Sorry but I can't help posting about anyone no matter how obscure, since white WR's are still a rare specie. So UCONN just signed a Robert Morris transfer Kyle Buss. The two bits of bad news is I believe he is from the class of 2014. The second is he will probably have to sit out this season unless he gets a waiver which is unlikely. He is 5'10 about 190 Lbs. So the good news apart from the fact he is a WR is he has been timed in the 40 as fast as 4.34 seconds. He had a terrific freshman season for Robert Morris back in 2015.
http://rmucolonials.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=4656

It's interesting that if a player moves up from FCS to FBS he is required to sit out a year but if an FBS player wants to move down to FCS he is eligible to play immediately.

Potential caste buster for the Tennessee Vols Josh Smith-(Sr.) 6'1 205. Listed as the 3rd receiver on the depth chart, but if he can stay healthy he should surprise. Caught 58 passes for 721 yards and 5 TD's in his career.

Nice piece on K/WR Will Hastings of Auburn. Pretty much on the back burner last season hopefully more front and center now. Anytime an elite SEC team has a white WR making noise it is a good thing.
One more thing to add on. His speed in the 10 yard splits is off the charts. His twenty yard shuttle is blinding and from what I am hearing he ran the 40 this spring in 4.28 and 4.35 laser timed!!!!!
If he can build up a decent resume the next two seasons he might get considered for a slot WR in the NFL. Another player to root for like crazy.

Some performances of note (mostly) from Week 1:

Riley Miller – the Ball State sophomore wideout accounted for nearly half of his team’s passing attack in the Cardinals’ opener. He caught 7 (of his team’s 21) balls for 86 yards (of his team’s 204). Obviously, it should come as no surprise that the state of Indiana’s top high school receiver (in both receptions and yardage) as a senior and multi-sport (football, track, basketball) record setter (football, track) was a walk-on.

Nick Easley – a junior, and junior college All-American, the Reiver-turned-Hawkeye accounted for more than half of Iowa’s passing game in their opener, hauling in 4 (of his team’s 8) completions and 77 yards (of his team’s 125) to go along with 1 touchdown. This is nothing new, as he was the leading receiver nationally a year ago at the juco level. Possibly the fastest player on the offensive side of the ball for Iowa (and also an excellent punter!) and a starter at wideout, it should surprise no one that he is playing without a scholarship. That’s right. He’s STILL a walk-on!

Will Hastings – the slightly built, hiccup-quick slot machine led the Auburn Tigers in every receiving category in their opener, totaling about a third of their passing attack. He finished with 4 catches (on 4 targets) for 68 yards and a touchdown. The former kicker is recognized as owning TWO all-time agility drill records at Auburn and is reported as having sub-4.4 speed (as well as having gained over 2,000 receiving yards IN JUST ONE SEASON in high school), so it should be obvious that he began his collegiate career as a walk-on.

Dylan Collie – the Hawaii junior wideout accounted for nearly all of his team’s air attack this past week. He hauled in 7 (of his team’s 11) completions and 104 yards (of his team’s 154), including a touchdown. He also had 1 carry for 23 yards. He was not a walk-on.

Troy Fumagalli – the Wisconsin tight end was simply unstoppable in the Badgers’ season opener. He amassed 5 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown and didn’t play a down after halftime.

Adam Breneman – the UMass tight end has been unstoppable in the season’s early going. In the Minutemen’s opening loss, he went for 9 catches for 172 yards. In their second game, he grabbed 9 more balls for 126 yards before injuring his ankle in the third quarter. Here’s hoping the dynamic playmaker heals swiftly!

Bailey Gaither – the San Jose State sophomore wideout had a big game for a bad team this week. He pulled in 6 catches for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns AND blocked a punt, which set up one of his scores. Not bad for a lightly recruited (two Division One scholarship offers) “overachiever” against the all-affletic secondary of the #19 team in the country.

Mark Andrews – tight end for Oklahoma. Let me quote a fitting recap of his opening game performance:

Mark Andrews was the most impressive Sooners offensive player on Saturday. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end had 7 receptions for 134 yards -- 19.1 yards per catch -- with one touchdown. But his stats alone weren't the only story; it was how he accumulated those statistics that was vital. Andrews was a yard-after-the-catch monster, rarely going to the turf immediately after catching a pass. He executed ridiculous jump cuts and back jukes to find open field then turned on the jets to rack up extra yards. Andrews had gains of 20, 23, 26, and 45 yards against UTEP. He was Gronkowskian.

He and Fumagalli are the early favorites to be the first tight ends drafted.

Performances of note for Week 2:

East_Carolina_West_Virginia_Football_21793.jpg

David Sills V – the junior quarterback-turned-wideout exploded for 7 catches for 153 yards and 3 touchdowns. He had 9 catches for 94 yards and 2 tds in Week 1, and (as noted above by zak anthony) is currently tied for the national lead in receiving touchdowns.

636402889647543460-Mannix-McLane-at-Northwestern-090217-2-.jpg

McLane Mannix – the Nevada true freshman looks like a man amongst boys in the season’s early going. In Week 2, he was the Wolfpack’s lone offensive bright spot (literally and figuratively), catching 6 balls for 139 yards, including a 75-yard sprint to the endzone. It is the second game in a row where Mannix, who scored last week on his second collegiate snap, has burst for a long touchdown. He is one of the national leaders in yards-per-catch, averaging 26.9 on his 8 grabs.

UMassODU-HG-091117-ph6

Andy Isabella – the UMass junior has been remarkably consistent, with at least 5 catches, 1 touchdown, and a dynamic running play in all three of the Minutemen’s games thus far. This week, in yet another loss, he collected 5 balls for 105 yards and 1 score while gaining 14 yards on his single carry.

maxresdefault.jpg

Cody Thompson – perhaps the nation’s most complete wide receiver, the Toledo junior once again gained over a 100 yards in the passing game. At this point, it’s almost routine. This time he hauled in 8 catches for 101 yards and 1 touchdown, an average day for the dynamic deep threat.

491180394.jpg

Austin Proehl – the vastly underutilized senior “possession” receiver had a breakout performance for UNC, hauling in 8 catches for 120 yards.

6_7582719.jpg

Trey Quinn – the SMU junior (by way of LSU) had his most productive collegiate game to date, collecting 6 passes for 96 yards.

I had no idea until just now while researching Nebraska's upcoming game with NIU this weekend...Senior WR Chad Beebe, son of former NFL WR speedster Dan Beebe, currently leads NIU in receiving, with 10 receptions for 125 yards in two games.

photobucket has changed their policy, and now charges a fee to link to photos hosted with them. additionally, they have an overwhelming amount of pop up ads. consequently, i will no longer be using their site.

what site do you guys use?

Week 3 performances of note:

59be0d705bb1b.image.jpg

Hunter Renfrow - keeps coming up big for Clemson, hauling in 4 catches for 71 yards.

dillon stoner vs pitt.jpg
Dillon Stoner - the Ok State freshman exploded for 5 catches for 100 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown catch-and-run.

Stephen+Houzah+Mercer+v+Auburn+N9FMjpoWv1ml.jpg

Will Hastings - continues to leave "real" affletes grasping for air. the former walk-on had a game-high 71 yards on just 3 catches for the Auburn Tigers.

Trenton Irwin - was the only effective threat in Stanford's passing game versus SDSU. the junior's 6 catches for 49 yards was more than the rest of his teammates' efforts combined. it was also his 17th consecutive game with at least one catch.

normal_smu_wide_receiver_trey_quinn_18_beats_tcu_safety_niko_small_2_to_the_end_zone_for_a_touchdown_recept.jpg

Trey Quinn - the LSU transfer continues to emerge as a playmaker for SMU, collecting game-highs of 7 catches for 116 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown. he also completed his lone pass attempt for 34 yards.

4087790_web1_top_spt091717_kufballOhio3.jpg

Brendan Cope - Ohio's fastest and biggest wide receiver finally made the big plays many have long been waiting for, hauling in 5 catches for a game-high 104 yards against Kansas.

web1_9.18-OU-Meyer.jpg

Andrew Meyer - the seldom-used junior snagged 5 passes for 86 yards and 1 touchdown, including a couple of BEAUTIFUL grabs.

59bd801081b34.cover.jpg

Trever Ryen - Iowa State's fastest player, and obviously a former walk-on, had a team-high 6 catches for a game-high 80 yards. by fastest player, i mean on the entire campus ... as he's also the track team's top sprinter.

usa-today-8825392.0.jpg

Charlie Callinan - the seldomly thrown to senior had a big day against Notre Dame, catching 7 balls for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Cody Thompson - the nation's top wideout had a "quiet" night as he put up video game numbers: 9 catches, 178 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

McLane Mannix - the Nevada freshman continued putting up good numbers for a bad team in yet another loss, collecting 7 passes for 82 yards and 1 touchdown.

Bennett Skowronek - the Northwestern sophomore hauled in 3 passes for 86 yards, with two of the balls going for long touchdowns (58 and 18 yards, respectively).

Luke Mayock - a sophomore for Miami (OH), Mayock had his best collegiate performance to date with 4 catches for 74 yards and 1 touchdown.

Dylan Cantrell - the under-utilized senior was finally targeted, and he responded in a BIG way: 8 catches for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns. he added a 3-yard touchdown run, as well.

Bailey Gaither - the SJSU sophomore remains the most potent weapon in his team's passing attack, catching 8 balls for 125 yards and 1 touchdown (all of which surpassed the rest of his combined teammates).

California (Jr) WR- Vic Wharton is having a nice 2017 season! Had another good game against USC, with 6 receptions for 86 yds!
There's been talk about his ethnic background, but i'm pulling for him as one of our guys. His little family photo with his GF and kid, shows he views himself as white as well. Without a doubt the media, and fans will label him as a white possession-type Slot receiver from day 1!

I know this is hard to believe, but Wharton's father is black and his mother is white.

Unfortunate both of UNC's white receivers are out for the season with injuries, Austin Proehl and Thomas Jackson
