAA.

Shirvington ran 10.03 aged 19. To have never run faster than when you were a teenager is.....very odd. And very disappointing. As for Lemaitre, who knows what was going on in that guy's head.

Wells and Borzov were more than 40 years ago, and neither got near 10 seconds.

I can definetly understand the disapointment of not seeing Matthew do well, but he is only a sophmore in college to give up on him now or any of our current guys for some blunders is stupid imo
