speaking of Justin Bean, his Utah State team is currently playing against undefeated Oklahoma.

at halftime, Bean has a game-high 9 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. more importantly to him, i’m sure, his team is ahead on the scoreboard.

*********

#6 Purdue overcame an 11-point second half deficit to defeat #5 Villanova today. Zach Edey led all scorers with an uber-efficient 21 (on 9-12 shooting). Furst and Stefanovich both scored in double figures, as well, though Stefanovich had a cold shooting night. Furst, conversely, didn’t miss a shot.

for Villanova, Gillespie had a solid all around game, as is his norm. he finished second on the team with both 14 points (4-10 shooting) and 4 rebounds and led them with 5 assists, though he did have 2 turnovers.

Justin Bean hauled in a new career-high 19 rebounds and a game-high 24 points in Utah State’s win over Oklahoma. this is the fourth time in five games that he’s snagged at least 13 boards. he’s also scored 16 or more in every game.

Utah State starts four White athletes, including sharp shooting senior guard Brock Miller and long and bouncy, but slender, forward Brandon Horvath. the Aggies also play several White reserves, and only play two affletes in their rotation, both of whom are very turnover prone.

for Oklahoma, their best player is senior transfer power forward Tanner Groves. in this contest, he scored a team-high 18 points while adding 7 rebounds. unfortunately, his younger brother is the only other White player the Sooners let see the court.

Badgers upset a team full of affletes in Texas A&M!

Bean sounds like the real deal!

Bean is an exceptional rebounder, and he’s very good offensively if he doesn’t have to create off his own dribble. it’ll be interesting to see how the “experts” evaluate him, because he’s missing two key components for their praise: he’s not very big (maybe 6-foot-7?), and he’s obviously not affletic.

***********

Wisconsin has been winning, but i have my doubts about their long term success this season ... their affletic point guard, simply put, is an atrocious passer. i know he’s a freshman, but he’s got as many turnovers as assists on the season, and (perhaps even worse?) he’s never had more than 2 assists in a game as a Badger. those are definitely NOT the kind of numbers i look for in a lead guard.

Bean should get a look as a SF, perhaps stretch 4 in NBA if a team is playing small ball. I could see him in Joe Ingles/Doug McDermott role. Going to do my best to watch as much Utah State as I can this season.

Badgers have a really young team and agreed on PG. I'd like a better assist/TO ratio. I guess there is a reason they were picked to finish 10th in Big Ten.

the Saint Mary’s Gaels have traditionally been very friendly toward White athletes, and this year is no different. they feature exactly SEVEN overachievers averaging double-figure minutes in their eight-man rotation and ZERO blacks. the team’s leading scorer is a New Zealander who appears to be of mixed White/Polynesian ancestry. it’s early in the season, but so far the Gaels are undefeated (5-0) with their most notable win coming over an uncertain Notre Dame squad.

tonight (7:00pm central) Saint Mary’s plays on national tv against the Oregon (gang fighting) Ducks. Oregon features an entirely black rotation (as usual). their lone loss thus far satisfyingly came against very-White BYU.

it’ll be a significant caste matchup with both teams looking to establish themselves on the national scene.

Gonzaga vs UCLA tonight also. Will be a test for Holmgren. I'll try to stay awake for the entire game. Game time is 10 eastern.

yes, sir. a re-match of last year’s national championship game, though Gonzaga’s roster especially has notably changed.

i’m especially looking forward to seeing how much progress Timme has made from that game a season ago, because UCLA manhandled him in a major way with their length and physical play. the Mustache has been feasting on cupcakes in the early going and DESTROYED Texas, so i’m guessing he feels confident.

Saint Mary’s and their gym rats held the dynamic affletes of Oregon to 15 first half points. imagine what the Gaels could do if they could play defense ...

Wisconsin knocked off all-black #12 Houston today, 65-63.

perhaps they don’t need a good point guard to win ... nice upset, Badgers!

To be fair to Oregon, they do have two freshman centers that see some limited minutes off the bench. Isaac Johnson and Nate Bittle. They might be more palatable next year if those guys grow into an important role.

Anyway, go Gaels!

perhaps in the future those two will emerge as contributors, but for now they’re not. Bittle has only taken 2 shots on the season (4 games entering tonight’s contest), and Johnson has only taken 5. both are averaging right at 6 minutes-per-game, even with the cupcake early season schedule.

unless things change significantly, i stand by my earlier assessment: Oregon features an all-black rotation. but there’s certainly no reason for me to be fired up about it either way.

Gaels are looking strong with Kuhse as the floor general. dude has come a LONG way since he was a walk-on.

Tha Zags dominated behind Timme and Holmgren. It was kind of a coming out party for Holmgren. He had 15 pts, 6 rebs, 1 steal
and 4 Blocked shots. Holmgren was all over the court. One the possesion below he blocked a shot one one end and went coast to
coast dribbling around his back and jamming it home. What an emerging superstar and he did it against the 5th ranked Bruins!

@Jimmy Chitwood is right! Holmgren doesn't need to dramatically change his body to be successful. Dude is a long and lanky and a Chase down Artist! He gradually adds weight, he'll be fine.

Good wins for Wisconsin and St Mary's! That was some pretty satisfying Basketball yesterday evening!

Was watching the Syracuse Game earlier. They played good in the first half but had an up & down second half. They lost
their second game of they year. Despite the loss these guys are gonna be a good team and I believe we will see them in March
Madness for sure. With four of our guys starting you have to love this team!

outstanding game between Saint Mary’s and Wisconsin. the Badgers win by 6, overcoming the Gaels who led for nearly the whole game. lots of impressive performances in this one by our guys on both teams, as both teams play terrific defense.

the main difference that proved the Gaels’ undoing was turnovers. Wisconsin had 8 (I think) to Saint Mary’s 16. in a game where stifling defense is the norm, having that many trips where you don’t even get a shot opportunity proved fatal.

as for Wisconsin, i guess they don’t need a point guard who contributes much of anything to win, especially with Tyler Wahl eliminating the opposition’s leading scorer. the dude is a LOCKDOWN defender.

Last night the AZ Wildcats crushed Michigan but no one here seems to watch the Pac 12 I guess. They are a very good team flying under the radar!

Also I'm happy Wahl is developing into a force for Wisconsin. He's played a lot of Basketball as a Freshman/ Sophomore and is now a seasoned vet as a True JR. It shows, A lot more confident/deliberate with his shot.

it’s interesting how “talented” Arizona is now that they’re winning under new head coach Tommy Lloyd, but they stunk enough the last few years (despite the recruiting violations) to get their old coach fired.

it seems Lloyd is finally getting the “superstar” affletes to buy into a team-first approach, and he’s getting good contributions from his young White players, as well. the future appears bright for the Wildcats.

Good win for AZ and another early season loss for Michigan.

i’m always happy to see an afflete-first/only program losing. it’s frustrating how coaches who purposely recruit only/almost exclusively black players are celebrated and encouraged as brave when there’s not a single coach in the country who similarly purposefully targets White athletes in the same way. not one.

i’m no fan of Kansas, but Christian Braun (pronounced Brown) is a heck of a player.

today in the KU loss to Dayton, Braun led the Jayhawks with 8 rebounds and 5 assists (with zero turnovers), and he also had 17 points (on 8-12 shooting) and 4 steals. he could play for my team anytime.
