Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, and Ivan Rodriquez were elected to the class of 2017 Hall of Fame today.
Bagwell, the 1991 ROY and 1994 MVP was a career .297 hitter and hit 449 HR's

Bagwell is one of my all-time favorite players, great to see him get in.

Trevor Hoffman just missed and should get in next year as one of the few closers in the Hall.

Roger Clemens received over 54% this year. He may eventually make it, much like Raines did in his last year of eligibility.

Looks like the steroid era guys are getting more votes and moving up the list. Expect Bonds and Clemens to get in soon. Rodriguez started with the notorious steroid fueled Texas Rangers under the clueless George Bush way back when. There were many credible rumors around Rodriguez.

Another year that Braves legend Dale Murphy is ripped off. His credentials (2x MVP, 7x All Star, 5x GG, 4x Silver Slugger, 2x HR champ & 2x RBI champ) should be MORE than enough for enshrinement in Cooperstown.

I'm a huge Murphy fan like you, Dixie, and posted a number of times in the past about the indefensible annual snubs he received. But his eligibility ran out in 2013, so the only way he can be enshrined now is the through the Veterans Committee.

Duly noted & agreed. He should have been enshrined years ago.

I'm happy that guys without the eye popping life time stats are getting in and guys with numbers like Al Kaline or Billy Williams will be become serious candidates again. This pretty much means that Chipper Jones is a lock.

It seems like the voters are using common sense and realize that Clemens and Bonds would be hall of fame members with or without PED's but guys a level below them in skills but with crazy stats like Sosa will probably never be. I wonder if Raphy and Big Mac will now have a shot with the veterans committee?

Wow, I always just assumed Dale Murphy was already in the hall. Really happy for Bagwell though, guy was always fun to watch. I feared he'd get lumped in with the steroid era and quietly blackballed.
