Congratulations to Gvozdyk and Usyk on their good wins. Not much buzz here because we all expected them to win easily.

Loma up next. Here comes a clinic. Sosa is going to be completely confused and out gunned.

Thanks for the links. Usyk looked good against the great black hope and won a unanimous decision 117-110 three times. I was surprised he couldn't knock Hunter out the last round.

The ref easily could have stopped it in the 12th but he decided to let Hunter finish the fight. Good win for Usyk but he was overshadowed by Loma and Gvozdyk's utterly dominating performances.

I find Usyk has a bit of Ali in his fighting style. He seems to toy with guys that he feels he can beat. This style can bite him in the ass against a tougher challenger.

When I talked about guys that could have been champions in an earlier era for cruiserweights, Hunter is a guy who could have been a champion in another era, but in this era he will probably never win a legitimate world belt.

I watched the fight and although I am no boxing expert I think Usyk needed to win the last 4 rounds to win the fight. He was getting hit too easily by a lesser fighter and he looked very awkward when throwing his straight left maybe he hurt it early in the fight as he was shaking it out alot. Against a better fighter he would have lost the fight using this toying style. I always feel that to play or toy with an opponent you think you can beat will get you ko'd or lose a fight you should win....

I know Charles you started writing about the Usyk v Briedis fight in the Briedis thread, but as I can't see how Briedis can win, I'd rather use your Usyk thread to write about Usyk winning. We haven't written much about this fight. Both men are strong, fit, and skilled, and Briedis has the home advantage, but Usyk's skill advantages of range and movement make him the certain favorite.

It's a win-win fight for whites though not for the contestants. I can't see how Breidis can win other than by blind judges or lucky punch.

Usyk UD 12.

As I said in the Briedis thread, I think Usyk will win and I hope he will win. Usyk has talked about moving to heavyweight if he wins the tourney.

Can anyone give a link to a stream of this fight or even better links to good boxing stream websites?

WBO cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk won a close 12 round majority decision on Saturday night against WBC cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis in thier semifinals fight in the World Boxing Super Series at the Riga Arena in Riga, Latvia. The scores were 115-113, 115-113 for Usyk, and 114-114.

Briedis seemed to fade after the 2nd round. Usyk came on to dominate until the later rounds. Briedis fought well in rounds 1, 6, 9 and 12.

Breidis was very good and...........................................................................................................

Usyk is not as good as he could have been. It was too close of a fight.
