Buehler Beats DeAngelo Smith In A Race

<div>
</div><div>And Buehler didn't just beat him - he smoked him. Had him by at least three yards, holding out his arms the last few strides because he knew he had beaten him.

"There was a lot of trash-talking in the locker room," Buehler said. "DeAngelo's pretty confident in his speed. I knew I was fast, so I decided to challenge him.

"I just got in the locker room today and I felt like racing somebody. All these guys talk about how fast they are, and I just wanted to compete."

Buehler on Tuesday showed a little bit of why the Cowboys drafted him in the fifth round, uncanny athleticism for a kicker. He ran a 4.62 in the 40-yard dash back in April, and had 25 reps on the 225-pound bench press.

As he crossed the finish line Buehler threw off his jersey and circled around the end zone for a half victory lap, his teammates either raising their eyebrows mesmerized, or doubling over in laughter.

Smith couldn't help but smile as he tried to walk off the field, knowing he had to face the music from a herd of media, equally surprised by what they had seen.

"I was talking trash," Smith said. "He beat me fair and square."</span></div>

that is awesome!

i suspect that this kind of thing happens a LOT more often than the media reports ...

when Kris Brown, now the kicker for the Houston Texans, was on the Steelers, coach Cowher admitted that he was probably the fastest guy on the team. Hunter Smith, who used to be the punter for the Indianapolis Colts was one of the three fastest guys on the team according to an article a year or two ago, along with Bob Sanders and Matt Giordano.

furthermore, i know for a fact that Tom Crowder,a former free agent/practice squad member of the Dallas Cowboys under Bill Parcells, routinely outran all the black guys on the team. Parcells would even taunt the black players about it.

of course, he ended up cutting Crowder for ... you guessed it ... not being explosive enough.

The Cowboys specifically drafted this guy because of his athleticism and long kickoffs. They already have a outstanding field goal kicker in Nick Folk.

Thats awesome haha. What a waste of athleticism for this guy to be a kicker. They should try to get him to be safety or wide reciever, at least a backup until hes polished. How good of a kicker is this guy by the way?

The punter Brian Moorman for the Bills is also a extremely fast guy, runs a 4.4 in the 40.

also, another two freaks a few years ago: Daniel Sepulveda (Steelers) and Adam Podlesh, drafted by Jacksonville, both had 4.4 times!

more trick plays, says I!

and i fully agree on Ferris (hehe), he should NOT be a kicker.
