By next week Craig will be the best white on toplists wwith a 10.12. I can see it now. A 1.7 m/s wind I predict on a 65 degree sunny day. Right now he is tied with Simeon at 10.26 on a slow track. Marcus brunson ran 10.12 this year and ran in the 10.2s with wind and lost to Craig. Just stay with Simeon out of the blocks Craig, and it's all yours!!!

Simeon Williamson, Devonish, Edgar and Harry are all going to have alot on their plate trying to juggle their flinstones right. Look at A.Powell yesterday in NY. The vitamins are great at times but will let you down if you don't have them in your system at a high enough level when racing. Guys constantly get on and off the stuff you can test for. Then things like HGH are used all year long. It is so hard to catch the cheats but anyone with any knowledge of athletics can have a basic idea of what is going on. Let them win a few now and let Craig win in July and August when it is for all the marbles.

Craig will run a new p.b. and he will also make the team. It will take an injury to stop him. Too hungry and too talented. Remember in Berlin......9.98 and that would be great!

I told you guys to keep an eye out for this local kid in England. He has some wheels on him. Richard Kilty is going to be know very good if he continues to progress as he has the last couple of years. Even from an outside lane, he ran a new p.b. in the deuce of 20.80! Keep an eye on this young lad from England. Here is the video link.

Throw in Arnaldo Abrantes from Portugal who is young and has run a 10.28W this year. Though he is more of a 200 meter runner.

Darius Kuc ran a 10.32 wind legal a couple of days ago. Nothing
special but an improvement in the right direction. This guy has
had bad luck ever since he ran that 10.17 a few years ago. He still
has great potential at his age. Hopefully he will get faster as the
summer season continues. He still should put on some size though in
my opinion.

We have so much talent in the 400 meter. Here is just the best on top lists so far. Much more to come.

44.66 Jeremy Wariner
45.07 Sean Wroe
45.34 Johnothan Borlee
45.35 John Steffenson
45.51 Kevin Borlee
45.63 Pieter Smith
45.64 Jordan Boase
45.80 David Gillick
45.84 Curt Mulcahy

Claudio Licciardello and Johan Wissman have yet to race. Wissman will run a 200 meter tomorrow. If two of these guys can medal, one obiously being Wariner, that would be awesome. We need the world record. Wariner will get it. I know he will. His 200 meter is looking better than ever. I think he can beat his PB of 20.19 in Eugene in one month because he has already ran a 20.30, and is progressing about .2 per race in the 200. He started with a 20.77, then ran a 20.57 two races later, then ran 20.30. Like clockwork, baby.

Jonathan Borlee won the NCAA 400m title!
His time was a PB 44.78.
His twin brother was 4th.

Now Borlee neds a thread. As a freshman he reminds me of Jeremy Wariner. Borlee is faster than Merritt's most recent 44.8 right now.

I am soo happy Borlee won the 400m.
Adam Steele won the NCAA 400m title in 2003. It was first time a white guy had won that event at the NCAA since the mid-60's. Then Wariner won in 2004. Now Borlee.
We are having a white renaissance in the 400m. I hope that opens some eyes. I also hope it brings more whites into this event.

Ditto. White sprinters have made their names known in the 400 meters. It
all happened within the last 5-10 years. From no white 400 meter guy to
alot of them having great success and winning titles. That is how
quickly it can happen. Now if we can only get a few Wariner types in
the 100 & 200! I know one guy who needs to step it up fast!

And Mitch Potter in 2003, Steele's teammate from the University of Minnesota, was right behind him in 3rd in something like 44.58. Steele's time was world-leading when he ran it. They were both juniors at the time, and my understanding is that they were both so busy with senior year studies the next year that they just never quite hit that form again. Potter ran a few good times professionally, but I think he is teaching school now. Steele had moved up to the 800 and moved out to Oregon, I think. The U of M 4 x 400 placed 2nd that year, with a bunch of local kids. I thought both those guys could have gone quite a bit faster as pros. Potter was an old high school wrestler, and was probably carrying more muscle than necessary for a 400m guy in his upper body. But he was also a decent 200m runner, going out hard.

And the four fastest 400 relay splits in the last Olympics were by white guys, Borlee one of them.

Yeah, I love that UofM 4 x 400m team. All white guys - 3 from Minnesota and 1 from Scandanavia. They shocked people at the NCAAs that year. Even T&F News noted that they made quite a stir at the meet as an all white team. They nearly won it - came in 2nd to Baylor, who ironically won it due to Wariner's fantastic 3rd leg.
Potter and Steele were never as good again. As a senior, Potter couldn't get back to form because he was so busy with his studies and volunteer work that he didn't have as much time to train as previously. Steele moved up to the 800m and moved out to Oregon. He really hasn't had any success at that distance.
You got to give Minnesota a lot of credit though. The 400m had been a black only event for years and years. Then a guy from Minnesota named Tom Gerding made the NCAA finals; a few years later his teammates Potter and Steele; and right after them Aaron Buzzard. 4 white guys from Minnesota have made the finals of the NCAA 400m in the past few 7 or 8 years, whereas the entire rest of county hasn't had as many. How many people live in Minnesota!?
It just goes to show that whites can perform at a high level in this event when given the chance, which obviously isn't very often.Edited by: jacknyc

With the few whites competing in the 400 the fact that a limited few dominate hundreds of black runners says a lot about how much untapped white talent is out there. If some boys from Minnesota can own at it, imagine if more whites ever took interest in track.

Just want to get my facts straight....Minnesota came in 2nd in the 4 x400m NCAA relay in both 2003 and 2004. LSU beat them in 2003. Baylor beat them in 2004 with an incredible 3rd leg from Wariner.
The 2003 team was 3 Minnesotans and a Swede.
The 2004 team was 4 Minnesotans.
Both teams were all white.

Minnesota sprinters take track world by storm

Mitch Potter took the baton from Adam Steele en route to winning the 2003 Big Ten 4X400 relay title.

Mitch Potter and Adam Steele share many things: a Minnesota upbringing, a close friendship, intense competitiveness, and world championship gold medals in a most unlikely event. The 23-year-old Gopher seniors were on the USA 4x400-meter relay team that won the title at last summer's World Track and Field Championships in Paris.

It was a stunning accomplishment. For decades, African Americans, West Africans, and runners from the Caribbean and West Indies have dominated the sprint events. Although both Steele and Potter had earned All-American honors in their freshman and sophomore seasons, their junior year "created literally a worldwide buzz," says University of Minnesota track coach Phil Lundin. "People were saying, 'What's going on?'"

Potter, who grew up in St. Michael, was named outstanding athlete of the Big Ten meet in May. Steele, of Eden Prairie, won the NCAA 400 title in June. Then Potter took gold in the 400 at the Pan-American Games in the Dominican Republic in July, beating many of the top runners in the Western Hemisphere. They also finished fifth and sixth at the U.S. championships, cementing their spot on the world team for the relay. At one point, they had the first and third fastest times in the world for 400 meters-at 44.57 and 44.58 seconds. "What makes it special is that they're Minnesota kids," Lundin says, "the kinds of kids people don't think can run like this."

Because the NCAA finals and the U.S. championships were scheduled on consecutive weekends...

Very solid time for him. However, Fabio Cerutti would have been the better sprinter to challenge Chambers. He would have probably run a new p.b. I just keep wondering why he is waiting in the wings so long. Blum has legitimate reasons with the injury, sickness and lack of shape. Why is Fabio not runnig in the 100 for Italy? Hopefully he competes somewhere next weekend.
