Because his start is still terrible!
How many years should we wait for him to improve his start?

Christophe should train with American Football trainers as they are the best in developing short sprint speed. Some of the fastest 10-20 yard times are produced by collegiate and nfl players and believe it or not, Olympic weightlifters. It is the power training they do. 185 pound wide receivers who can bench 300 and squat 400 - 450. Top end speed- Christophe is naturally blessed with it, so he should focus on power, power power! Power with natural speed= sub 9.9 and sub 19.7

and then it will be relax he is only 23 years old, and then relax he is still under 26
a football speed trainer could help, nobody was talking about training him in the 40 yard dash, they were talking about 10 to 20 yard training. Most football players don't run sprinter fast over 60 meters not because of speed training, but because of other drills and weightlifting which increases bulk. I know for a fact a few programs focus specifically on the 10 yard dash. One of these is Nebraska. And I guarantee that Burkhead will have a very fast 10 yard split. It is only the start that LeMaitre needs to fix, but then these trainers would have to change their methods to suit someone in the blocks.

its pretty arrogant to think that someone not from France couldn't help him

and squatting 400 pounds really isn't that much, from what I have seen he already has big thighs. 300 pounds benched is not even close to double the body weight of someone 185, its closer to 1.5. I would say try to get him to bench in the 250 range, I forget what his weight is, maybe 200 to 225 if he is lighter. Personally I prefer to work with kettlebells.

i don't think that he's arrogant but in france there is a big negative attitude towards training with weights and muscular athletes

YOU SAID "its pretty arrogant to think that someone not from France couldn't help him" REALLY ?

What is arrogant it is to say that "Pierre Carraz is not a good trainer", "Pierre Carraz is too old".
What is arrogant it is to think that to progress Christophe has to go to the USA!
What is arrogant it is to say that the American trainers are the best.

That is what is THE ARROGANCE !

YOU SAID "then it will be relax he is only 23 years old, and then relax he is still :faint:under 26":faint:

The French sprinter Martial M'BANDJOCK is trained by Maurice Green, and... NOTHING ! He is not more successful than when he was trained by a French trainer.

STOP BELIEVING THAT THE AMERICANS TRAINERS ARE BETTER THAN THE OTHERS, if it was TRUE there would be many very very successful American sprinter in the 60M

LOOK french sprinter Ronald Pognon, he's not muscular and he ran 6.45 in 60M !

Christophe needs muscles but not too much, it is a good balance to be obtained

when did I say anything against his current trainer or French trainers in general? It is obvious that his current trainer isn't getting it done though. I am not just talking about America, I am talking about just people outside of France in general

Population of France = 65 million
Population of USA = 313 million
We have many great trainers with state of the art facilities. The problem here like many countries is that they focus pretty much on blacks, which makes that 313 million into 40 million, but the trainers are still there, will vast amounts of knowledge, and have been doing this for a while,

but I am not just saying "go the the USA", I am saying try someone else, and it doesn't have to be from France. There is an ENTIRE world out there. Like I said, the 10 yard dash that Nebraska (and many other universities) works on would be perfect for Christophe to learn his explosive start from. You want to know why? Whites usually outperform blacks in their initial bursts with better 10 yard dashes in the 40. It does not make sense for a White man to not have an explosive start. It is extremely rare to see a White guy who doesn't have at least an above average start, in fact in my years working in football I have seen one White kid that had great speed but a slow start.

and its not about muscles, its about STRENGTH! do you understand the difference? i can design a workout program that can get someone ripped but not much functional muscle, or I can design a program to get them great strength, but they will not look very muscular,. Its two different things. Of course I can design one that has balance, but LeMaitre doesn't need to look muscular, just needs the strength. Yes muscular guys can have strength, but its not needed and many muscular bodybuilder types are stiff and their muscles are not that functional compared to the size. There is a difference between being ripped and just being strong. Look at the strong man competitions. Many of those guys don't look ripped at all, yet they are the strongest men in the world. I am just saying add some strength, not be the strongest person in the world.

how do we know how much strength Ronald actually has? We know how much strength Christophe had in the past because of his workout routine and numbers. I know nothing of Ronald and his workouts. If you know, please share.

as far as Maurice Green, there is no evidence that the better sprinters from the past will make good trainers. Otherwise we would have a bunch of coaches with olympic medals.

Christophe is only 22 years old and you already want that he leaves? Christophe began the athletics in 15 years old, it is very late, Christophe has many thing to do and to learn before leaving France

he doesn't have to leave France, he can have a trainer work with him in France, or in his spare time go outside of France to train, there are countries outside of France all over Europe. How many guys are under 10.10 or 10.20 in France? what about even 10.30?

LeMatire and Vicaut? who else?

Yes he is 22, which is a perfectly good age to introduce him to heavy strength training.

You are implying that American football training would hinder him, yet there are two sprinters that play football that got close to 10 flat, but they are both under 5'6, Jeff Demps and Trindon Holliday. Demps got it at 9.96 but not official because of wind being +2.5, Holliday did a legal 10.01. Jamaal Charles who didn't train as heavily as the former two got 10.23 in college. All of them timed in the 6.5 range as far as the 60 meter.

Christophe finished 3 with a very bad time of 6.68!!! I dont know why you guy's all time search excuses for lemaitre but the fact is he regress!!! He can't go under 6.6 even more he can't go somewhere close to 6.60! sprinter like rodriguez and tumi are much butter than him at 60! He is tired? He try to put muscle? C'mon guy's he isn't the only sprinter in the world who train :))) and who try to be stronger, this is bull****! This time are very bad for him and his moral.... I hope to be just on 60 and not on 100m but i dont think so!! I bet on Gemili he is a real deal,And stop to say he isn't white,i dont care if he is white he is caucasian and this is what count not to be a blonde blue eyed long hair ******!!! 60m 6,68 s. 3. , 200m 20,91 s. 1.

Christophe ran 6.68 and 20.91 today! Not bad! considering he is only 22, was training hard, had the flu, his socks were on backwards, his shoelaces un-tied, a draft in the arena gave him the chills to warmup, his underwear was on to tight, and the arena was half a meter below sea level, this all contributed into his freshman collegiate level time!...........but no need to worry, Christophe has access to a coach and trainer who has experience coaching World class 100-200 meter sprinters who have medaled and broken world records....wait, that may be Jimmy Vicaut's coach? What do I know, I am just a ignorant, dumb American who knows nothing about training...Your turn RCSMAN.

PS: Expect Christophe's confidence to be shattered when he faces Vicaut at the French Championships, and Vicuat breaks 6.5

German trainers more specifically East German trainers were among the best in the world when the country unified. Many have gone on to helping rebuilding countries improve their national teams ie China. I don't know whats wrong with his training. From what I have seen of the videos his legs look very strong now but his upper body still looks like a high school freshman. 20.9X indoors is a decent first race, but 6.6X after a few races isn't cutting it unless he is using the 100 as speed work for concentrating on the deuce.

Short Article about Christophe

There is a short article before Val de Reuil at:

http://www.iaaf.org/news/news/ahoure-perez-and-craddock-make-their-way-to-v

by P.J.Vazel

here it is:
"Lower expectations of Lemaitre

Christophe Lemaitre will run both 60m and 200m in Val de Reuil but indicated before the start of the winter that he is concentrating on an endurance-based build up towards the outdoor season."

I think that's the key and his injury.
But nevertheless ... he has to improve his start.

Video Val de reuil

Here is the video of Val de Reuil

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xx...ueil-2013-60m-men_sport&start=98#.URtsp_Iwgbw

I say it again.... He must go higher with his hips at the "Set"-Command .. he will win 3 or 4/100 Sek.
The hips of Kim Collins are nearly so high as Christophes.

At the three first steps Christophes thighs are not high enough, you can see it at 1:29 min (following).
Look here at Usian Bolt 1:18 min (following):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By1JQFxfLMM

There is a big difference....

Val de reuil 60m: Good race of Rodgers ... very good top end speed

Well, it's been a brutal season so far, and whereas I find myself nodding (as usual) at JackNYC's thoughts, cracking up at Elispeedster's sarcastic take (above), and even agreeing with much of what Raul wrote so vitriolically (he's right: Christophe isn't the only runner in the race who's sore from training), I do take at least a little consolation from the video of his first 200 of the season. Was the time brilliant? No? But neither was it anywhere near as bad as his 60m times. And remember, he has a tough time on tight indoor turns. The promising thing is that he actually looked at ease when he crossed the finish line. As many of us recall, in 2012 Christophe consistently looked on the verge of collapse at the end of his races. He was utterly lacking in endurance. Here, at least, he dispenses with some decent runners while easing up comfortably and looking like he had more in the tank.

I'm a believer in speed endurance. I believe in speed endurance more than heavy lifting. Look: Bolt, Blake, and Weir just opened the season with 400's. Not 60's, not 100's. 400's. That's what the best runners in the world are doing. So if Christophe is actually concentrating on endurance, then maybe this season won't be wasted after all. Anyway, it's reason for hope.

Here's the 200m race video.

I agree about the endurance, no question about it. But for any Athletic sport - a foundation of power and strength should be developed first! His coaches failed him because they did not introduce Christophe to Power training a few years back. Without a solid and strong foundation, the walls and roof will collapse. Bolt, Blake, Tyson Gay etc.. all open with 400's, you are correct; but guess what they are doing before the 400 season? They are lifting heavy, running up hills pulling sleds - they are building power, then taking that power and teaching it to fire rapidly for a long period of time. Power + speed endurance= Fast start, and high speed maintenance throughout the race. I hope these times are just his body getting used to a different training method. We shall see...

You know nothing about the athletics to speak like that!

Your comments to denigrate Christophe are pathetic, you seems as an immature child!

You never do sprint otherwise your comments would be different!

Christophe has regressed 2 years in a row now! Carraz knows nothing about training other than running around cones! You are correct, I don't know much about athletics- no Idea about javelin high jump etc...but I do know how to build power and strength and speed more so than you and carraz. You think you know it all like carraz, who has inhibited Christophes potential by not observing what everyone else does because he, like you, are thick headed and afraid to admit your failures! You sir should not question me at all. Have a good day

Fella...

There are thousands of sprinters lifting big ass heavy weights/pulling sleds etc who can't even break 11secs.

Thats because they dont have the natural speed like Lemaitre. You all dont get it...Take someone who has a high end of natural speed and train them to be stronger - they will run faster. It is very simple. Christophe runs fast on natural ability. He is not strong, does not have good technique but manages to break 10 and 20. Now imagine if he worked on his power and techinique = You will have a faster sprinter. Its amazing how some of you dont get what I am trying to say. The Average sprinter who trains with weights will run faster, but if he doesnt have that natural top end speed like Bolt, Lemaitre etc. he wont catch up to them no matter how hard he tries. it comes down to genetics. Christophe has tons of it, the problem is, his coaches are not utilizing training that will help him achieve his potential! because they are ignorant on modern training methods.

its like talking to a brick wall. The logic of saying guys that can't crack 11 that are doing strength training is like saying there are minor leaguers and fringe players in the majors who have pretty much the same routine as the top guys. Its called talent. Do you think those guys who do strength training will break 11 if they just stop doing that kind of training all together? I am positive that they would regress.

Basically there is a disagreement as to what Lemaitre needs to do to improve.
But I think we all agree that he NEEDS to improve.
Is he improving? That seems to be another disagreement.
But right now all the evidence says NO.

To get you guys ready for the dual this weekend although it will probably be pretty one sided.

3613f.jpg

You have to click on the pic to make it bigger. Sorry it didn't upload like normal.

As far as Lemaitre goes. He is behind schedule but I do believe it has more to do with what they
are saying. It's a combo of the injury that lasted for several weeks and the new endurance based
training program Caraz is implementing. Will it work? Who knows but it should help him to run multiple
sub 20's. He only ran one last year in London. He just missed one at the semi finals at the olympics.

I hope that they can still get his start issues addressed at some point. If not, his 100 will suffer. For now
I am going to try to remain optomistic. Good luck to Christophe this weekend!
