I really think the decision makers (school presidents?) who are voting to “shut it down”, and are likely overwhelmingly very liberal, are really making a huge mistake. Taking the opiate away from the masses is a shortsighted reaction, that politicization of this relatively harmless virus necessitated. The liberal bourgeoisie are not going to like the reaction when the proletariat realize they don’t need or miss college football as much as they thought.

I didn't want to be that guy of "burn it all down" we here enjoy our sports, but I live my own life and will get by easily enough without TV sports. Though truth be told I am rather enjoying the racing NASCAR has put on even if I have to completely tune out literally everything but the going around in circles part of the whole circus. If I could wave a magic wand I would trade the NFL season for CFB anyway, something has changed within the last few years but even ESPN is watchable coverage for CFB. I can even listen to Herbstreet or Finebaum of all people, but the talking head shows for the NFL are intolerable dreck. Anyway the site is going away and I'm moving on, maybe now me and Boomerwife can pull the cable so ESPN can lose another 9 dollars a month in revenue.

Not posted to inspire the usual useless conservative outrage or sputtering anti-jewishness. But statements like this are golden for us he is a walking and talking self discredit and disqualify machine since it is obvious that he has racial and ethnic antagonisms and if he wants to justify his opinions by doubling down on those antagonisms fine by me.

Fearing a beheading Big Ten boss Kevin Warren and the Big Ten are now mulling a Thanksgiving weekend opening. There was also talk about playing in several indoor venues due to weather concerns. This move at least is a step up from the Spring thinking. But why not contemplate a mid to late October opening? That allows much more leeway and helps mitigate some of the winter weather concerns.

The story has yet to be written. If the SEC and ACC stumble then the Big Ten will look smart hanging back but still why not shoot for October and if need be adjust to November? Either way it looks like Warren will avoid a death sentence.





The Pac 12 looks like the odd dead duck. Speaking of "ducks" ex Duck WR Brenden Schooler transferred to Arizona to be with his brother LB Colin. Frustrated that the Pac 12 is skipping the fall they have both decided to transfer. Brenden just landed with Texas so hopefully Schooler along with rising sophomore Jake Smith get to make some noise for the Longhorns this fall.

Meanwhile BYU has added two more teams to their patchwork schedule, Texas at San Antonio and Texas State. Both home games in October.

But it looks like they should be able to add two more teams which would make it a ten game schedule. Four AAC teams ( Cincinnati, Memphis, USF and Temple) share open weeks with BYU so the thinking is two of them will round out their schedule. Just a hunch but BYU is the least likely team to have Covid19 issues.

The first college football games start September 3rd between UAB and Central Arkansas. Not exactly an opening treat. Hell I am desperate for college football but not that desperate.

But ESPN channels will televise a bunch of high school games tomorrow. Speaking of the Big Ten super athletic stud Penn State commit WR/ATH Liam Clifford will get a chance to shine tomorrow at 6:00 as his St. Xavier (Ohio) team plays Brownsburg out of Indiana.

So they are playing high school football in the Midwest but the Big Ten starts late? Huh?

PS: the wall to wall complaints and coverage (with the added sports disruptions) of blacks and their "plight" is literally suffocating. It is also making me somewhat physically ill because the whole thing is not based on truths. Is this one of the worst years in modern history?

I think with the PAC12 folding and the Big Ten quickly following showed how close in bed the 2 "different" conferences are. There are no re-dos for Warren. He ****** up his conferences chance of a season, no saving it now with Thanksgiving weekend. How stupid.

The Big Ten Thanksgiving start idea is hilarious. Just start with the rest of the teams. Perhaps that bozo commissioner realized how much TV/AD revenue they would lose.

This is made even worse by having HS teams not only play travel considerably in some cases to play.

Well even if I hate the turkey day start for the Big Ten, I still would prefer it over the Dumb Pac 12 waiting till jan or feb or only playing a 6 game season. Who runs these leagues and how did they get to where they are? Complete Morons.

IMO Warren is an affirmative action stooge who is being used by the corrupt leftists, he is probably not even smart enough to write his own script, he talks and the politicians looting the college loan racket their lips move and their hands are up his backside. In early July they came down with some virus theatre edicts but exempted the college campus so the kids and parents thinking they would have close to a normal school year signed leases on crappy over priced apartments. Well a week into the school year classes have been shifted to online and the off campus bars hours restricted. So there you are sitting in a crappy apartment paying out the wazoo to take online classes while your part time job at the bar restaurant went bye bye. Criminal

This happened where I live too, even on cheap rooms you have to sign a lease and nobody knows if the schools are going online /correspondence for a semester or the year. Rents even on rooms where I live are apartment prices in cheaper areas.

One university which was built in the country(back in the late 50's) is now the equivalent of the South Bronx and rent there is sky high for what you get and rapes and robberies are quite common in the area....

Hopefully JT Daniels is healthy and will be starter. The hype around Newman was hilarious.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Georgia redshirt junior QB Jamie Newman will opt out of the season.
Newman (6'3/230) transferred over to Georgia from Wake Forest back in January, but it looks like he won't be hanging around long enough to take an in-game snap with the program. Color us a little surprised. Newman played well at Wake Forest, but one of the positives behind the move to UGA was that he would be able to face SEC competition on a team which routinely pumps players into the NFL. Newman will forego that would-be proof-of-concept campaign, putting NFL evaluators in a slightly limited spot just in terms of film study. Newman threw for 2,868 yards (60.9 percent completions) with a 26/11 TD/INT ratio last season. With Newman reportedly out the Athens door, Georgia figures to turn to JT Daniels for starting work this fall. Assuming that Daniels will be ready to play coming off the knee injury which cost him essentially the whole of the 2019 season with USC.

I watched a ton of his games due to Carney...I can’t say JN sucked, but there was no there there....I saw no difference between him and Hartman....I’d love to see Hartman crush his senior year next year with Cade’s brother Tate running the ball.....

I agree. Hartman and Newman were both pretty evenly matched. I feel Newman's skin color did play a role in him getting to remain the starter. Hartman was very impressive as a true freshman and lost his job due to injury.

Sounds like the Big Ten will make an announcement to tonight. Hell if they start up in mid October and unlike the Big 12 and ACC avoid cancellations I tip my hat to them. They laid in the weeds for a spell to see which way the wind was blowing. I can't fault them for that. And after watching the early games they can't come back soon enough. The Pac 12 is looking at mid November. But since their weather is better that time of year there than say the Midwest they should be able to forage forward unless there are more wild fires?

But for the Theater of Absurd nothing beats the Air Force schedule. This sounds like something MLB would have cooked up. They are playing a whopping two games. On 10/3 they play Navy. And on 11/7 they play Army. Kind of hard for RB Kade Remsberg to gain 1,000 yards this season. Two games? Is this some sort of joke? I know they are in a conference but it is Air Force. Let them find a bunch of teams to play. They are kind of important to the country. As Vince Lombardi used to say
"what the hell is going on out there?"

It is official. The Big Ten is coming back. That's the good news. I am little perturbed it will be a week later than initially thought. So the weekend of October 24th will kick things off and they will play an eight game schedule ( I prefer ten games) culminating in the league championship game on December 20th. Crucially the Big Ten will be done in time to qualify for the National Championship game.

But without room now to take a week off in case of problems they have to get all their games in each week. No room for error. I suspect things will work out but you never know. There have been at least 13 or more college games postponed already this season.

Many are pointing to Ohio State HC Ryan Day as a catalyst. When the Big Ten cancelled the season earlier they looked to moving it to the spring. Day immediately interceded and proposed a late fall start. Well as it turned out that is where everything landed.

My favorite FBS conference so a great thing to hear they are coming back and it won't screw up draft prospects either like the spring plan would have.

Wish they were able to get a 10 game schedule in but it will be good to see some big ten football this year. I’ll update the write up thread and add big ten teams

I told you they played the "Coof" card way too early, stop listening to the conservative outrage conmen. If a "liberal" tells you the sun rises in the East and sets in the West you still discredit and disqualify the "liberal" and then take credit for the knowledge, give them nothing.

All the big time conferences are realizing the money they are leaving on the table. Kind of funny to see them flail in the wind with indecisiveness.

It also sounds like the mac and mwc want to try for a shortened fall season. Funny to see the supposed major health risks of playing in the “pandemic” magically become a minor issue.
