Curtis Stevens is bragging about something he hasn't done and is unlikely to ever do! :icon_lol:

Stevens: “I am going to decapitate his ass!”

By Lou McLaughlin; photos by Emily Harney

Curtis “Kryptonite” Stevens (25-3, 18 KOs) is challenging the WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (27-0, 24 KOs) KO 24) on November 2nd at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City.

Stevens is from Brownsville, Brooklyn as was Mike Tyson. Like “Iron Mike,” Stevens has a flair for adding drama to a fight buildup. Stevens posted photos of a coffin with the initials “GGG” of his opponent on his Twitter site.

Golovkin has 24 knockouts with his 27 wins. You have tallied 18 knockouts with your 25 wins. Both of you have scored most of your knockouts during the early rounds. Do you have a game plan for dealing with his punching power?

I don’t necessarily feel that I have to be the one with a game plan to deal with power. I believe that it is the other way around. Does he have a game plan for my power? We have never seen him get really hit before. The question is how will he react when he gets hit?

Golovkin wanted the fight in New York City. He has fought once before at The Garden. You will have the home town advantage. Your thoughts on this?

At the end of the day, a fan base is good. We are in my city, my home, and around my friends. It is always good to be at home. At the end of the day, it’s just me and him and the referee. There ain’t nobody to say save him, no nobody to save me.

Some people thought you went too far with the coffins you posted on your Twitter account. What inspired this? Think it will help sell the fight?

Well, I’m my own promotion. We all know Golovkin doesn’t speak that much. I believe that I have promoted this thing very well. I want to piss him off. You know he is the most serious middleweight out there. People don’t want to fight him. I am going to decapitate his ass.

If you are successful with Golovkin, would you want title unification with Geale?

Yeah, sure, but I really want the WBC belt in a title match. If they had had their way (Golovkin’s camp) they would have had him fighting (WBC champion) Sergio Martinez. So I’ll go the same route after I’d beat Golovkin’s ass. I should go and fight Martinez for the WBC title. And after that, whoever won it-won it!

Why the nickname change from “Showtime” to “Kryptonite?”

I believe television network issues. You know Showtime and HBO, they are going through their little problems right now. My nickname is “Showtime.” I don’t think calling me “Showtime” on HBO is going to work. My promoter came up with the name “Kryptonite.” If I can’t be called “Showtime” I’d rather not be called anything at all. But they call Golovkin a Superman and Superman’s weakness is kryptonite. So this is just another aspect that fits into the fight.

Golovkin’s trainer, Abel Sanchez, has predicted the fight will end before the fifth. Do you have any predictions?

He is going to get knocked out doesn’t matter first, fifth, sixth or twelfth round. It’s plain and simple: His “0″ is going to go! And if I don’t knock him out, then I am going to rough him up something awful over twelve rounds.

Good. Makes it easier to get a good stream. What time does it start?

Adama down a third time, this time from a jab...

He's back up, he staggers back after being hit by a left hook from Golovkin, the ref stops the fight.

No arguments about the stoppage.

Can not thank you enough for the Live streams! TB Prodigy's actually worked for me! Whew...caught the action in the middle of the 1st round...glad I did not miss this fight!

GGG is very entertaining to watch! Pound-for-pound the most powerful puncher in the world! PICK your poison! Overhand right for knockdown at the end of 1st...Left-hook in the 6th...jab...YES a jab in the 7th! Like you said...no arguments stopping the fight. Credit Adama for some heart enduring the assault from Golovkin...his patience & the way he "stalks" his opponent is taken to another level!

16 STRAIGHT KO's!! 29-0...26 KO's...just what the sport of boxing needs!

Golovkin mentioned Mayweather during the interview after the fight!

Unfortunately I was working overtime today at my job and thus was unable to see the fight. Just got home now, and the results are already posted! Shucks, because I was hoping to get out of work early enough to watch the fight live, but I've missed it.

Sounds like Gennady did great as expected, he is sensational, and definitely one of the best boxers in the world today!

I'll catch the replay on youtube today or tomorrow and post my thoughts on the fight then.

As much as I would love it to happen Mayweather is too much of a pussy, hiding behind the guise of being a "clever businessman" which gets eaten up all too easy by the masses. Golovkin didn't mention Mayweather, the interviewer name dropped him and asked if he would take the fight? Golovkin jumped at it like he'd fight tomorrow.

Anyway, i'm not as merry as you guys, Gennady showed some weaknesses in tonight's fight. He was out boxed in spells and got caught flush once or twice against a C level fighter, a better operator and those shots could well be knockdowns/flash KO's.

Full respect to you and your stated opinions, but I must politely disagree.

Osumanu Adama is not a C level fighter. He is a solid, B level fighter and probably a top-20ish type guy in his weightclass. Adama had never been stopped in his 25 career fights until tonight, so that demonstrates he is quite durable and takes a good shot. He does have 3 decision losses, but he also has some wins over recognizable names like Roman Karmazin, Marcus Upshaw, and Grady Brewer. Before even turning professional, Adama had about 60 amateur fights (of which he won 55), and even competed rather successfully in the Olympics.

So, Adama is not some bum off the street who's never boxed before. He has 15 or so years boxing experience, and is well versed as both an amateur and pro. He's not A level, but he certainly has some skills and appears quite durable. I would consider him B level. He's top-20ish guy. Noticeably, he was also in great physical shape for this fight with Gennady, and the African obviously didn't come to "lay down", he came to win the fight.

Another point is that Gennady apparently has an excellent chin. He's never been down or even hurt as a pro, and reportedly in his 300+ amateur fights, he's never been dropped. That's remarkable and indicates he takes a very, very good shot and is not likely to be dropped or stopped by anyone.

My thoughts on the fight (writing this as I watch);

Round 1; 10-8 round for Gennady. Gennady really dominated this round, and he sets everything up with his jab. His jab is landing flush repeatedly on the African, and then he starts setting in clubbing right hands which are catching the African behind and to the side of his guard. Gennady stalking, jabbing, then powershotting. Knockdown off a jab-right cross. Great round from GGG.

Round 2; 10-9 round for Gennady. Closer round, but Gennady won it clearly. Gennady headhunting early in the round, landing some clubbing rights and left hooks. Adama pumps the jab with some limited success. Gennady not throwing the jab like he was in the 1st round though.

Round 3; 10-9 round for Gennady. Dominating round that Gennady won easily. Landed a lot of big shots including a flush left hook seconds into the round. Jabs, hooks, crosses. The African did well to stay upright. The African seems to be trying to "survive" at this point, pretty much running and getting on his bike to avoid exchanges.

Round 4; 10-9 round for Gennady, but this is a close round, and perhaps could be called even 10-10, definitely Adama's best round of the fight so far. I actually thought Adama was winning the round until the last 25 seconds, but in the last 25 seconds Gennady landed 3 or 4 big shots which stole the round I felt. Gennady's punches obviously have a lot more on them. Adama did manage to move, jab, and outwork Gennady for the majority of the round however (but the bigger shots were landed in the end, so I'll give it to GGG, could be even though).

Round 5; 10-9 round for Adama, Adama's best round of the fight. He was able to jab, move around the ring, and outwork Gennady. It's not so much that he's outboxing Gennady. He's just more active and winning the round on his activity (mainly jabs). Golovkin does land some powerful shots at the end of the round, but I feel Adama's work rate in the first 2:30 of the round won him the round.

Round 6; 10-8 round for Gennady, dominating and Gennady's powershots are starting to get to the African. Gennady is in attack mode and the African is noticeably fading, looks a bit fatigued to me and seems like he blew his load in the last round. Gennady landing a lot of power shots and winning the round easily, dropping the African on a left hook.

Round 7; 10-8 round for Gennady, dominating and it was a good call to stop the fight here. The African still shook up from the last round and is dropped seconds into the round. Gennady head hunting and stops the African with a left hook.

Overall, I was quite impressed with Gennady. He used the jab well early in the fight. Nice clubbing right hand and a precise left hook. It seems Gennady's money-punch is the left hook.

It seemed to me the African blew his load in rounds 4 and 5 trying to keep Gennady off of him. He felt Gennady's power early, and in rounds 4 and 5 tried to survive, and to do that he had to throw a lot of punches. I thought he outworked Gennady in those rounds, but in doing that, he blew his load and by round 6 and 7, Gennady was landing powershots easily.

This African guy had fast hands, and he moved well around the ring. Gennady did well to trap him, time him perfectly, land a lot of powershots and score the KO. Gennady hits a lot harder and it showed. Gennady is also a better defensive and technical fighter and that's why he can time him. In terms of speed I'd say they're about equal.

The African did manage to outwork Gennady in portions of the fight, but I wouldn't say that he outboxed Gennady and he never really landed any significant punches (1 or 2 glancing right hands and a few jabs, but not much power on any of them). Gennady's face is perfect after the fight.

Gennady's shots had a lot more on them, and the African couldn't keep GGG off him the whole fight. Blew his load in rounds 4 and 5 trying to keep Gennady off him then was KO'd in 7.

I thought Gennady looked excellent and I was impressed! Gennady totally outboxed and beat this guy up. The African had moments in rounds 4 and 5, but that's only because he was desperate, fighting in a panic mode to try and keep Gennady off him, outworking Gennady (and in doing that he fatigued himself). Not once did the African control the fight or land anything significant. Actually, Gennady methodically outboxed him and wore him down. Very similar to Gennady's past fights with Stevens or Ouma.

The short list for Gennady Golovkin’s April 26 fight in New York City is James Kirkland, Daniel Geale and Andy Lee.

I'd prefer to see him fight Geale or Kirkland.

Triple G vs Kirkland would be off the charts. It would be a high profile beat down of the highest order. Really!, Kirkland stumbling around getting hammered by sophisticated blows by GGG. Bring it. Love to see it. And put an end to this smaller Tyson BS, once and for all.

Why wasn't this fight shown in the States? Some promotional glitch or technicality? I know he comes from an off-brand country, but damn. One minute he's fighting at the Garden, the next he's in some run-down cafeteria they call a ballroom.

The African guy was a good strong fighter who had never been stopped, and GGG wobbled him numerous times (sometimes with glancing blows) along with the three knockdowns. Yeah I thought GGG looked good.
