I'm wondering what the outlook is for the draft. Draft daddy has some good news and lots of bad news, in that their rankings of top QB's are all white, and I believe 6 out 10 top tight ends, and about half fullbacks are white, other positions outside of offensive line not very good. So, looks like another typical draft, but I'm hoping for a slight improvement.

Yeah, with linebackers the two things I'll be rooting for are that they are drafted high, and to teams with all black starting linebackers, so they can break up a coal patrol.

You're right dude, it's the year of the LB for us, add to the list clay matthews, maybe Joe Pawalek, Zac Follett, Scott McKillop, some good 3-4 prospect like Stryker Sulak, Connor Barwin, this will be a good group.

its like for a span of time teams forgot there were tons of great White linebackers. It looks like they are starting to come back. Maybe it is changing back because teams are tired of seeing black defenders making poor tackles, worse than you see in pop warner.

White athlete im not sure exactly of how many white receivers will go in this draft. I do know that Tough J posted a topic for 2010 white wr's and the sky is the limit for those guys!

Thanks. Well I assume Nate Swift is a possibility. I am not sure about Collie as I don't think he is coming out this year. I don't follow college football too closely so I am a little in the dark.

What white receivers will likely be drafted in the draft?

Yeah this year only one white WR from the 2009 class will probably get drafted. Dicky Lyons Jr. will probably go from the 5th-7th rounds if his rehab keeps going well. Nate Swift might get drafted.

Kevin Jurovich, Andy Brodell, Vinny Peretta, Eric Peterman, and small schoolers Kole Heckendorf and RB/WR Stan Zwinggi (A RB in the FCS who the NFL somehow projects as solely a WR

) "should" all be drafted, but will likely be just training camp/ mini-camp rookie free agents due to their lack of pigment.

Ross Lane from Northwestern would be a good quality undrafted FA, but probably won't get a chance b/c of his skin color combined with his lack of quality straight lined speed. Only black WRs in the NFL can be slow for the most part; unless they have out of this world production and some fan/media hype like Kerry Meier.

If Brian Hartline declares he could go as early as the early 3rd round.

I really like Heckendorf his size speed ratio SHOULD have nfl scouts drooling over him. I have noticed a lot of big white athletic freaks we have at wideout. NElson, Walter, Jones, among many more. They seem to have it all!

Yeah, Kerry Meier from Kansas was my favorite WR to watch this season. His brother is NFL TE Shad Meier. Kerry was a QB that switched to WR. He had an awesome year. During every game, the announcers constantly said that Meier would translate to H-back in the NFL. He's probably faster than Fitzgerald, Bolden, Harrison, and tons of other NFL starters.

GiovaniMarcon,

You are correct- MLB was considered to be the "QB" of the defense, and thus it was about the last position on defense to go virtually all black. Even in the late '80s, one of the greatest of all Caste disciples, Buddy Ryan, kept a sole white at MLB (Mike Reichenbach) on his coal black defense. Presumably, he felt that none of his affletes was mentally equipped to call defensive signals. That was the thought process of a lot of coaches up until about twenty years ago.

Even in the '90s, another Caste legend, Jimmy Johnson, would install Zach Thomas at MLB on his coal black Dolphin teams. Overall, linebacker was the last position on defense to go majority black. The Steelers teams of the 1970s, for instance, featured almost all black defensive linemen and defensive backs, but until the last few years of their dynasty, they started a "snow patrol" of their own at linebacker (Russell, Lambert and Ham).

It's great to see some young white linebackers making an impact in the NFL, but there is still much discrimination going on. Bobby Carpenter, for instance, has never been given a chance to play despite being a first round draft pick by the Cowboys.

There is an interesting article in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research for Nov., 2008 entitled "The NFL Combine: Does It Predict Performance in the National Football League?".

In it the authors state, "Using correlation analysis, we find no consistent statistical relationship between combine tests and professional football performance (of quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers), with the notable exception of sprint tests for running backs."

"Given the substantial gap between the skills assessed at the combine vs. the skills ACTUALLY REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPETE AT THE PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL LEVEL, the lack of relationship between the combine performancve and NFL performance is, therefore, not surprising."

The finding of no relationship between the combine tests performances and NFL success as a wide receiver is contrary to the opinions of "draft gurus" and may explain why there are so many black WRs who are not good, but given preference over white WRs (who can actually catch the ball). It can also explain why "unathletic" white QBs outperform the "superior athlete" black QBs.

Interesting. However a bad thing to consider is that if measureables aren't important then intangibles will be considered more important, like hip-swivel, quick-twitch athleticism, etc. Whites at the combine have actually been doing pretty well at the measureables, not that it matters though.

QB its the most obvious. Seeing Brady run the 40 yard dash was painful to watch and he was only 22? Yet he is a deadly passer and has decent drop back and peddle speed. If QB was a position where speed and agility was the most important skill Tony Rice clones would be all over the NFL(Al Davis lays awake at night fantasizing about the day).

Brady and Peyton Manning are two of the slowest QBs when it comes to straight line speed yet are annually among the least sacked, because they are great at sensing pressure, moving away from it and still making a throw. Michael Vick may have been the fastest QB ever in straight line speed yet was annually among the most sacked.

Yes Vick probably was the fastest quarterback ever in straight line speed. I think Crouch was faster and Jones is for sure. Too bad fast whites can't play quarterback.
