So far in his pro career Garoppolo looks good. He could develop into a franchise quarterback.

If Tom Brady's suspension is upheld Garoppolo would start the first four games of the season. I predict he will play well.

Bill Belichick said the other day that Tom Brady will be the starter after his suspension no matter how well Garoppolo performs. Very silly question by the media of course and I've always enjoyed Belichick's undisguised contempt for reporters, but I took it as a sign that Garoppolo is looking good running the offense. Matt Cassel performed well in '08 when Brady was out for the season but wasn't very good once he left the Patriots, so expect a talent like Jimmy to surprise DWFs with his effectiveness the first four games of the season.

Garoppolo was traded to the 49ers for a 2018 2nd round draft pick. Seems like a good deal for both teams.

Tom Brady is now the only quarterback on the Patriots so they'll probably sign someone.

Hoyer was released by the 49ers. He could be signed as Brady's backup. He's played for the Patriots before.

I like the trade. Garoppolo deserves a chance to see if he can become a franchise quarterback, and the Patriots get an early second round draft pick, which they'll undoubtedly squander on some "project" at defensive tackle who will be a bust. It also means they have confidence in Tom Brady's ability to continue playing at a very high level in his early 40s.

It's a good situation. I was pleasantly surprised to see it happen. This takes the 49ers out of the QB market in the draft and gives Garoppolo the rest of this lost season to get up to speed with the 49ers offense. Next year is pretty deep with QBs so perhaps they have another potential successor to Brady targeted. Trent Taylor and Kittle should see an uptick in productivity.

It also makes the Browns look much worse as the 49ers did something to address their QB situation and give the fan base hope.

Excited to see what Jimmy G can do as a starter! Another solid move by Lynch!

From pretty good sources. Tom Brady wanted Garoppolo to disappear and that is what happened. When you are the greatest QB of all time you get to dictate a lot of things.
