Emile has been selected to represent South Africa at the all Africa Games at the end of August.

Emile ran against John Teeters in Ireland last year. Posted the whole video. The 100m starts at minute 17.

Hold onto your hats guys . . . . Devin Quinn ran a wind legal 10.01 at the semis of the NCAAs, and qualified for the final!
WOW!!
The final is on Friday. We may have our first white American (legal) sub-10.

Devin's time was about as close to 10 flat as you can get - 10.001. It was rounded up to 10.01.
Devin QUINN SR Illinois 10.01 (10.001) Q +1.3

I wonder if they would have rounded down to 10.00 if he were the right skin colour? Anyways great run by Quinn

Great stuff by Quinn ....still go with my earlier thoughts that if he goes low 10s again in the final ...he will medal ...for me that's the most important at present ....major champs like the ncaas are pressure filled and to medal means , your right up there nationally ( internationally) at any level including usatf S .....Quinn has stepped up ...because he has attitude ,,like a kilty ....or a like lemaitre had ......and the confidence a fully fit quliyev has .......be outwardly confident ....call yourself white lightning and don't cowdown to the dwfs .....there is no doubt that Quinn has the ability to go into the 9s ....but first medals ....,regardless of times ...medals make those around him take notice , and see him as a real competitor who can perform when the pressure is on . .....sub 10 will come .....hope he goes on to compete at the usatf S ....no pressure no expectation ......

Great to see how Quinn has crept up on so many ..........and on another note I hope the media begin leave boling alone ........Quinn reminds me of Utah sprinter Parker bluth a couple of years ago ...bluth had the ability but not the confidence or the backing of a Wiley coach who was colorblind ....

Note the ever underrated 200 meter specialist and Michael Johnson beater ,,,, Kevin little was the last white dude to medal outdoors at shorter sprints ....that goes back a while ....

lost in the excitement of Devin Quinn’s 10.01 was Kristoffer Hari’s (very slightly windy) 10.08. while Hari fell just short of qualifying for the Final, he’s clearly finding the form we’ve been hoping to see from him. Hari also ran a sparkling second leg in the 4x100 relay to help Arkansas surprisingly qualify for the final. Hari took the baton in the middle of the pack but handed it off with a 3-meter lead for the Hogs, who were able to hold on for a second-place finish in their heat.

speaking of the 4x100 relay, Illinois, and their three-quarters-cracker team, missed out on the Final by one-thousandth of a second, finishing as the fastest team to be left out. not bad for a bunch of guys who don’t have any speed.

Incredible news about Quinn and Hari. I expected Devin Quinn to get faster but not this fast this soon. He is having the season of his life over 100 & 200 meters! I agree 100% with greyghost about
Devin Quinns confidence. He has the nickname "white lightning" on his twitter. Nothing wrong with that and Illinois agrees calling him that in many articles. A sprinter needs to have that bit of
swag about him and supreme confidence. The biggest problem with Christophe Lemaitre other than injuries was his confidence. He is extremly shy. Hard to compete in a sport filled with such high
testostorone men and women when your introverted and shy. Boxling is similar. You need to have confidence as an athlete. Quinn has the physical and mental tools to succeed! Good luck to him in
the finals. I'm hoping he can run the same time or faster. A sub 10 and a medal would be epic. Especially a nation champs gold medal.

Hari is just starting to grow into his body. Huge things to come from him in the future!

Well, after going up with Quinn's great performance, we come back down today with a mediocre performance from Guliyev and Tortu - 20.35 and 20.36 in Rome today.
I'm really surprised as both started the season very strongly. Guliyev started with a 19.99 200m and Tortu with a windy 9.97 100m. Hmm.....hopefully they can get back on track t o fast times soon.
In the meanwhile, I'll look forward to Quinn's performance in 100m at the NCAA Finals tomorrow.
He barely missed making the 200m and 4x100m finals, but I don't mind. Now he can focus all his energies into the 100m Final.

At the same meet Quinn ran his spectacular time, Kristoffer Hari ran a 10.08 +2.6 1 (4) which with no wind would be a 10.21. Obviously not as exciting at Quinn's time, but it's good to see he is continuing to improve. He is only 21 years old and still has a lot of upside potential.

Firstly ..thanks Mielie for video .... Secondly .....interesting in Rome over 1500 ...the women's race ...where Laura Muir came 2nd ....she didn't shake any hand with the winner ,,, reason she is a competitor .......of course she respects Dibaba .....but it's not her win ........Muir has her number ....seriously why does shake the hand of those who beat them .....Allan wells never did ...neither did borzov ........fair play to Muir .....hunt them down .....

Here's a quick video clip which shows Quinn's 100m (and relay and 200m) head-on. It starts at 17 seconds into the short video.

If he runs a similar time at Haywood Field he is the first White American sub 10 as Haywood field has a weird weather there, if he got the max wind here he would have been sub 10 too. I suspect if he does run a sub 10 in the next few days he will get a decent pro contract from one of the big shoe companies.

blazing final! 9.86 wins it (tied for fastest in the world this year), and the three medalists went sub-10.

Devin Quinn ran a 10.12, though i’m sure he was disappointed with his finish. still, quite an impressive accomplishment as he earned first-team All American status. White Lightning, indeed.

edited to add: i should also mention the 4x100 was blazing fast, as well. all seven teams to finish ran both season-bests AND under 39 seconds. BLAZING!

Oh well, 10.12 for 7th place.

I am still pumped about his 10.01 and making the final.

Yeah I'm a little bummed but he took huge strides this season. Devin Quinn has a future in track and field as a professional if he chooses that and I think he will. Once you run
that fast (10.01 wind legal), you know you can compete with the best in the world. He will have to continue to improve to run those times more consistantly but I see no reason why
he wouldn't. Devin Quinn has had a excellent college career capping it off with Illinois All Time School Records in the 100 (10.01) and the 200 (20.31) meters! He has become a well
known name around the track community and is very popular on Twitter. The future is bright for this young talented man. Congrats on an epic season and just to make the finals is
also a high honor as he was one of the fastest 8 guys in all of college sprinting. Fantastic and I look forward to following his career very closely! :)

He has to stick with it, run some meets this summer. Don't be like Teeters and get away from it. I hope he can get into the Tracktown Summer Series.
