Speaking of the Dallas Mavericks. They are trying their best to land Danilo Gallinarri in a trade. He is averaging almost 20 pts a game and this would be a move to give the Mavs an even
better chance at making a deep playoff run and maybe possibly make the NBA Finals. It would also give them 6 of 12 guys representing us. Four of the guys are stars! I hope this happens. :)

Just watched The Bucks Vs Nuggets game. It was a good one. The Joker was just one assist away from a triple double. Finished with 15pts 10reb 9ast!! Hernangomez chipped in 12pts and 5 boards.

For The Bucks Pat Connaughton had 8pts and 10reb in extended action off the bench. He's capable of this every night. It'd be nice to see him up his production again 2nd half of the season.

Pat Connaughton will join three other players as a slam dunk contestant at the All Star Game. Glad someone is paying attention to his astonishing leaping ability.

Gordon Hayward had a flat game a few nights ago in a win. Couldn't hit a shot and it reminded me of his up and down come back year last season. But the Celtics have now won 5 straight and Hayward has been a big reason. Even in the game he lost his shot he pulled down 9 boards.

Tonight against Orlando he practically beat Orlando single handedly pouring in an easy 23 points with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. He made every clutch basket and has scored over 20 points in four out of his last five games. He is leaping better this year and is shooting a career high percentage over .500%. He is an outstanding all around player who makes his teammates better. Tonight two key guards were out but Hayward took charge and finished the job. He scored in every conceivable manner tonight.

He is slowly but surely continuing to progress towards his peak form when he was with Utah. When he is on he is great to watch. He plays basketball like Adam Thielen plays football. Graceful like a deer.

Jokic with a Monster 30/20/10 game - only the ninth player in NBA history to do so. And second white (David Lee)

Yes indeed Shadowlight! Was going to start a Pat Connaughton thread. Best of Luck to him in the Dunk Contest

"I actually like the stereotypes, because I can disprove them. In today's day and age, political correctness and stereotypes are kind of unspoken truths, if you will," said Connaughton. "From time to time, people don't want to talk about them and they're not always true, but they're just kind of the way it is. So to be able to be a part of, you know, a small group that can disprove a stereotype like 'White men can't jump,' I think is pretty cool. If you do work hard, it doesn't really matter who you are, where you're from, what box people try to place you in. You can kind of get out of that box. You can accomplish what you want to with some hard work, with some dedication."

Interesting quote.

As far as white athletes, especially high school and college stars, the most obvious difference between now and say roughly five years ago is the emergence of twitter accounts. Most white stars of national merit with some exceptions, have a twitter account that usually revolves around "advertising" themselves in the best light possible. They are using twitter as a publicity tool for recruiters and or pro scouts.

Contrast this new environment to the day when white athletes were supposed to stand in their allotted caste corner without a peep. Nowadays many white athletes proudly post say their fast 40 yard dash times or positive press from a game or event.

It makes me wonder if this site has had any influence on this modern development and if so how much? But I think it is a positive thing and it appears young white athletes today are more aware of being pigeonholed and stereotyped than they were in the past where they were much more passive in accepting that sort of rhetoric.

Whether this new twitter world actually increases the flow of young white athletes into major colleges in sports like basketball and football is unclear. Of course many black athletes utilize twitter too so it is too early to judge this new phenomenon. Only time will tell but at the end of the day all this white twitter publicity can't hurt.

For years I used to get the impression too many white athletes didn't bother trying to run fast figuring that is something for blacks only. That mindset may still be true to some extent today but anything that breaks that spell is most welcome.

Philadelphia has been struggling behind their two media heroes Ben Simmons ( who can only score on dunks and layups) and lumbering big man Joel Embiid. They foolishly disposed of their only real shooter JJ Redick before the season and have paid dearly for that. Last night they won going away against Memphis thanks to 6'7" guard Furkan Korkmaz who had a career game. Just 22, much like Svi of Detroit, they are both young developing players but their playing arc suggests they should become NBA starters soon if they continue to become acclimated to the NBA.

Korkmaz had the stat line of the night and his best game as a pro. 34 points on 13-17 shooting including 7-9 from three to go along with 6 boards and 4 assists. He still is inconsistent partly a result of not getting steady playing time but last night gave us a glimpse of his talent. Great shooter with some quickness. He is currently shooting close to 40 % from three point land. Svi is actually shooting 42.5% from three so two deep shooters with some athleticism to keep an eye on going forward.

Let's go Air Connaughton!

Far from a one trick pony no player in the NBA in his size range rebounds at a higher level. He had another 9 tonight in a victory without the Greek Freak. PC averages 11.6 rebounds per 48 minutes which is something when you consider he is 6'5". Those are big man rebounding numbers.

Korkmaz, see above continued his red hot shooting as he poured in 31 points in another 76ers win yesterday. He threw in an athletic baseline jam for good measure too!

Wow that's actually a very refreshing take, you don't see to many white basketball players with chops like that!

McCaffrey said something similar a while back and it caused a great stink in some circles, it seems white athletes are cognizant about stereotypes towards them and white athleticism, but few speak out in fear of personal standing and reputation with this modern-day media and ethos. The young white athletes and up-and-comers seem to enter their careers well-aware these days.

Pat came out dressed as Woody Harrellsons character in "White Men Can't Jump" . He was able to complete his dunk on his 1st attempt all the other affletes took two or three tries. 2 still given better scores than Pat. Not one honkey as a Dunk Judge..

Very true. Also on Derrick Jones JR dunk he pushed off the guys shoulder he was dunking over which is cheating. The announcers ignorred it. Howard is an old man and 7ft tall. He shouldn't even be there. Everyone but Connaugton missed a dunk yet they gave Pat a lower scorer. What a joke.
