Someone posted earlier he did some wild celebration after running his first race and injured himself. I don't know if he is out for the year.

He is back to light training from what I read. He should be ready to compete later this month

Speaking of youth mastermulti. Finland's Samuel Purola ( yes for lurkers he just turned 17 six weeks ago ) ran the 100 and won in some obscure meet in Manheim , Germany today. He lowered his personal best of 10.35 with a + 1.5 wind to 10.31 with virtually no wind. I am assuming it was a small meet. The weird thing being that if he were American he would not be competing this late in the year let alone college unless it was a local race where the college runner ran unattached to maintain his amateur status. Two things.
One ,does the few posters on this forum know what the requirements are for European sprinters of that age and how they are allowed to compete?
Secondly, I have to say a 10.31 with a .01 wind that with the optimum legal wind of 2.0 and with " real " pro sprinters pushing him the kid could have easily run 10.19 or close to that. Lemaitre ran his 9.92 with a 2.0 tail wind and with that year being his best , Lemaitre ran sub 10 four times. Purola has run sub 10.4 four times already and he has another 3 months to improve. We get the occasional young guy like American , Dallas Burroughs who runs a 10.3 and never shows up near that time again. Purola has been very consistent in his times and probably has nerves of steele going up against world class guys like erasmus, Kilty and Guliyev. This kid might be the first sub 9.9 guy in a few years. I am better at judging skill in other sports but with track it is hit and miss. I just have a feeling this kid ( if he has the genetics ) could better Lemaitre in 2 or 3 years. As I mentioned in an earlier post: I hope he goes to an American college in a warm climate. Look at Russia's population and yet can't produce one 10.3 guy at this time. Sad. Finland gets just as cold as most of Russia so I hope he comes abroad and trains at a renowned university and turns pro before the next Olympics.

Here is the video of the race. What's even more impressive is there was a false start and the sprinter next to him got charged. So they lined up the rest of the sprinters and he didn't get the best start. Amazing talent. The blonde guy that finished 2nd has some serious wheels too. That is Thomas Barthel of Germany who is only 18 years of age.

Aleksander Menkov who was the 2009 Euro Jr Champ and also the 2013 World Champ, jumped 8.32 meters this weekend.
That's 27ft and 3.5 inches.
But I believe Russia is banned from this year's World Championships, so I don't think he can compete there.

I am a newby and from Pretoria, South Africa. I saw quite a few comments about my son, Emile Erasmus. Just to confirm a few things about him. He is 25 years old and a full time Computer Engineering student. Vital stats 6'4" (1.94m) and 220lbs (100kg). I do have all his stats since 2010 and I will answer any questions you may have.
It is true that we have had a sprinting revolution in the last 3 years in South Africa, since Simon Magakwe became the firts South African to break 10s. We do have world class athletes, coaches, support staff and facilities in South Africa but lack support from our governing bodies which include finances. Despite all this our top athletes persevere and are doing well.

Hannah Cunliffe is competing the US World Championship team trials today, she will be contesting the 100m, she was accepted to compete in the 200m but did not get selected to compete. Here's hoping her hamstring holds up and she makes the team
She and Jenna Prandini appear to be the only white girls competing in the 100m and 200m
Thank you. It was a tough European season. Travel was getting to him but he is preparing for Joensuu in Finland on 12 July. He is hoping to make the World Champs squad. They can only take 3 sprinters and he is no 5 in South Africa although Wayde van Niekerk will not compete in the 100m. Currently the 3 in the top spots are Akani Simbine(9.92), Thando Roto(9.95) and Henricho Bruintjies(10.06). The goal now is, obviously sub 10, but to move to no3. He has 2 more races left to achieve this.
South Africa has not qualified for the relay yet.

I used to be a huge Morne Nagel fan. So happy to see your son competing at such a high level. He has
the ideal build for a sprinter. I hope he can stay healthy and get a few sub 10's either this summer or
in the next couple of years. He will make so much money if he does as most of the big track sponsors/meets
will want him to have a lane. Fans like to see asian and white sprinters as it's breaks up the norm and also
helps to go against the myths that only blacks can run fast. We all know this is not true. Anyone with hard
work and the right gentics can become world class. Good luck to Emile Erasmus. We are all rooting for him!

they made that a 22.10 now. Hopefully her new coach was right in delaying her peaking this season.

I am actually a little worried for Daphne, she needs to peak .40-.50 in the next 30 days or so for the worlds. To me she looks a bit on the heavy side at present, more muscular than in years past.
According to the announcers(gomers) she is not fast on the curve of the 200m because she has not practiced the curve which I find hard to believe lol. They will say/do anything to deflate a white superstar sprinter's image....
She was tying up alot the last 10m but fought through it and finished the race. Even though she is a Negro I will give Talou credit for running hard and pushing Daphne all the way from start to finish.

In the watching the Canadian Championships the last few days, mostly Qualifying heats and a few finals I have realzied how weak Canada is in most track events. The best male sprinters are all negro except 1 guy James Linde who has all the talent in the world but terrible form. His PB's are 10.42 100m 20.40 200m. All the female sprinters for the 100/200 are negro the 400m m/f are negro, hurdles F are negro, M have Cabral the rest are negro. We have Sage Watson, Melissa Bishop, Graham Hughes and some field ahtletes to cheer for and not much else.
I will never cheer for Canadian sprinters runners who are negro......
on a side note I had the pleasure of watching an Australian masters athlete named Kylie Strong run the 100m and a 15 y old female sprinter named Nicolette Donofrio win the 80mh-11.81 300mh-47.25 100m-12.55 200m-25.55 these are some really good times and she can only get better.....

Turkey’s Ramil Guliyev has been in some of the best form of his career over 200m this season but the 27-year-old demonstrated he is just as proficient over 100m with a 9.97 clocking at the Turkish Super League in Bursa, Turkey on Thursday (6).
Guliyev produced one of the standout performances at the European Athletics Team Championships First League in Vaasa, Finland where he sped to a championship record of 20.20 on a cool and breezy afternoon. This was followed by a victory in the Paris Diamond League the following weekend in 20.15 despite not being sure if he was even going to start due to a stomach virus.
Guliyev was at full health on home soil in Bursa yesterday evening when he sped to a lifetime best in the 100m of 9.97 to join Jimmy Vicaut at the top of the European rankings. This was his first time under the ten second-barrier, although he was credited with a hand-timed 9.9 at the start of the season.
In doing so, Guliyev became just the sixth European sprinter in history to have broken the sub-10 barrier for the 100m and the sub-20 barrier for the 200m. After finishing sixth at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, Guliyev sped to a 19.88 clocking in Zagreb less than a fortnight later to move to sixth on the European all-time lists.

Livermore, who could face a four-year ban, declined to comment on Gammon's statement when contacted by Reuters.
Gammon would not name the alleged banned substance but said Livermore had violated Article 2.1 of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission's (JADCO's) rules, which refer to the "Presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites or markers in an athlete's sample".
Livermore, who also won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the 4x100m with Usain Bolt, Kemar Bailey-Cole and Nickel Ashmeade, had a preliminary hearing on Friday in front of the disciplinary panel at the Jamaica Conference Centre.
He will start the fight to clear his name at a full hearing on Sept. 11 to be attended by JADCO and his representatives.
Sources close to the case told Reuters Livermore had not asked for his 'B' sample to be tested. Livermore declined to comment when asked by Reuters if he had requested such a test.

Julian Reus is in the final running a 10.16 into a -0.2 wind. Michael Pohl and Roy Schmidt look
to be in good form to. We will know it a little while.
I would love to see Julian Reus finally get that sub 10 and another championship win at the age of 29.
It would make the day even better if Gina Luckenkemper go go sub 11. She is so talented as well
as most of their female sprinters. They should make the 4 x 100 finals at the world champs.

Julian Reus is crowned the fastst man in Germany again. He wasn't pushed very hard and the
wind was almost non existent most of the day. He won in a time of 10.10 +0.2 wind! Not a bad
time without competition. Pohl and Schmidt finished 2nd and 3rd but it really wasn't much
of a race. I would like to see Reus double up and win the deuce so he can work on his speed endurance.
So no sub 10 but the guy is still a living legend in Germany as their best male sprinter ever with his 10.01 P.B.
from last summer. The main knock on him has always been that he gets nervous and under perfoms outside of Germany and in the World Champs & Olympics. Here is hoping he does better this summer. I've always thought it is a mental thing. He has all of the physical tools.

I wanted to add a comment about this semi final race. She ran this time with 0 wind and she eased
up around 5 meters out. She could have easily been the first Non GDR Female Sprinter to go sub 11.
In the finals she aslo tripped coming out of the blocks and ran a 11.10 into a -0.7 wind so she did
everything today on her own power. Incredible sprinter and she is so talented not to mention pretty.
Congrats again to this fast rising star from Germany!

Melissa Bishop won the Canadian Track Champ 800m in 2:00.26 literally ran the race by herself, she wasn't even breathing heavy at the end..lots more in the tank. Johnathan Cabral won the men's 110mh in slow time, popped his hamstring as he was going over the 9th hurdle managed the 10th and limped across finish line then took a header....not good news.
On a sour note, I just found out that Shawn Barber top 5 PV got busted for Cocaine last summer and came out as gay around the same time....why he wasn't suspended I do not know. I will not cheer for a druggie...
