Calzaghe reigns supreme at 168!
By Craig Watt at ringside
WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe (41-0, 31 KOs) has remained the longest reigning champion in boxing and added the IBF title in the process with a very impressive unanimous decision over Jeff Lacy (20-1, 17 KOs) on Saturday night at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England. The quicker Calzaghe had a strong first round landing numerous hard shots, while Lacy landed a few good shots himself. Lacy came out for round two with a bloody nose. Calzaghe continued to connect in round two while dodging Lacy's big bombs. Calzaghe continued to be very accurate in round three while Lacy hit mostly air. Lacy was cut over both the left and right eyes in round four as Calzaghe continued to put on a boxing and punching clinic. Lacy can out strong in round five, but Calzaghe continued to get off first and tattoo Lacy. By the end of the round Calzaghe wasn't even bothering to keep his hands up. Calzaghe's dominance continued in rounds six to eight and Lacy now needed a KO to win. By round nine, Calzaghe was taunting Lacy. Calzaghe was deducted a point in round eleven for holding. Lacy came out looking for the knockout in round twelve, but it was Calzaghe putting Lacy down to punctuate the greatest fight of his

What a fight he battered him from start to finsih!! Maybe he will get
the credit he deserves now in the states. Lacy fought like a bum, and
it was great to see his whining white girlfriend crying hers eyes out
when her fella took one hell of a beating

Was Lacy's girlfriend white? They showed a clip of her talking before the fight and she struck me as being Hispanic/Peurtorican.Calzaghe put on one of the all time great performances and is surely in the top three p4p.He tore Lacy apart with speed and movement. He was physically stronger on the inside and took him apart on the outside with slashing punches.I have never seen such a beat down at that level in which you have two undeafeated champions in a 50/50 fight.Lacy's face after the fight told the story. It was shreaded. He was brave beyond the call of duty. The manner of this victory should capture the publics imagination and hopefully Joe can at last attain his long overdue respect and become one of boxings superstars.

What's great about seeing a man's wife cry unless she was behaving obnoxious before the fight? Was she? I wish I had seen the fight but it was a busy sports night. What's up next for joe? I hope he fights in the states.

Guest, Yes Lacy's wife was acting like a complete ******* standing, screaming and cursing as loud as possible. You may sympathize with her now but I bet if you were the one who had to sit next to the idiot during the fight you would be pissed.

Lacy's wife was screaming and swearing throughout and getting on
everone's nerves around her, u could hear her over the crowd don't know
whether the US coverage will pick up on that! but it made Joe's
win all the more sweeter. Lacy had been mouthing off all week calling
Joe a slapper and that he didn't have no punching power, well Joe
slapped that punk silly. He's said he now wants to fight for a version
of the cruiserweight title but still wants to keep his name in the hat
for a unification shot at super middle. I've been on Fox sports and
ESPN and he hasn't been given much coverage for his win. The press in
the uk are really hyped over this win calling it the best performance
by a uk fighter in more than a decade and Marvin Hagler who visits the
UK quite a lot had said b4 the fight that Joe Calzage was in his
opinion one of the best pound for pounders in the world I just wish I'd
thrown some money on him at the bookies.

Yet another fight where the Negro makes a bold statement on how he will destroy the white boy only to have his puffy, bloody and very stupid head handed to him.Joe Calzaghe=complete fighter.

I would LOVE to see Calzaghe stretch Roy Jones black behind out in the ring

Nice, I do not know much about Boxing but it is nice for a good white boxer to show that he is the best. Congrats to Calzaghe.

Super middleweight boxer Joe Calzaghe (R) of Britain, the WBO Champion, fights against Jeff Lacy (L) of the US, the IBF Champion, during their unification fight in Manchester, England. Calzaghe gave Lacy a relentless beating on his way to a unanimous points decision win that saw him crowned the world's best super-middleweight.

Lacy's girlfriend crying is similar to when Byrd's wife cried during the Wlad-Byrd beatdown back in 2000.lol.

As far as the fight goes.I posted earlier that Joe would win on speed and skill alone and come out with a UD or a TKO(severe cuts, swelling).I was right.Lacy had no chance in this fight whatsoever. What i saw was a absolute masterful, skillful systematical destruction of a highly over hyped U.S media hype.Joe C's handspeed was ridiculous. He threw 4-5 punches for ever punch Lacy missed with.Lacy looked scared in the 4th round.Joe was taunting him throughout the fight.Joe is def Top 5 fighter in the world. Now you know why Roid Jones jr and many other refuse to fight Joe C.Congrats to Joe C. and I do respect Lacy for taking such enormous punishment.Edited by: onewarrior5

I had never seen Calzaghe fight before, and I was nervous. Maybe I shouldn't have been. This was better than I ever could've hoped for. His performance was great not just because he won, but in the way that he won. Calzaghe was fast, athletic, and dominant. He made the black fighter look very slow and utterly inept. This is exactly the kind of athlete we need more of. Every athletic white athlete is worth five or ten excellent, but unathletic, white athletes.
