Interesting list, I'm sure people will have issues with how individual players are ranked, but I think they did a good job overall. Assuming Thiago Silva is mestizo, 9 of the top 10 and 18 of the top 19 players are white, with the top black player, Neymar, at #20.

I don't know the history of the game well enough, but does anyone remember the last time when white players and countries were this dominant? Until the last few years, it always seemed like there were always a few blacks in the conversation for the best player.

great list, etoo is not in the top 20, while since he is the most paid player in the world (some russian obviously has too much money) a lot of people would have ranked him even in the top 10, to add more colour to the top 10

also mario balotelli isn't in the top 50 in this list, a lot of brainwashed people would have put him in the top 10 too

as matraa mentionned in another thread, there are a lot of players from spain, real madrid and barcelona
this list seems more biased toward premier league, and one could ask, how did manchester city managed to be kicked out of champions league by napoli and bayern munich, while manchester city has so many players in the list?

not that much players from serie A, and few player from internazionale
lucio and forlan should be placed higher

a trend that annoys me, and that existed even for the golden ball this year, is to put neymar in the list
they put neymar in the list because he is very hyped, but neymar is not the only player in brasileirao
it's like an award where messi would be the only european player represented
there are too many players and teams in south america and in europe to do a list containing the best of both
it's difficult enough to do a top 100 list for europe, don't try to do it for the whole world

also they didn't watch the copa america, because there are no peruvians in the list, (vargas should be here) no pizarro (who became german league's foreign top scorer of all time)

and i wouldn't have put pepe reina, lloris instead
they have 3 spanish keapers in the list, i know they are good, but they are not THAT good

no olivier giroud either

great to see joe hart in the list
i was very impressed by him in the matches i watched against manchester city
let's see how he does with the national team

I read some of the comments and guess who they are bashing-Rooney. I wonder if these guys who hate Rooney are English. It seems like the English hate their own players. One idiot did say Bolatelli should be in the top 10. Joe Hart is a great keeper. I remember seeing him making a great save in the Carling Cup a 3 or 4 years ago and thinking he is going to be good. Let's see if the English fans bash him.

Notice at 7.55 in the video the two English guys agree that Mario Balotelli isn't good enough, yet, to be on this list. They both say they're "not 'avin it" (ie not accepting it) with one saying Balotelli is only there because of his ego and reputation.

thanks for the video
i guess that the list was made by english, because of their accent (i thought they were americans before hearing them talk)

i love how they showed respect to lugano, this man is not only a legend in uruguay, but also in brazil
he can make brazilian suport uruguay in international competitions (forlan also, because his father was a big player in brazil)
to my knowledge, he is the only player to have heard his name in a brazilian stadium while playing an important match against brazil (uruguay-brazil for the qualification to the 2010 world cup)

they also have great explanation for the bad ranking of forlan
they say he did good with his national team, but he did nothing for inter and atletico
unfortunately forlan wasn't titular for atletico last year and he had 2 injuries after coming to inter
they will have him in the top 10 when inter will win this year's champions league

in france, the usual comment about balotelli is "too bad he does all these things outside of the field, he has to potential to be the best player in the world"
this amazes me
i never saw him doing something special
definitely the most over rated player in the world right now

regarding joe hart, i decided to upolad quickly one of the match i saw him play

http://rutube.ru/tracks/5194026.html

he was incredible, he was the only reason why manchester city didn't lose this match (1-1 in the end)
he sure is the best english goal keeper i ever saw
in my opinion he is better than the spanish goalkeepers of barcelona and real madrid, valdes and casillas
but he needs to prove his talent outside of the premier league (with the national team for example)
meanwhile, USA have a black goalkeeper :icon_rolleyes:

he made fantastic saves in the second match against liverpool too

is someone watching manchester city-liverpool right now?
i heard balotelli was replaced and he was booed by his own suporters
liverpool is leading 1-0

and after looking at the top 10 a second time, i can't understand how you can have (or 'avin:biggrin:) tiago silva in the top 10 and lucio at the 88 position
they are the same player (brazilian, play for a big italian club, skilled, play for the national team, classy central defenders) but tiago silva is not in the same league than lucio
lucio has been world champ, and he was one of the best players
lucio is the only one who managed to beat barcelona, 2 seasons ago, when inter won the champions league
even in the brazilian national team, lucio is better considered than tiago silva
it's a nonsense
the top 10 should be all white for me (except silva's asian part)
yes ac milan was better last year than inter, but 2 years ago internazionale won the serie A and the champions league
they have memory problems

great save!
these are from this season aparently
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krJkdfVD5gM&feature=related

let's see how he will do in 2012 with the national team
if he has good aerial presence, if he is good on the crosses, he will be mentionned more in the top 10 or top 20

by the way it's funny that the best player of manchester city this season might be one of the few english in the team, joe hart

I looked for the video of the save he made in the Carling Cup , but I can't find it. Right then I knew he would be a great keeper. It was an incredible reflex save.

Not sure exactly how much this adds to my point, but for what it's worth, a few days ago me and two friends did a fantasy draft in the video game FIFA 2012, where we each picked 15 players. I wouldn't describe either of them as racially aware, but out of the 45 players picked, only 3, Eto, Yaya Toure, and Dani Alves, were black (and oddly enough I took Toure and Alves). So without knowing it, all 3 of us thought the best XI we could pick were either all white or 10/11 white teams. For example, mine was Neuer, Bale, Pique, Pepe, Alves, Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Robben, Ribery, Rooney, Ibrahamovic.

UEFA gave a list of 32 players and 53 journalist from 53 countries had to vote for one of them, the best player in europe (i.e. in the world)

the finalists will be lionel messi, cristiano ronaldo, and andres iniesta

then the other players, top 10:

4. Andrea Pirlo (ITA/Juventus)
5. Xavi Hernandez (ESP/Barcelone)
6. Iker Casillas (ESP/Real Madrid)
7. Didier Drogba (CIV/Chelsea and then Shanghai Shenhua)
8. Petr Cech (RTC/Chelsea)
9. Falcao (COL/Atletico Madrid)
10. Mesut Ozil (ALL/Real Madrid)

the first non-white is didier drogba
then there are the south american falcao and the turk mesut ozil
