It says a lot that he had to transfer from Georgia Tech. Does this move to RB mean he is off the practice squad and is now on the roster, or has he just been shifted from QB to RB on the practice squad? According to the site, he has been on the practice squad since last year.

i couldn't find anything about that move on Eagles official site, he is still listed as practice squad QB... that would be great if he got to carry the rock a little

EDIT: here's what i found, seems like he will be 3rd string QB not a RB

"Eagles sign QB Hall from practice squad

By Jeff McLane

INQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Eagles quarterback Andy Hall was signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad today.

The Delaware alum replaces running back Brian Westbrook, who was officially placed on the injured reserve list Monday with a Lisfranc foot sprain. Head coach Andy Reid said yesterday that Westbrook's injury is not of the more severe sprains and that it won't require surgery.

It should take six to nine weeks for Westbrook to rehab and he could be healthy enough to partake in spring drills.

Hall will be the third quarterback behind Mike McMahon and Koy Detmer. McMahon suffered a hip flexor strain and a knee contusion in Sunday loss to the New York Giants and his condition and availability for Sunday's game at the St. Louis Rams won't be revealed until tomorrow.

To replace Hall on the practice squad, the Eagles signed rookie tight end Jonas Crafts. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Crafts played his college football at UTEP.

Hall was a sixth-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2004 and spent the entire season on the practice squad.

The backup quarterbacks have been filling in for Donovan McNabb, who had season-ending sports hernia surgery. McMahon has started the last four games, going 1-3, and was replaced by Detmer in the second quarter of a 42-0 loss to Seattle on Dec. 5."Edited by: backrow

Castefootballer's url doesn't work when I try it. I think what the Eagles did was sign Hall from the practice squad as a backup QB after Brian Westbrook was put on IR, not convert him to RB.

That sounds more like it. I didn't think Andy Reid would give a white guy a shot at RB. At least he has another white guy on the roster though.

To be fair, the reason Hall isn't being played at RB is because he's
not, and never has been, a running back, and the Eagles need a QB on
the roster. It's not as if he's some speed demon with running
experience that Reid is forcing to the practice squad; he's just a
quarterback, who, I can assure you from watching him at Eagles training
camp, is not very good.

Like I said, it has nothing to do with breaking rank. Andy Hall simply does not play that position and never, ever has.

You can make that argument about a lot of people who ended up playing different positions though.

You're really stretching to create an argument.

Andy Hall never played running back, therefore it makes perfect sense
that Reid wouldn't suddenly activate him as a RB for the Eagles,
especially since, like I said, he's not even a particularly mobile
QB.

I understand that, but if you generalize this to everyone, it doesn't always hold true.

This whole thread is based on a mistaken interpretation of a roster move, but madmax you're wrong when you state that Hall isn't "a particularly mobile QB." He rushed for over 1,500 yards and 15 TDs at Delaware and is described by NFL.com as a "well-built athlete with outstanding scrambling ability, drawing comparisons to former Delaware standout Rich Gannon (Oakland), for his quick feet and ability to throw on the run." No one is going to turn him into a tailback in the NFL, but he is a very good runner.
