2016-2017 season

One player who is flying very much under the national radar, mostly because the team around him is absolute garbage, is Georgia Tech junior center Ben Lammers. The 6'10 junior has really broken out in his junior season, and has appeared to have really developed himself into an elite athlete. He's currently 2nd on the Yellow Jackets in scoring at 16 PPG, and also first on the team in rebounds at 11 per game. The guy averages a double double!! Lammers is also an elite shot blocker, sending back nearly 5 shots per game. That is so good in fact, it's good enough for Lammers to lead the country in blocked shots per game! Yet, I didn't know this kid existed until I was checking box scores earlier today. I might have to catch a Tech game to watch him play.

For those who are wishing to watch some college hoops tonight, there a few games on that you may want to check out.

Princeton and their 4 white starters will take on a Cal team that plays just two whites on Fox Sports 1 tonight at 7 Eastern.

I don't know anybody who actually has this channel, but if you have CBS Sports Network, you'll be able to watch Marquette and their compliment of white athletes take on Fresno State at 7:30 Eastern.

Notre Dame will be taking on the highly underrated Jon Konchar and IPFW tonight at 9 PM Eastern on ESPNU.

At 9:30 on ESPN, Duke will be taking on Florida. If you haven't watched Duke for some reason yet this year, I highly recommend you turn in. Kennard has been an absolute monster lately, including scoring 35 points in the team's win over Maine on Sunday.

Checking out this Duke/Florida game. True to form the announcers are hyping up the Blue Devils freshman phenoms who are currently injured and not even playing. I'll cheer for Allen and Kennard but as the year goes on I feel my interest in this team will wane. It's obvious as day n night the freshman hype will consume the 2nd half of the campaign Into the tournament.

Also Michigan who gives minutes to Duncan Robinson, Mo Wagner (big talented German) and Mark Donnal are on bspn2. The are going up against Shaka's zulus and are up early. I hope they hand the black racist another loss.

And beat Shaka they did!! It looks like Michigan held on 53-50, with Wagner being the leading scorer with 15 points, and Robinson getting 12.

Kennard had another huge game last night, leading the Blue Devils with 29 points in Duke's win over Florida. Out of the freshman, only Tatum is actually playing well. Bolden (that NBA-ready lottery pick) managed to accrue two fouls and nothing else in two minutes of game time. Such potential!! I'm sure NBA teams are salivating over that stat line. I'll be cheering for them as long as Kennard/Allen remain two of the top scoring options. Giles has had a lot of knee troubles, and he honestly may not even play that much at Duke. Bolden, you don't know. With Coach K's tight rotation at the moment, he may not be as ready as people think. Weird, I was told endless times by BSPN he's a sure lottery pick!

I mentioned him in passing, but I think it's time give a more thorough analysis. Jock Landale actually supplanted fellow Aussie Dane Pineau in the starting lineup this year, and it's done wonders for the #12 and currently undefeated Gaels. Landale is mostly a below the rim big man, but he's one of the best in college basketball. As CS noted, he's leading the Gaels in scoring and averaging nearly 20 PPG to go with 9 rebounds per game. He's a master at using the glass while on offense, and protects the paint very well on defense. St. Mary's is a VERY fun team to watch, with excellent ball movement, and a variety of good players who can all score. The Gaels are also very unselfish, which makes them hard to beat on most nights, seeing as any one of the five on the floor can score.

While most DWFs think team's like St. Mary's is boring, simply because there's no hero ball, turnovers, "thunder dunks," etc. But I disagree; teams like St. Mary's make watching basketball fun. Hero ball can absolutely ruin a team's game more often than not. You want an example? Last night, #16 Butler lost to Indiana State. There are a few reasons why. Bad defense in the last 6 minutes or so was one. But why was Butler in such a position against an average midmajor school? Their "best player" Kelan Martin, went a sparkling 4/15 from the floor. He also was part of that lack of defensive effort I mentioned earlier. Even Butler fans were saying he shouldn't have been on the floor in the last parts of the game. Why? Because ball movement (a Butler staple for most of the last decade, and something that had gotten them off to an 8-0 start this year) was over after Martin received the ball. He'd either throw up a trash jumper from 20 feet, or drive the lane, not kick it out, and turn it over. These possessions were absolutely killer for Butler; it stopped them from breaking the game open when they retook the lead, and allowed Indiana State to hang around; the Sycamores eventually won on hot shooting from their lone white starter, Matt Van Sycoc, and of course, Kelan Martin committing an atrociously bad foul in the circumstances to send ISU to the free throw line for the winning shots. Tyler Lewis and Andrew Chrabascz were Butler's leading scorers, finishing with 15 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds, and 18 points and 7 rebounds, respectively.

That last post made me laugh. The old black ball hog makes for an ugly offense. But a lot of announcers are entranced by that kind of thing as they envision the lad( Kobie Bryant style) in the NBA making his mark. But not all announcers are jerks.Much like the NBA's Hubie Brown and the NFL's Jon Gruden, ESPN old time color guy Bill Raftery is a delight. He is not afraid of throwing out athletic words when it comes to white basketball players. He should be the head color guy not monotone snooze fest caste whore Jay Bilas.

I should mention, if there is a legitimately talented guy taking over the offense (Bird, Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Hansbrough at UNC, Jimmer at BYU, Alec Peters this year), then it is pretty fun to watch those guys. What I'm speaking of, are the various black ball hogs who think they are these guys, when it's clear they are not. Sure, they may have a good game every once in a while, but going 4/15 from the field and wasting possessions doesn't help the team at all.

I'd say Grayson Allen is pretty healthy after today! He is such a great athlete, and is always impressive!! He set a career high with 33 points on another great dunk! Kennard is the Blue Devil's second leading scorer with 16! What freshman?? Allen and Kennard are definitely Duke's best players right now, and it makes the Blue Devils a must-watch! They just finished destroying UNLV.

UCLA should handle Michigan at home, but I'll be paying attention to the battle in the post between Bruins freshman TJ Leaf and Wolverines sophomore Moritz Wagner. Wagner has been playing great ball on both ends of the floor and might be able to stymie Leaf if he can stay away from silly fouls. I think both big men have a future in the NBA: this game will give some insight as to which player is closer.

Even with some of our guys still to play, it's already been a VERY successful day of college hoops.

Even though Notre Dame couldn't quite pick off No. 1 Villanova on the road, their back court of Matt Farrell and Steve Vasturia was very impressive. The Irish are a very fun team to watch. Farrell has a lot of confidence and moxy in his game - I love it!! He's not afraid to shoot or make plays. Some of our guys need to step up and shoot more often instead of being too unselfish, and Farrell gets that. Farrell and Vasturia finished with 18 points apiece today, with Farrell chipping in 6 assists. If Notre Dame would've gotten anything out of VJ Beachem (a horrid 2/11 from the field...) they would've won.

Butler knocked off all-black (when has Cronin ever played a white guy?) Cincinnati today by 10 in Indy. The Bulldogs played a LOT better today, and it was a true team effort as they flustered the "more athletic" Bearcats. Andrew Chrabascz had 12 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds in the victory. Tyler Lewis had 9 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds as well.

Maryland's freshman phenom Kevin Huerter had a good game today as Maryland cruised by St. Peter's. He was second on the team in scoring with 14 points and 4 boards. Michel Cekovsky (who's been starting of late for the Terps) had another efficient outing - stuffing the stat sheet with 8 points, 3 assists, 3 boards, and 2 blocks.

Purdue gobbled down a cupcake today, and Dakota Mathias was the star of the game for the Boilermakers. Mathias stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. Isaac Haas had another good game with 14 points, 7 boards, and 3 blocks.

Wisconsin's white contingent all had nice games as the Badger's knocked off Marquette 93-84. Koenig led the Badgers with 18 points and 6 assists, while Ethan Happ and Zak Showalter each had 11, with Happ grabbing 5 boards. Katin Reinhardt and Andrew Rowsey had 16 and 15 respectively, for the Golden Eagles.

Northeastern's Alex Murphy (the former Florida Gator and Duke player) had 21 points and 9 boards today; it looks like he's finally getting to play, and be the star; good for him.

Xavier's JP Macura had a game-high 18 points in the Musketeer's win over Utah.

BYU and their trio of white stars handled a good albeit dark Colorado team. Emery was effective from 3 and slicing through CU defense! Mika was dominant down low and Haws is silky smooth in everything he does.

It's great to see BYU win this one! They're down to just the Lone Peak trio in terms of white starters, as Kyle Davis is dealing with a bad knee issue. However, they'll have four on the floor for well over half the game. Plus, their three Alpha dogs are Mika, Emery, and Haws. BYU has Illinois left as a tough team on the non-conference slate, so hopefully, they can knock off the Illini. They'll likely need to knock off Gonzaga and St. Mary's as well, but I think they've got the firepower to do that. The rest of the WCC besides the Top 3 looks to be comically bad this year, so the Cougars can't afford to lose another 2-3 conference games to non Gonzaga or St. Mary's teams.

UCLA looks like it might be our best chance for a white-friendly team to win the title this year. They rolled up 102 points on Michigan (who previously hadn't given up more than 75 this year). The trio of Leaf, Alford, and Welsh are usually on the floor for most of the game, with Goloman backing up Welsh and Leaf. At this point, they're our best high-profile team since Wisconsin a couple of years ago. I'd place Duke in this category as well; Kennard and Allen are their two best players, and a Duke win would be very beneficial for us.

There wasn't very many games in college hoops this week, with many schools having their finals for the semester. However, for the teams that did play, our guys did a pretty good job.

Tuesday

Hofstra's Rokas Gustys had 11 points and 18 rebounds in the Pride's easy win over Stony Brook.

Moritz Wagner and Duncan Robinson had good games for Michigan in their devouring of a cupcake, with Wagner getting a team high 18 points and 7 boards, and Robinson scoring 12 points.

Eastern Washington's Bogdan Bliznyuk had 34 points in the Eagle's OT win against Morehead State.

Wednesday

Oklahoma State's pair of freshman guards, Lindy Waters III and Thomas Dziagwa had 13 and 14 points in their win against a cupcake.

Ethan Happ had 14 points, 10 boards, and 6 assists as Wisconsin held off a feisty Green Bay team.

Jock Landale had 15 points and 13 rebounds as St. Mary's crushed Western Kentucky 73-51. Emmett Naar had 14 points and 6 assists as well.

Lauri Markkanen and Dusan Ristic each had 11 points, with Markkanen grabbing 8 boards and Ristic 6 in Arizona's victory over Grand Canyon.

UCLA rolled through a cupcake Wednesday night. TJ Leaf led the way with 25 points, 10 boards, and 8 assists, Alford had 15 points, and Gyorgy Goloman had 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks filling in for Thomas Welsh.

Thursday

Maverick Rowan returned from his concussion and Omer Yurtseven made his NC State debut in the Wolfpack's blowout victory over Appalachian State. Rowan scored 13 and Yurtseven 12.


Saturday will have a LOT of good college games on. Again, there'll be a lot of our guys playing if you'd like to tune in. All times are eastern.

Lauri Markkanen and Arizona will be playing at Noon against Texas A&M on ESPN2.

No. 21 Notre Dame and No. 15 Purdue will be playing on ESPN 2 and 2 PM.

Michigan will be playing a cupcake at 3 on the Big Ten Network.

Ohio State will be taking on UCLA at 3 PM on CBS.

No. 18 Butler has Indiana at 4 PM on the Big Ten Network

Davidson will be playing Kansas at 7 PM on ESPN2.

BYU will be playing Illinois at 9:30 PM on the Big Ten Network

On Sunday, Gonzaga will be playing Tennessee on ESPN2 at 4 PM.

Unfortunately, Notre Dame couldn't hold on in the second half and ended up losing. Cline made some big shots down the stretch for Purdue in the 2nd half.

UCLA is so much fun to watch!! They've got some talented white guys!! They're on CBS if you'd like to watch. Alford and Leaf are in double figures, and Goloman is doing nicely filling in for Thomas Welsh, who's out at the moment with an injury. The Bruins are currently up by 10 on the Buckeyes.

U of A gets the win again between good games from the twin towers. There are slowly rounding into form.

UCLA is as good as any team in the country. Can't ever count Duke out. They are looking great so far.

That's great to her on Markkanen and Ristic! I saw they were the top two scorers on the team. It's nice that they knocked off an all-black team in A&M as well.

No. 18 Butler knocks off nearly all-black No. 9 Indiana as well today!! The Bulldogs were tenacious, holding off several late Hoosier rallies in the 83-78 victory. Andrew Chrabascz had 14 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds, while Tyler Lewis had 6 points and 6 assists, with NO turnovers! The Bulldogs are a dangerous team this year, having knocked off Arizona, Cincinnati, and Indiana already this year.

Greyson Allen living up to his reputation as a villain again. Doesn't change my opinion of him as an athlete, but his tripping antics is adding more fuel to the fire for people to criticize.

I have seen more criticism of his tripping on BSPN than of Joe Mixon punching a white woman.
