Its crazy!
Van Gaal now puts Huntelaar on for the first time this WC,at the time of crisis!

RVP doesn't seem to be fully fit.

Credit to Huntalaar for staying calm. The commentator said he missed so many penalties for Schalke they gave the job to somebody else! When it comes to taking high pressure penalties Robben doesn't appear to have got over that miss for Real Madrid a few years ago but he had great match.

Yes,Huntelaar did brilliant!

And Robben was fantastic as well.
But yes, neither I nor Van Gaal(I think) would trust him with such a crucial penalty....like I said,if Lens had replaced RVP,Kuyt would've taken the penalty.

and the stats show that when a player is fouled he shouldn't take the penalty because his chances of missing increase

All in all,I think Netherlands must start with both RVP and Huntelaar in the next game,as RVP is anyways better suited to playing off the main striker, who should be Huntelaar.

Sneijder should then accompany Blind in the midfield two, because like Jack Lambert has said earlier,Wijnaldum has been pis* poor.

they also need to redefine martins hindi's role
he was going forward too much today
because of this holland looked unskilled in midfield
i like dejong better because he sticks to his security guard role more

Forlan starting today! Go Uruguay!

Now after clearly witnessing the Caste System at work in promoting Lens over Huntelaar,it has to noted that atleast Uruguay don't seem to have been infected by this poison....thankfully.

There are few European nations that would've opted for their tried & tested, highest capped, all time second-highest top scorer legend called Diego Forlan ahead of 'fast','physical' and 'athletic' Abel Hernandez.

Greece has been mediocre. They only qualified in a weak group because of an injury time penalty and poor Ivory Coast finishing. But they played well two years ago at the European Championships (though robbed by the officiating), they are experienced, and most importantly, they defend well. I guess we'll find out today if Costa Rica are for real.

the group was not that weak
russia's group was weaker and they only finished 3rd
greece

Getting back to Brazil I don't think it was mentioned here but Brazil's two strikers Fred and Jo are two of the most inept in the entire World Cup. In fact Jo's pathetic play when he came on as sub helped me understand why the useless Fred keeps getting a start.

Also, Brazil has a very anonymous midfield. There is no anchor there. No leader. Even their attacks in the second half were mostly due to individual initiative, not any concerted team work, and were kind of random and accidental. I just can't see how they can win the WC with this team unless they have incredible luck and a bit of help from the officials.

i already mentionned it but for somebody who has followed the french league it's incredible to see fred lead brazil's attack in this incredibly important world cup at home
he was average at lyon
and everybody thought that he ended his career years ago

Why is Colombia’s James Rodriguez being considered white? He’s clearly some sort of Spanish-Amerindian-Mestizo mixture. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a talented player, and I’d prefer his success over Colombia’s many extra-dark Negroes…but this guy is clearly not white…

Granted, there are times when he looks a little closer to white-Spaniard...

Anyway, the Netherlands were really fortunate to survive Mexico and their great defense / goal keeping. Down 1-0 with 2.5 minutes remaining, that comeback was amazing. Robben should have been awarded a PK earlier in the game for a more egregious foul in the box, so that gift PK at the end wasn't too unfair.

Like Jerome Boateng and Mesut Ozil for Germany, the two blacks who played for Holland were a complete non-factor. Robben, Van Persie, Huntelaar, Kuyt, and Sneijder were the only “stars.” Two nice images of post-goal celebrations for our guys…

In watching Costa Rica's anthem, I see 2-3 starters that appear to be white Hispanics. Greek features 10 whites, and #20, Holebas, who is Mestizo.

about mexico's goalkeeper, he once again had a very spectacular match, saved some unreal chances
but holland's first goal comes from a corner kick
neueur , lloris or buffon would have come out of their goal and intercepted the cross
and the goal wouldn't have been scored
it's very important for a goalkeeper to be complete, not only to be outstanding in reflex saves

Who headed it back to Sneijder? Huntelaar? The keeper was out of position so I thought he would head it into the mostly open net which only had defenders there. But instead he headed it back to Sneijder as if it were a set play.

Fred and Jo have been terrible. Even the Brazil fans have continuously booed the pair for their complete lack of any skills. You're right, from watching the last part of the game, it seemed like Hulk was really the only Brazilian who consistently did anything for them in terms of creating chances.

I'm guessing most people remember the poster "Zeus" from a couple of years ago? I'll bet he's pretty happy with Greece right now.

And speaking of reflex saves. It was Julio Cesar (white) making such a save in the 2nd half that allowed Brazil to make it to extra time.

Jack Lambert - Yes, despite Hulk's mistakes and missed penalty he was at least providing a spark to their offence in the latter half of the match. He seemed to care more and had more confidence.

Greece v Costa Rica. It will be interesting to see CR, a CONCACAF team:shocked:, play now that other teams have studied their game. They would've been a bit of an unknown quantity coming into the tournament. Not anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if this one ended 0-0 with the Greeks winning in penalties. CR have looked like a better team but if Greece score the first goal they'll shut it down completely.

Jack Lambert, if Zeus were still here, we would now be posting on 2014 World Cup Finals: Part 25 because Don would've had to lock down the previous 24 due them descending into total chaos and anarchy.

But I have to admit, at times he was entertaining, particularly some of his memorable battles with Thrashen!

Thus far we have 3 teams from the Americas eliminated, granted 4 played each other yesterday. I hope Greece can pull thru, but CRC is a good team.

You got that right, foobar. :icon_grin:He caused a lot of uproar in threads, but I always had a good laugh with his battles with Thrashen and Rebajlo. I agree that those battles were pretty good, haha. I was thinking of him, and read through the 1st part of the Euro 2012 thread and was pretty entertained with some of the posts by Rebajlo and Thrashen.

Two underdogs in Costa Rica and Greece, this could be a pretty good game! Go Greece!!

Rodriguez is a great player...But he isn't White...

A great win for the Netherlands! Their team was nearly all-White and the best players were definitely White!

My ideal result would be Germany v Holland in the final with Ozil suspended, Khedira and Boateng out injured for the Germans, and for De Jong and Indi to be out for the Dutch.

Just imagine all 22 players on the pitch been White! Well I can dream can't I?!

Huntelaar is vastly underrated IMHO, but in typical fashion of a European he doesn't moan he just gets on with his game...

A good point made earlier about White Nationalists who support Muslim teams, but I'm afraid I want Nigeria to beat ''France'' and get that despicable team out of the World Cup...

Me too.

Nice to see Greece standing tall against the talented Chilean squad at the half. They controlled the pace and had some of the better scoring chances. Ideally, Greece will bag a late goal and move through. If the game were to somehow remain scoreless after 90 minutes plus the extra period, I wouldn’t want to face Greece in penalty kicks, given their great fortune in this WC.

As for the former post, “Zeus,â€￾ I hope he’s doing well (with his wife and son, who is about probably a year old at this point) and they have something to celebrate later today!

If you are white, or even black, in the American South West stay off the streets today. There'll be lots of angry Mexicans out and about spoiling for a fight.

I can see it now.. Black dude and a white dude wearing USA jerseys to support the team. Along comes an angry Mexican and shoots them both dead. Next day it's the top news story in America, media calling the shooter white and portraying it as white-on-black hate crime. Nobody mentions the dead white guy.

WTF was Greece's goal keeper doing? He just froze, even I could have stopped that ball.
