He has to stick with it, run some meets this summer. Don't be like Teeters and get away from it. I hope he can get into the Tracktown Summer Series.

I agree although it's been a long indoor and outdoor season for him already. If he took the rest of the summer off I would understand and prepare for next year. I think if he does compete he will probably
limit his races as his body has to be very tired. You can only stay in peak condition for so long without injury inless your doing something illegal which I know he is not. He is clean & natural. The kid has all the tools to be successful. I would bet on him becoming a pro!

On a side note back to european track. I've been watching this teenager very closely and he continues to impress. Henrik Larsson is a 19 year old swedish sprinter who I've nicknamed the "Blonde Bullet"!

Yesterday he improved his national record personal best to 10.20 wind legal. That is really flying for any teenager.Sweden doesn't have much history in the sprints in the last few decades. The only notable sprinter I can think of off the top of my head is Johan Wissman and this kid is already better at such a young age. He can't even drink yet if he lived in America! Keep a very close eye on this kid. He looks like Captain America and will be very famous if he continues to get faster and faster which I believe he will. Have a look at his bio.

I hear ya white lightning ......great series by Quinn though .....thought he would have to go at least low 10s again .....as said ncaas are at world elite level ....so Quinn isnot far off ......I have no doubt in a once off race that quoin will go into the 9s ....also have to say it's a great example for other white athletes in the states who now have more than a few examples to follow ....once a gain props to Devon Quinn .....and no doubt he will receive invite to race race this summer ....

I brought up Larsson and we talked about Schulte recently as young guys stepping up their sprinting game in Europe. Another one I've watched since he was 14 is Oliver Bromby. The kid just has
that look about him. Always has! He recently ran a wind legal 10.22 for a new p.b. Bromby is barely 21 and he did this in England which is known for slow times with the weather. Very exctied to see
how fast he can run this summer. I hope he goes way above and beyone what Pickering did and haa a track path similar to Adam Gemeli. Good luck to Oliver Bromby this summer!

Sweden did have two top end sprinters during the 90s .....Patrik lovgren 60 meter specialist and world indoor finalist 1997.....and Peter karlsson a windy 9.98 in I think 1998 .......note top sprint coach hakan blomqvuist is Swedish and has coached the likes of Richard kilty and Greg Rutherford ....and remember the women's 60 meter hurdles indoor record is held by a swede .....Sweden does have some talent but competes massively with soccer ( both men / women ) and ice hockey ........I also think the Brit dominic ashwell has a serious future over 60/100 .....had been basically self coached up to last year ....and is British indoor 60 meter champ this year ....,several ex Brit pros have predicted a rosy future for this kid ....

not to be overlooked in our focus on the men’s side of the NCAA Championships should be the performance of Payton Chadwick (formerly Stumbaugh) for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

one of (if not) the best all-around sprinters in the world, Chadwick finaled in the 100-hurdles, she helped Arkansas take third in the 4x100, and took the baton in sixth place before demolishing the field and handing it off in second place in the 4x400.

her efforts helped win Arkansas the overall Team National Championship (the Razorbacks 45th overall national track title, counting indoor, outdoor, and cross country). she did all this, even though she DQed (false start) in possibly her best outdoor event, the 200. she’s an amazing talent and doesn’t get nearly enough recognition.

and to think, Arkansas originally only recruited her as a pole vaulter.

This guy is really an interesting story. When I was a kid, I saw a meet on TV, I don't remember the details, but it had a black power vibe. It was the Martin Luther King
Games, or Martin Luther King stadium or something. When they ran the 100 meters, it was the typical all black field you would see in the 70s except for this pale white haired guy (almost looked like an Albino) from Sweden who proceeded to scorch the brothers. I remember the announcers being almost speechless. One of them said something like, "he is the first white man to win this meet in over 20 years, if you're interested in that type of thing." It really impacted me as a kid, gave me hope. I think it was Garpenborg.

Harry Christer Garpenborg
(born 12 May 1952) is a Swedish former sprinter who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics.[1] 1974 Chris Garpenborg tied the 60-yard world record at 5.9, beating Steve Williams in the Sunkist Invitational in Los Angeles. 1974 Chris Garpenborg won the Dallas Invitational 100 yard dash in 9.30, beating Don Quarrie. The handtimes showed 2 watches of 9.0, which would have equaled Ivory Crocket's world record. 1974 He won the Penn Relays 100 yard dash in the time of 9.2. 1976 Chris won the Las Vegas Invitational 100 meters in the time of 9.84, beating Clancy Edwards. The time was, however, disputed since the windguage was not functioning properly. It is, however, the fastest time ever recorded by a Caucasian. 1976 AAU American champion 100 meters. 1976 Chris competed in the Montreal Olympics injured with a bad back. 1977 silver in 60 meters San Sebastian Spain European Championship beaten by Valeriy Borsov by 1 hundreds of a second. Many that witnessed the race felt Chris was the victor including Borsov. 1977 European cup victories in the 100 and 200 meters. In 1977 Chris had a serious motorcycle accident. 1980 New South Wales Champion 100 meters. In 1980 preparing for the Moscow Olympics he was diagnosed with mercury poisoning believed to be caused by his amalgam fillings. He came back from this ordeal to become Swedish Champion in the 100 meters once more before retiring from the sport.

I think the meet you are remembering was the 1976 AAU meet, which was kind of like the national championships. I also remember the announcer saying that he was the first white man to win the meet in xx years, "if you're interested in that kind of thing." I'm pretty sure it was Keith Jackson who made that remark. I wonder if there is a video of the race? I'll look around.

Karsten Warholm hit a 47.33 in the 400 mh today in under not the greatest conditions in Oslo. He now has the 2nd fastest time in the world this year.

Dafne Schippers won a 200 race as well. She is getting faster each time out and this is coming off an injury a while back. I think she will be fine for the world champs in the fall.

Tortu beginning to round into shape ...looked sluggish over the first 10/15 ....has to really focus on first 20 meters ...it will come though ...... Also surely with a name like Quinn ....devin could declare for Ireland ....he has to have Irish roots .....compete in the Europeans and worlds for an easier option ....

Marvin Schulte ran a slightly windy 10.12 (2.1) wind in the German Under 23 Champs today. He beat a stacked field. Kevin Kranz came in 2nd in a time of 10.22.

Marvin Schulte has some real talent ......and Kranz I think can become something special ....I think he needs to leave Germany or invest in a pro coach ....Kranz is still training with his club ( nice of him and loyal ...but ? ) ......he has some serious talent but lacks confidence at international level ....a good fix for him would be daphne schippers group ...right across the border but different culturally ....usual with the top german sprinters ...they need to move out and on .....but they are well financed by Deutsche leichtathletik and their sponsors ..,.germans are too comfortable in their own backyard ..off to Claremont Florida in April for a couple of weeks and then back to Germany ...makes no sense ....their coaches are obsessed with a relay medal ......what message does it send to the athletes ....? .....doubts put in the minds ......Germans have gone nowhere in a while .....when one thinks how much the likes of a Richard kilty has had to put up with from uk athletics ,,and the likes of Julian reus is minded by his federation ....if some of these german athletes had to put up with some real hardships ....

GG, I tend to agree with most of your observations in regards to white German sprinters. It still blows my mind that they have so many amazing white female sprinters yet they are slowly infiltrating their ranks with Blacks. Keep the whiteys under wraps yet bring in affletes to slowly replace them. Watching the rest of the Western European countries go dark is sickening. I am quite sure Germany has an other sub 11.20 female sprinter they could replace Pinto(slow) with and have a fully white 4x100m relay team.

Absolutely 100 % correct sprintstar.... Germany has to be careful not too darken its athletic ranks .....for a country who produced armin hary ............ I reckon the German women are mentally tougher and take on athletes abroad in different meets and are relatively successful .....(who will ever forget Katrina Krabbe ) ...what an athlete .....any way .....also listening To interviews with male German sprinters they make excuses for average performances and they look for continual fair play re doping etc ...but we know that ain't gonna happen ................the German throwers are much more dynamic brash bunch ....and are successful ................what makes me angry is that they have no 400 meter talent ....Thomas schoenlebe must surely be incensed by this ....ex ddr athlete were obviously never pampered and ............... Besides doping ( the DDR had notoriously bad quality peds for track athletes ,,,,no money ............and unlike everybody else on the planet, USA track athletes of the 80s etc ........who could pay 1000 dollars for a vial of high quality stenanozol or clenbutorol ) ....they worked hard .....frank emmelmann , steffan bringmann and a host of other East German sprinters .....of the 80s ...eugen Ray an absolute powerhouse who died in an accident .......there is talent in Germany but who wants to go the extra mile ..........Tobias unger didn't .....Julian reus doesn't ..........like said , Kranz has real talent , if he can get a pro coach ( maybe some should talk to armin hary ...whose trying regime meant pain and had work ) and take his talent regularly outside Germany .........

For me 200 specialist Robert hering had real ability but , once again no real coaching and from what was said the German athletic federation weren't fond of him ,,,,comes from Leipzig ..ex ddr country and right wing ...,,....German athletics politics money still looked after by the " open minded west German fraternity " .....reality in Germany for athletes is don't come from the old part of east Germany .....or base yourself in the old west and keep your political opinions to yourself ....
