2016-2017 season

I was looking around at mid-major regular season conference winners, and decided to mention one of them, a familiar team for most CF readers.

The team I'd like to talk about is the Belmont Bruins. The Bruins have always been very white friendly under longtime Coach Rick Byrd, and this year is no exception, with four white athletes getting the start. The Bruins also have six of eight white guys in their rotation of guys that average 10+ minutes, and 7 of 10 for the entire rotation. Belmont is led by forward Evan Bradds, who should be OVC Player of the Year. At 6'7, Bradds leads the Bruins in both scoring (20.8 PPG) and rebounding (8.6 per game). He's mostly an inside player, and is VERY good at what he does. He's among the NCAA Leaders in field goal percentage, making over 64% of his shots. After Bradds, Belmont is a VERY balanced squad, with 5 players averaging between 8 and 12 PPG. The second leading scorer on the team is Virginia transfer Taylor Barnette. He can be good when he's hot, but for whatever reason, he's been struggling with his shot this year. Austin Luke is a great point guard for the Bruins, averaging 7.2 assists per game! Dylan Windler is a solid role player for Belmont, with the 2nd high FG % on the team. Guard Burton Sampson, and forwards Nick Smith, and Tyler Hadden round out the rotation for Belmont. They'll be heavy favorites in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, and I hope to see them dancing in a couple of weeks. Hopefully the Bruins have an upset or two up their sleeves this year. The way they've been playing, I could see them winning their first round game, depending on the matchup.

Looking forward to watching Belmont and in particular Bradds. Sounds like an interesting prospects. Matter of fact I'll be rooting on any other mid Majors that are white friendly during Tournament time! I'll have Belmont penciled in as a dark horse Sweet 16 member in my bracket!!

**Wisconsin has me worried! They've lost 4 of their last 5 and could be headed for an early exit in March if they don't sharpen up. I'm looking forward to other white friendly teams picking up the Badgers slack if they do happen to lose early on.

I agree. That's a bad loss for us if they can't turn it around. There's not many other teams that start 3 white guys and play 2 more off the bench. However, Wisconsin teams in the past usually seem to have a few bad games around tournament time. Hopefully they can right the ship.

Here's a few of our "Power Conference" teams that are playing well heading into March:

UCLA (one of the national title front runners.
Butler (starts just 1 white player now, but will usually have 2-3 on the court for long stretches most games)
Vanderbilt (2-3 white starters, and is back on the bubble.)
Purdue (1-2 white starters; had four white guys on the court for long stretches in the last game I watched).
Michigan (1 white starter, will usually have 2 on the floor for a lot of the game, Moritz Wagner is their best player).
Notre Dame (3 white starters, has 2 more that may play off the bench for some minutes).
Arizona (Markkanen and Ristic make them a good team to support).
Duke (with Kennard and Allen, they're back to a Top 15 squad).
St. Mary's (all white rotation).

Obviously, I left out all of the potential very white mid-majors that may make it in, as well as any "surprise" selections. This could be a funny tourney this year! It's so wide open, teams like UCLA and Duke have great chances to win. Even dark horses like Butler, Notre Dame, and Purdue could surprise with a run. I'm hoping that all of the white teams aren't pigeon-holed into one region, like what always seems to happen. An example would be a couple of years ago, when Iowa, Gonzaga, North Dakota State, and Davidson were all placed into one of the four-team "pods." All of the teams were well over half white (I believe 11-12 of the 20 starters were white too), and they all played at least 4-5 white guys consistently as well. I'd rather see them spread out, so that they don't have to play each other right away.

Also, I'll post some stats from the weekend today yet sometime.

As so often happens to top flight high flying white athletes they get lost in the shuffle and never truly emerge on the national stage. Notre Dame's Rex Pfleuger is a perfect example of this common trend. Now a sophomore I figured he could emerge this year like Duke's Luke Kennard as someone having a break out sophomore campaign. But this season Pfleuger has been relegated to back up duty and at this point is known as a defensive specialist but nothing for the media to get excited about. He was known as a skilled player and good shooter in high school. Last night he started and played a lot of minutes. He did not score in double digits and is mainly used as a complimentary player. He is of great interest to me because he has athletic chops. It is too bad I have not seen him on a break away dunk yet. Another white curse it seems. I believe his vertical is around 42 inches or maybe higher and he is around 6' 6". He fits the mold usually reserved to black athletes by the media as a supreme "run/ jump athlete" although I have yet heard ESPN utter a word about it beyond his hustle. Perhaps with more playing time he will start making noise and by his junior year become a full time starter and more of an option. It is hard to guess where his career will be heading but the increase in playing time is an encouraging sign. Next year ND returns two good players in Colson, an undersized black player who is not an elite athlete and Matt Farrell a terrific point guard.

will feature 40 players. They are all black. No honkies. And do not expect any white players to be invited to the 2018 boys event either. Nothing like diversity or is that selective diversity. And to think people were moaning a few years back about the Timberwolves because they had what was considered too many white players. Dissertations were written about the T- Wolves back then with the usual hand wringing and studied hypocritical hog wash. Whites have been excluded from these games for awhile most years. In some years, you'll get one or two, but a lot of years recently, there haven't been any. I'm surprised that the girls game don't even have any. 2018 could possibly have Joey Hauser, the younger brother of Sam Hauser. There are also some possible guards that could sneak into the game lurking in the Top 40-50 or so. Looking ahead, the 2019 class will have a few I believe; there's 4 white guys in the Top 40. Normally, that's terrible, but it'll be a nice improvement from what we've seen the last 10 years or so. I remember that Freethinker had a thread about the 2012 class (I believe) and how it had a ton of white guys in the Top 100. That year has been the exception more often than not.

Also, I agree your first post regarding white athletes getting pigeon-holed into "specialist roles." Whereas black players are handed the keys as freshman and can put up as many shots as they want, white players are usually "eased in," i.e. limited minutes, shot attempts, etc.

A much whiter Virginia team than earlier this season as well!! Three white athletes drew the start, including two freshman guards in Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy. Jack Salt also started, with big man Jared Reuter coming off the bench. Guy has been simply spectacular his last two games. He lead the Cavaliers to the upset with a team-high 17 points, with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and some good defense to boot!

Michigan is not as white-friendly as previous seasons, but as already mentioned here, has a newly-minted "lead dog" in German big man Moritz Wagner. Wagner scored 22 first-half points against Big Ten POY frontrunner Caleb Swanigan to lead the Wolverines over conference leader Purdue this weekend. Here's a fun snippet of his offensive highlights:

As promised, here's my run down of some of the key stat lines this weekend:

Saturday

Conner Frankkamp continued his good play, with 14 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds in a huge Wichita State victory.

As Shadowlight alluded to earlier, Kyle Guy led the way against NC State with 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists as Virginia snapped their losing streak.

Michigan's Moritz Wagner (as Phall mentioned in the post above) set a career high with 24 points against Purdue as the Wolverines punched their tournament ticket. Duncan Robinson added 11 points.

South Dakota State's Mike Daum continued his stellar play, netting 30 points to go with 7 boards against Denver.

Iowa's Jordan Bohannon will be a great one. He led the Hawkeyes with 24 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds in over 30 minutes against Maryland. The Terps got a team-high 13 points from Kevin Huerter.

Albany's Joe Cremo has proven to be a good player, leading the Great Danes with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists against Hartford.

Belmont defeated all-black Tennessee State in their last conference game. It was a team effort, led by Evan Bradds with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Taylor Barnette had 13, and Austin Luke had 11 points and 5 assists.

South Dakota guard Matt Mooney had a game-high 27 points and 8 rebounds as the Coyotes won their first Summit League Title since making the jump to Division 1 basketball.

Tim Kempton had another great game for Lehigh, scoring 25 and 11 against Army.

UCLA had a huge win over Arizona, and it was a team effort for the Bruins, with 5 guys in between 11 and 15 points. Alford led the team with 15 points, 6 boards, and 3 assists. Thomas Welsh had 14 points and 8 rebounds, while TJ Leaf had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.

It was just another day at the office for St. Mary's, who grabbed an easy 70-56 win over Santa Clara. Jock Landale had 17 and 6, while Emmett Naar and Calvin Hermanson had 13 apiece.

BYU shocked Number 1 Gonzaga on the Zags' homecourt. Erik Mika was a major reason why, scoring 29 points and grabbing 11 boards to go with 2 blocks and an assist. TJ Haws had a cool 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.


Sunday

Butler got a big win on the road against Xavier, and Andrew Chrabascz was a big reason why. He had 11 points, 6 assists, and 2 boards. JP Macura had 17 for the Musketeers.

Tyler Lydon had 17 points and 10 boards against Louisville.

Matt Farrell had 17 points as Notre Dame knocked off Georgia Tech to continue their hot streak. Ben Lammers had 12 points, 10 boards, and 4 blocks in a losing effort.

Josh Hawkinson may play for one of the worst power conference teams in Washington State, but he's one of the most underrated players in the country. He had 22 points and 7 boards as the Cougars knocked off their black power instate rivals.

To follow up on what JL mentioned about future classes I might at some point go over the girls classes of 2018 and 2019 which at this point could land some McDonald's All Americans. The boys 2018 class looks dry at the top but it is possible Joey Hauser, a better prospect than his brother and maybe Tyler Herro could sneak in to the Burger All Star game but right now the top 25 players listed are black. So in desperate mode I will focus in on the more promising class of 2019. 2020 isn't looking too shabby at this point either but some names you might want to follow from the class of 2019 that are listed in the top 60 of most scouting services.
Rylan Jones a PG out of Utah with quickness.
Isaac Johnson a PF with outstanding skills and is no athletic slouch.
Patrick McCaffery a PF out of Iowa--I think he is the son of Iowa head coach. Good athlete.
The next three have a decent shot of making the burger game.
Balsa Koprivica is a skilled C who some are comparing to Tim Duncan.
Joey Baker an athletic SF out of NC. Great dunker.
Matthew Hurt is a long willowy leaper out of MN who plays PF. HUGE UPSIDE!!

Terrible news. America will never truly be able to appreciate how good Alec Peters actually is.

And now TJ Leaf has an ankle sprain. Just great. Not sure on the severity yet, however.

Good news, TJ Leaf is day-to-day, and hopes to be back for the Pac-12 Tournament next week. It looks like we dodged a bullet on that one.

Anyway, with the season winding down, there aren't as many games, but we still had some good performances last night.

In that UCLA/Washington game, Bryce Alford was spectacular. He led both teams with 29 points on 10/18 shooting (and 8/14 from beyond the arc). This kid is simply on fire this year. With Leaf not playing as much, Gyorgy Goloman stuffed the stat sheet in his absence, with 8 points, 6 boards, 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

Marquette is still working to clinch a tournament bid, and they just took a major step towards that goal by beating Xavier. Andrew Rowsey led the way with 20 points (including 9/9 at the free throw line) and also had 5 assists and 3 rebounds. Katin Reinhardt had 17 points and 3 assists, while Sam Hauser had 12 points and 6 boards. JP Macura had 20 in the loss.

I find that very disgusting! In a country where every organisation is aiming to be more ethnically diverse, not a single player who isn't black. I mean its not even just whites anymore, you would think they would push to represent other minorities like asians, indians, hispanics but naw " we love our affeletes". I will not be watching the All-African game! Also Team USA has been all black for a few years now, it nowhere near represents the demographics of America. Disgusting!

"Diversity" of course is code for anti-white.

Here is a stat line you don't see like ever. Katie Lou Samuelson went 10 for 10 from three point land on her way to 40 points in the AAC title game. She got to 40 with only 4 made free throws and 12 of 14 shooting. Throw in 5 assists and a couple of steals. And she sat out a quarter plus! I am having trouble accessing ESPN but at one point I saw a highlight where she just shrugged (much like Jordan did vs Portland in the NBA finals back when or Joey Bosa after a sack) after making one of her three pointers. It was very cute. This was UCONN's 107th straight win!!!

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, but my job has kept me busy. It hasn't stopped me from paying attention to the tournament when I have been able, however. Here are some of the good things I've seen thus far this week.

South Dakota State made the NCAA tournament!! They have 4 white starters and future a potential NBA player in big man Mike Daum.

Virginia is now one of our teams to support. They'll start 2-3 white guys, with Kyle Guy and Jack Salt, and sometimes Ty Jerome. Jared Rueter comes off the bench as well.

Notre Dame is on a tear through the ACC tournament, and will face Florida State tonight on ESPN.

Vanderbilt (with their 2-3 white starters) are now solidly in the NCAA tourney from what I've seen.

Bucknell won the Patriot League to get into the tournament. They only have two white starters, but they are the Bison's best players. Freshman guard Kimbal Mackenzie, and junior forward Zach Thomas.

Davidson is now in the semis of the A10 tournament and are a potential "bid stealer" team. I hope they steal one, since they have 3-4 white starters and will play some off the bench.

There's a lot more to post with stats and such, but it's looking like it should be a great tournament this year.

Grayson Allen is on fire right now!! 5 threes and 17 total points as Duke is trying to come back against UNC. Also, when did Allen get taken out of the starting lineup? You'll NEVER see a black star EVER get benched for anything, ever. They could have an entire season's worth of bad games, but they'll always be in as starters. It doesn't both me much beyond that since he's basically still a starter, playing 28+ minutes per game, but still.

Also, UCLA and Arizona are playing tonight as well if you guys are interested. It'll be on ESPN after the Notre Dame game.

Duke came back from being down 13 points late in the second half to win the game . Kennard had 18 points and Grayson Allen had 20 points. Speaking of Grayson Allen it's really disheartening to see how he was destroyed by the caste system this year. He was one of the best players in the nation last year. He put up great numbers and shot the ball at a very high percentage. The mock drafts I was looking at back then had him going in the middle of the first round(would easily be a top 3 pick if he were black)

Anyway this season was supposed to be his year, he was supposed to be a finalist for the Wooden award while solidifying himself as a lottery pick . Instead the exact opposite happens. His numbers are all down, his shooting percentages plummeted, and the mock drafts now either him going in the 2nd round(which is terrible in the NBA) or not even getting drafted at all. This is infuriating when you see how great of a player he is. He's an athletic freak, he can drive to the rim at will, he can create his own shot, he can jump out of the gym, and unlike most athletic affletes he's a good shooter. If I had to compare him to someone I'd say he's Dwyane Wade but with a jump-shot.

I can't believe I'm not going to get to see him light it up in the NBA. He was supposed to be the great white hope. He has superstar potential. He almost managed to slip through the cracks but the system caught him before he could make it through



Btw @Jack Lambert if you're watching the UCLA game did you hear Bill Walton call out Allonzo Trier for lying about why he tested positive for PEDs ? It was hilarious and you can bet on hearing some accusations of racism because he mentioned how prisoners lie all the time . The cuck play by play guy next to him was almost speechless

Grayson Allen is still gonna make in in the nba in my opinion. Despite everything going wrong this
season, with good showing in the ACC Tounament and then March Madness, most of the negatives
should be forgotten. He can be a better version of JJ Reddick who was pretty damn special himself. With
Allen the sky is the limit if he is on the right team with a chance to get significant minutes.

Enjoyed the UCLA vs AZ Game tonight. Alot of talent from our guys on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, I've commented before about him only being a junior. He can stay at Duke for his senior season and quote, redeem himself for all the haters. Normally, I wouldn't suggest this, but it may be a better option in order for him to move back in to the first round. In hind sight, he probably should have left Duke after his sophomore season. I agree with WL. He will still get a chance to make an NBA team.

JL or anyone else, you may have covered this already, but what's the word on Duke's recruiting class next season? If Allen leaves, that will leave only Kennard as a consistent starter.

Haha yeah, I did hear that, and I was thinking the same thing. Walton will say what's on his mind, and you gotta respect him for that.

Duke currently has Top 60 guard Alex O'Connell committed for their next class, with 2-3 other "more talented players" likely to join him. Kennard and Allen will both be starters next year, with perhaps freshmen Jack White or Antonio Vrankovic playing bigger roles next year as well. Tatum is gone, and I've heard that maybe Giles will join him. I hope Jackson leaves too, especially after his late season success. Matt Jones and Amile Jefferson will both graduate as well. I like how Jones stays in the starting lineup right now for his "defense" when Allen is perfectly capable of playing great defense. At any rate, that should definitely clear up space for more of Duke's white players.

The thing I've been hearing that has been effecting Grayson Allen's draft position is the tripping incident. Black's do far worse but a White prospect has to watch what he does at all times.
