A couple of noteworthy performances that haven't been mentioned yet:

Max Burgin, 18, of Britain ran 1:44.75 800 meters last week, which is an European Junior record.
Max was also the European U18 champion in 2018 as a 16 yr old, finishing almost 2 full seconds ahead of his competitors.
Every year he keeps improving and setting records. Definitely one for the future.

Max Burgin has his 1st race against elite level 800m runners, this Sunday in Stockholm. I'm excited to see how he will respond to world class competition.
Also very interested to see how Norwegians Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Karsten Warholm will do. Ingebrigtsen just broke the European 1500m record last week, and Warholm is always knocking on the door of 400m hurdles world record.
Other notables - Adam Gemili and Bruno Hortelano in the 200m, Armand Duplantis in the pole vault, and Femke Bol in the 400m hurdles.

Because of the virus, there are less 'internationals' competing in these big European meets, and more Europeans competing, which is good for them.

Speaking of young, European, female sprinters, like Kaddari (19 yrs old, 11.44) and Tanderud (16 yrs old, 11.52), here's a few more to watch out for:

Rani Rosius, 20 yrs old from Belgium. 11.39 100m 2020. (Pretty cute.)
Vittoria Fontana 20 yrs old from Italy. 11.40 100m EJC 2019
Lily Kaden 18 yrs old from Germany. 11.46
Nikki Anderberg 18 yrs old from Sweden. 11.47

Here's the top 4 European women in the 200m so far this year.
The Netherlands have the top 3, and Daphne Schippers is 3rd among her country women.
The other names you probably don't recognize, but they have one thing in common - the same coach.
I hope Daphne notices how well these others are doing, and considers switching to that same coach!

A dominating performance today in Stockholm by the Norwegian viking, Karsten Warholm!

First he won the 400m hurdles in an incredible time of 46.87. It's the 2nd fastest time ever, and 0.09 from the WR.
He stuttered at the last hurdle and clipped it as he went over, otherwise, and everyone seems to agree on this, he would have broken the WR.
Plus it was not great weather, and windy. It's just a matter of time before he gets the WR, and I really hope it's this season.
Just an FYI, 2nd place was over 2 seconds behind. He ran this race all alone in lane 8 with no one to push him.

A few hours later, he was back on the track running the 400m.
Again, running alone in lane 8, he won the race in 45.05! Fastest time in Europe this year.

This guy is amazing! and I mean that. He is a once in a lifetime talent. Incredible speed endurance.

What was also amazing, was that he was not even winded after his races. Not even breathing hard; not doubled over hands on his knees, or sitting on the track to catch his breath.
He is truly incredible.

Here are clips of his races today:

Long Live the Viking Warrior Karsten Warholm! I'm truely in awe at what he can do on a track. One of the most exciting athletes on earth! :)

Warholm's time of 46.87, would have gotten him 5th place in the 400m race!

Yoshide Kiryu of Japan, ran a 10.09 (0.7w) in the heats, and then won the final in 10.14 (-0.2) in Tokyo.
He is very consistent at times around 10.10, and ran a 9.98 in 2017.

I've been watching this kid closely. Charlie Dobson is a legitimate world class sprinter. Red hair and all he is a very gifted sprinter. He took the silver medal at the 2018 World Under 20 Age Group Championships. Yes I said the silver medal. Today he
won a race in England with a time of 10.12! It was a little over the legal wind but still quite impressive. He is on the verge of some really eye popping times. Keep an eye on this young sprinter. He needs a nickname. Maybe the Red Flash! :)

I talked about Charlie Dobson and his immense talent above. Great Britain(England) also has young sprinters Oliver Bromby and Dominic Ashwell. Watch Oliver Bromby very closely as he has incredible natural talent too!

Dobson had a very good time of 6.64 indoors this season, and ran a 45.84 400m last week.
So a very versatile young sprinter.

Charlie Dobson is also only 20 years of age. He reminds be a little of Bruno Hortelano in the fact that he is competetive over 100, 200 and 400 meters. I think he is meant to be a 100/200 guy but time will tell. His style also reminds me a little of
the long retired Michael Johnson in that he runs very upright. It works for him so I hope he doesn't change anything.

Most of the british sprinters have barely run this summer at Great Britain has been one of the strictest places for covid and their rules. Just in the last month we are finally seeing alot more junior and senior sprinters competing again!

Speaking of Hortelano, he pulled up in the 200m at Stockholm.
I guess he's done for the season.

WL, wouldn't Dobson's 10.12 put him as the second or third fastest white Brit ever? I think maybe only Allan Wells and Richard Kilty have run faster times. Maybe Pickering as well? Not bad for a 20 year old.

Yes but the wind was just a little too strong. The wind was 2.5mph and the max allowed in athletics for the time to count as wind legal is 2.0 Either way the kid is very talented and has a bright future. They have 4 or 5 young british sprinters that
have nice potential. Time will tell but it's too bad this summer has seen most of them barely race at all due to covid. Maybe we can see a few personal bests by some of these guys in the last month of the outdoor season.

Oh yeah, dang I didn't notice the wind. Well, still not bad. His fastest time last year was 10.45 so he's made good progress for sure.

His time adjusted for the wind would still be in the high 10.20's range and it was only his 2nd 100 meter race of the year. It's been a strange year for sports and athletics is the same. Most guys are slower this year with
no major championship to train for and all of the covid craziness. We can only hope 2021 sees the world get back to normal.

Charlie Dobson has been flagged for some time .....great young athlete ...now he is getting some serious coaching .....once his development continues as it should ....Dobson has much quicker leg turnover and is already a better athlete than that of a hortelano ......and already has a better 100 pb , If any thing I would compare him to the Bahamian Gardner ....and that’s how much potential he has ....................any body know what teeters and devin Quinn have been up to ...

not at all. You really meant Hortelano?
How does one single wind aided 10.12 (2.5W) compare with Hortelano's 10.06 (1.0W) and 20.04 (0.8W) and 44.69 personal bests?

Dobson is much further along the line than hortelano and his .....just making a point ..I have only respect for hortelano .....but like said Dobson can’t be compared to hortelano in styles ......Dobson’s leg turnover is faster and he reminds me of the Bahamian gardiner ...............and his upside is massive at his age ......

not need to feel piqued. If I feel a need to disagree I'll do it openly without fear or favour.
There IS a need to put down stats because people don't know them off the top of their heads - this way they can make up their own minds.

Just stating the bleedin' obvious: Firstly, Dobson DOESN'T already have a better PB, does he?
And next, Dobson being "much farther along at his age" means little judging by what I've witnessed in past sprinters.
Dobson may possibly turn out to be moderate at best (leg speed is far from everything needed).
Those 100/200/400 times of Hortelano are down in the books forever and undeniable and make your claims that "Dobson is the better athlete" sound lame to me.
Too bad injury lost him 2 years from 25 to 27 when sprinters really hit their straps

Respond again if you will but this is the last I'll say on the matter! No point in relentless tit for tat
