i would love to see them push each other to great success but, as we all know, a lot can happen. Media can kill an athlete.
Will conditions be good for sprinting next week? I'm almost afraid to watch because perfect conditions rarely happen when I do.
Williams legs bend sideways under the force lol.
With regards Browning, imagine being just 6 hours too old to be Australian junior record holder.
I blame his mum

I have high hopes that all the boys will be successful in qualifying for Commonwealth games. Fingers crossed for Sally Pearson! MM maybe you can answer as to why there is such hype around Michelle Jenneke aside from being hot and having a very enjoyable to watch warmup at the start line. Does she really possess the talent to be a world class 100m hurdler?

I think not. She struggles to do 100 in 11.80 whereas Sally can go 11.10s, she has her own bit of modelling fame and a clothing design business riding on the back of her youtube fame. I don't think she has the ticker to really want to get any better really.
There's a girl from Western Australia (Brianna Beahan) who's knocking on the door of world class who's better than Michelle and has more incentive to do well. She has just done a 13.02 legal to stake a Com Games spot.

Another unknown Czech with a fast time in the 60m.
They might be able to field a competitive 4 x 100m relay team.
60m 1 Zdenek Stromsik (cze) 6.60; 2 Jan Volko (svk) 6.63; 4 Dominik Zaleksy (cze) 6.68; 6 Jan Veleba (cze) 6.76

Although it must be said that CZE and SVK haven't been a unit since January 1993 .
Pity, because these countries without a large population and little interest in track could use each others' help.
I've noticed in the past week how strong Poland is though. Always tough 4 x 400 guys and lots of other good individuals coming through various events. They are poorer and tougher than countries like mine

Volko ran a 6.58 in 2017. So him beating that this indoor season will be a really great sign.

Su Bingtian should obliterate his PB in the 100. I really hope he stays healthy as he is a big time caste buster.

Tortu has a 6.62 so far this indoor season. Tortu and Volko are outside threats to the 10.00 barrier right now as they both have great top speed.

Karsten Warholm and Yuliya Levchenko shared the honour of being European Athletics’ Rising Stars of 2017 and they both showed what great winter seasons they are having with standout performances on Saturday (10).

In Tampere, reigning world 400m hurdles champion Warholm maintained his fine form in his final indoor race this year, running an all-time best for the 300m hurdles on a 300m track in the Finnish city , clocking a time of 34.26.

He had equalled the indoor mark of 34.92 from this meeting last year and now has the overall time with his performance replacing Great Britain’s Chris Rawlinson’s mark of 34.48 from Sheffield in 2002.

“One thing was to beat the indoor record, but it was even cooler to beat the outdoor record. That was the one I wanted to beat. I am very pleased," he told Friidrett.no after the competition.

young and confident in his ability is Warholm. I hope he remains that way.

Excitement is building for the Australian Commonwealth Games trials starting tomorrow.
This article seems pretty correct in my estimation.
Pearson's presence will lift a young and fairly moderate relay team. The young fellas with Joshua Clark, all fit, would have a big chance to break our 23 year old 4x100 record of 38.17 from Gothenberg 1995.

(Edited: sorry, it looked like this video was only posted a few weeks ago, so I thought it was a new record. Still, I'll leave it up, because it's a feast for the eyes. Plus, the Shinnick news is new).

Also, former high school phenom Zach Shinnick has been running well as a freshman at USC. Excellent indoor times, and he recently ran the lead leg on the team that just broke the NCAA indoor record in the 4 x 400.

Wow. Did we miss this earlier? Eva Swoboda set a junior world record in the 60m.

Now that is a nice-looking field of athletes! ;) I notice that the only supa-athlete managed to finish dead last. How is this possible with black athletic superiority?

Com Games selection trials:
well, the favourites didn't waste energy in the 100 heats tonight for the semis and finals tomorrow evening.
Trae Williams wasted a bit on a new PR of 10.21 with his cadence at 5.6 steps a second apparently. In his heat Browning eased off with his 10.32 which was 4/10ths clear of a fairly average field. Hale had a slow start in his heat, but easily caught up then eased down for his 10.41. Likewise , Joshua Clarke had it won by the 20 metres mark and just went through the motions for his 10.43.
The wind readings were all negligible and I think these 4 will blitz the rest tomorrow.
It will be good to see the semis which will reveal more about the final 2 hours later.
As with tonight, it will be live streamed here so anything special happens and it'll be posted by me around this time tomorrow

Jan Volko with a new personal best today to win the 60 meters in Poland. He ran a scorching 6.57 seconds
and the 20 year old continues to impress! Great performance as he won his heat earlier too. It was a close
race but he kept his composure and stayed relaxed. This slovanian is gonna be a superstar!

Here is a video of the whole meet which was live earlier today. The 60 final is at the very end of the video.

Thanks for posting the race meet link! Nice race from Volko, he has such a strange sprinting style, his lower body movement is exceptional but his upper body is not so great especially his arm swing. Some more seasoning and training to iron this form out and he will be exceptional. Kinda reminds me of Hale with the lean forward torso but his hips and knees are like he is floating....

semi s completed. WE need a 2 metre wind for the final I think to get those 10.15 qualifiers

1 Williams, Trae QLD 10.21Q 0.5
2 Hale, Jack TAS 10.25Q -0.6
3 Browning, Rohan NSW 10.27Q 0.6
4 Clarke, Joshua NSW 10.31Q -0.6
5 Hartmann, Alexander QLD 10.34Q 0.5
6 Bresland, Aaron AWA 10.45Q 0.6
7 Ntiamoah, Isaac NSW 10.41q 0.5
8 Jung, Jin Su NSW 10.48q 0.6

Clarke was leading Hale and visibly eased off when he knew he would qualify. Do these guys have anything more to give in the final in 2 hours time? I really hope so.

Trae Williams 10.10 WL (0.4)
Rohan Browning 10.20
Josh Clarke 10.31
Alex Hartmann 10.32
Jack Hale (broke down for 12.42)
Here's our relay team with at least one, probably 3 inidividual sprinters to go to the Games

sad to see Hale go down, I thought in his semi he pushed to hard to pass Clarke possibly tweaking a muscle at the finish. These times are not going to get them podium finishes at the Commonwealth Games but the relay should do well! Riley Day looks solid in the women's 100m semis, noticed Breen scratched.

Very good times with the pressure and all of their 3rd races in 2 days. It's a good growing experience for
all of them to prepare for the world championships and Olympics someday. Running rounds is very hard
to do as it takes excellent speed endurance. I think Trae Williams is amazing. He ran hard in all 3 races and
yet still put up and incredible time. Would love to see what he lifts in the weight room. He is a beast!

Sad to for Hale. He has worked so hard. Hope to see all of these guys at least occasionally this summer in Europe.

In the 100m final at 30-40m Hale (who had a terrible start) was starting to roll then pulled up with a hamstring tweak or was he feigning an injury(lot of people on social media saying this) because he felt he could not get there in time? Judging from his semi-final results I think he tried to push too hard to catch up after a slow start in the final and got a tweak from his hamstring which anyone who has sprinted makes you shut it down quickly and you end up hobbling just as he did. It sucks because I still believe he has the most talent of the bunch.
